Too much ML4 and FL4 plot. Nobody is responding to it. Cnetz don't like it, TV viewers switch the channel on it.
Otherwise good episodes. Here comes the love rival but I have to say I just find the concept funny. Hopefully we will get even more time for the leads.
Xiao Zhan himself knows much better than you do what does and doesn't help him. He has been very meticulous in how he runs his career. He gets to act with an award winning actress, other veterans, an experienced director and all that based on a script written by a Magnolia award for best screenplay winner.
He is getting praises everywhere for his acting in it and all the improvement he is showing. He is expanding his audience. I think he knows what he is doing.
Relax and let him try to do the best he can from the things he has available. There is going to be far fewer hits as he goes through the pains of transformation. It is simply inevitable. But the outcome is worth it.
TLP itself did really great. We can't help that the platform blocked it. Even with that all the data we do have are really good. Shi Ying is definitely the most popular character this year.
When TLP was broadcasting, another actor had really great data, from another drama. There was a lot of talk about this in China in places like Douban because he really did do great and it was considered by everyone as his break out.
You know what is funny? Xiao Zhan had better data with Shi Ying. It's just that he is already the top star so you cannot say he broke out because broke out from what? But that doesn't mean he didn't do unbelievably well with TLP.
How many dramas like that have you seen? Come on now, you are the one crying here about hits. A drama like that hasn't been seen in several years. Do you think scripts like that fall from the sky?
It's really not my problem that you are only happy when you can brag with Xiao Zhan's hits. He is going to choose the projects that he thinks are the best from those available to him on his path of transformation and you are either going to have to cope with that or walk away.
Stan my ass. No fan will be crying about a lack of hits when their idols is having a dream summer of two CCTV dramas with CVB over 1 that also got and will get multiple satellite TV reruns and a great showing of a web drama.
It's doing really well. It's a simulcast of two web platforms and it's on CCTV which means data is scattered across…
CCTV usually attracts middle age and older audiences so they are looking to expand because with the proliferation of streaming though web platforms they are in danger of having its audience reduce drastically in a while.
You are right that many dramas aired recently that had younger actors and it was always celebrated when the ratings hit the magic number of CVB 1, which was rare btw. Xiao Zhan is in a niche drama that is comfortably batting over 1 but suddenly now that isn't good enough somehow. It's nonsense.
Anyway, when it comes to attracting audiences he has a very wide span when it comes to demographics. Both men and women, of all ages. WDB was watched by a primarily male audience, of about 80%. While we will get the data later I am willing to bet it is the opposite for this one. So he of all of them has a very good nationality (recognition) which is successful in attracting audiences to at least sample the dramas they wouldn't usually watch and he is attracting younger audiences to watch on TV instead of web, exactly what CCTV needs.
His current path is a dream come true for everyone who wants to be an established actor and those who say it is not have other motives.

I am with you there. He has to move out of idol drama if he wants to stick around and he has always been clear that is his goal.
To stay around, he has to transform from an idol/traffic star to a recognised actor. To do that he must find appropriate scripts and those don't fall from the sky on demand. Other people are attempting the same thing and they are all fighting for the good roles. He has started now to leave himself plenty of room and is experimenting in genres while improving his skills.
The man wants to be a serious actor and this is the only way forward towards that and longevity.
guys how is this drama doing in China? does anyone here know? I hope itβs doing well
It's doing really well. It's a simulcast of two web platforms and it's on CCTV which means data is scattered across platforms.
Current ratings on TV, and only 7 have aired, are on par with highest urban dramas. It's difficult to get higher than that because CCTV audience is more action/war inclined. But the real plot is just starting so we have to wait what the outcome is. CVB is over 1 comfortably which is a literal dream of most artists.
I don't know what people expect from Xiao Zhan. Everyone celebrates such ratings but for him it's not enough apparently. Funny that. It's especially important to note that by airing this drama CCTV is trying to attract new audiences because they need new generations. But that is never easy and that they have faith in XZ and the quality of this drama is important.
On episode 2 and already thinking I cant get through 36 episodes of this. The ML is a pushover- his boss his supposed…
Pushover?
The market for hiring is bad. He is supposed to do what? Quit so that he will remain without any income? He is not some rich CEO. He is from a poor family that has an income of 5000 yuan, 4 elderly people to take care of and MLs salary is an additional 4000, which almost doubles the overall finances.
Job security comes before anything else in such circumstances. Yes, he is a "pushover" because he has the survival of 6 people in mind.
It's just the design. It looks weird but it's popular. Never understood it myself.
πππ
At least it's not on the pants? This summer I saw a teenager with one of those really baggy, hanging pants that had 'artfully' arranged fake stains. How should I put it? Someone did not think that one through π
If Sheng Yang's parents later prohibit him from being with Jiang Bing, I'm going to stop watching this chaos right…
You have been watching a reflection of real life and yes, it can be very difficult and uncomfortable. But this is an urban drama and that means addressing society and societal attitudes towards certain things. In this case, it is about women and what are societal expectations, especially when it comes to women of certain age and opposite of that, what are our own wants and needs.
I think we are going to see more such things. Personally I enjoy it because I love to see this type of dramas but I can certainly see how it would be distressing. Maybe wait for a few episodes then you can binge and skip what you don't feel like watching?

If you want mass produced hits, I suggest idol dramas and idols to follow.
