It's doing really well. It's a simulcast of two web platforms and it's on CCTV which means data is scattered across platforms.
Current ratings on TV, and only 7 have aired, are on par with highest urban dramas. It's difficult to get higher than that because CCTV audience is more action/war inclined. But the real plot is just starting so we have to wait what the outcome is. CVB is over 1 comfortably which is a literal dream of most artists.
I don't know what people expect from Xiao Zhan. Everyone celebrates such ratings but for him it's not enough apparently. Funny that. It's especially important to note that by airing this drama CCTV is trying to attract new audiences because they need new generations. But that is never easy and that they have faith in XZ and the quality of this drama is important.

The market for hiring is bad. He is supposed to do what? Quit so that he will remain without any income? He is not some rich CEO. He is from a poor family that has an income of 5000 yuan, 4 elderly people to take care of and MLs salary is an additional 4000, which almost doubles the overall finances.
Job security comes before anything else in such circumstances. Yes, he is a "pushover" because he has the survival of 6 people in mind.
It's just the design. It looks weird but it's popular. Never understood it myself.

At least it's not on the pants? This summer I saw a teenager with one of those really baggy, hanging pants that had 'artfully' arranged fake stains. How should I put it? Someone did not think that one through 😂

You have been watching a reflection of real life and yes, it can be very difficult and uncomfortable. But this is an urban drama and that means addressing society and societal attitudes towards certain things. In this case, it is about women and what are societal expectations, especially when it comes to women of certain age and opposite of that, what are our own wants and needs.
I think we are going to see more such things. Personally I enjoy it because I love to see this type of dramas but I can certainly see how it would be distressing. Maybe wait for a few episodes then you can binge and skip what you don't feel like watching?

Generally speaking, it is difficult for children to understand their parents. It often comes later in life when they themselves have experienced life. Plus yes, he is a man 😂
Though, for all of that, when Jian Bing needed it, he was capable of helping her and cooking for her, then later he made a thank you meal for her too. Those little things mean a lot and if his father did more of that, it wouldn't be so bad now.
After reading everyone's comments I feel like I should watch ep 11 tomorrow after more ep are released 😅
That would be amazing because generally, Asian dramas do this "redemption" thing where some characters who were really nasty get a "happy ending". If this drama ends up going against that trend I am going to be majorly impressed!

Oh no, this happens every single time, genre is irrelevant. Sometimes the names repeat so you will learn to recognise them. As I mentioned above, I saw some old names from Ace Troops time, posting the exact same thing as they did there. It becomes funny in the end, you say to yourself ah hello old friend, long time no see 😂
