I dropped Strong Woman DBS like a hot potato after around episode 5, even though everyone kept saying it was great. I hated it. In essence, I don't care about any potential losses if I have to force myself to watch to some, perhaps never to come, great point. Especially considering that I used to try and force it when I was younger and it pretty much never paid off. I won't drop something I am so-so about, in that case I FF.
So if I hate it around ep 5/6, then chances are I will continue to hate it so bye bye it is. Not enough time for enjoyment anyway so might as well maximize it.
Is it true that the drama has only 40 eps? I saw it somewhere that the drama now has only 40 eps?
That's a good thing actually. As others mentioned, it's about the limitations of those aired on TV and it's always a score when your drama is aired on a proper TV station, instead of staying a web drama. I am crossing my fingers here.
Ok so first about the accent. It's that different accents make it impossible for people from other areas to understand.…
Yes. So almost done with the paperwork and summer broadcast seems very likely. When exactly, depends too on when some other shows will air. Tencent wants and needs this to do well.
Yes. Prequel series was Mirror Twin Cities. This one takes place like 100years I think before that one. But I…
No problem, I kept it as vague as possible because there is lots of info around that but basically that is what happens. Keep in mind that the novel was heavily altered but tbh, I think this will stay the same.
Ok I am going to be delusional and imagine that XZ posing with the umbrella means YGY is on its way for this summer (it has passed both reviews so come on!) šš¤
Ok so first about the accent. It's that different accents make it impossible for people from other areas to understand. So they demand standard Mandarin, which is accessible to everyone. In theory every self respecting actor should work on acquiring a good standard Mandarin but in reality many have used dubbing to even skip learning their lines. Today there is actually officially a push in China to get actors to speak their lines so hopefully this will improve. Anyway, both XZ and RM are a non issue but we shall see what happens with COVID.
Second, censored as in there is a number of themes that are forbidden in China. Dramas of military content have extra strict, additional rules but it's no walk in the park for the others either. So many things are forbidden, I have actually lost count. I just can't be bothered to remember any longer. From time travel, to transmigration (which is for example super common for Wuxias so they have to work around that) to things like speaking positively of Emperors etc. The list is massive. So yeah, it takes time but YGY has passed both reviews so it should be here around June/July.

Yes and no. In the novel he kills the wrong person so then she kills him. Then she brings him back to life. So it is a tragedy but then not. Definitely super angsty novel and supposedly the drama made it even worse. But if they follow that part of the plot, he doesn't stay dead.

Two reasons. One he is a massive star now. He is not going to waste his time on a tiny secondary character. He is way past that. Even if the role is enlarged, it is still nothing for him now as he is an established main male lead. Plus this is being written by Wang Juan and yeah.
Two, it's a hostile environment for him. He has been treated terribly. The black hs on weibo a while back just a culmination of it all.
Anyway, if the show is good quality, it will make it by itself, not to mention that considering how the fans of other cast members have been saying they don't want, or need, him in it, even here on MDL, it all works out for them. Good luck and all.
But again, as above, you seem desperate to reduce things to fans and stir trouble. I will leave you to it, though I hope you find better things to do in your life. This reeks of desperation š¤·
I voice my issues with things like these directly on Chinese SNS.
In general, there is actually movement in cdramas. It is definitely not as bad as it was when I was a teenager and there are more female orientated movies and dramas. But I see no reason why one cannot discuss in both places.
Having read the novel, all I can say is that if I were YZ, I would be really pissed they wrote this moment in this way. The comments on Chinese platforms are not nice at all. She got screwed over because all the screenwriter had to do was follow the novel and add a conversation about her needing better communication from him, which would have rounded up her character's growth. Instead they gave her this. Unbelievable. But perhaps the consequence of it being an older show.
Anyway, my dissatisfaction has nothing to do with XZ and everything to do with the content.
I watched DC because of the original novel, Douluo Dalu. It actually has nothing to do with XZ. And yes, I hated it and rated it appropriately, again regardless of XZ, as I will do here.
I will simply never tolerate physical violence of this kind. China is a country with huge problems when it comes to this. It has been made worse by years and years of toxic relationships constantly portrayed in dramas. Violence, assault, rape. All of this has "passed" for way too long in cdramas. The issue of consent and in general, violence, is appallingly badly depicted. This show does not get a pass because it's a woman doing it and because GW wasn't injured. Then on top of that, in general mental health issues treatment, stress etc ... Yeah, no pass because it's XZ š¤·
I don't know many ppl being mature in their early twenties Biologically...our frontal cortex...the judgement part…
Both of you definitely sound like you have grown and matured, which is great.
But this is a drama, not real life so the conversation is happening. I see no growth in the FL and I see no way where an adult man stays with such a person long term, married, which is how this drama ends as we all know. It's not believable to me.
If they broke up and one day met and said oh, I understand some things better now etc, I would believe that. A perfect, happy ending? Nah.
And I definitely have a very particular problem with physical violence, especially considering the wider context of China and the way it is often framed in cdramas.

Where is the info about cutting anything in YGY? It certainly isn't available in China so why invent stuff?
DC 2 is nowhere and the more time passes, the less likely it becomes he will return.

Try better.
