Scene on the train stabs, then scene at the train station twists the knife. I am glad I live alone because I was crying like a total fool. But that was a masterpiece of acting.

Kinda funny how all the XCS hospital reaction scenes you wanted were in ep 19 this is why we wait for episodes…
No because even 19 and 20 were way more about the ML2 and FL2 than they were about XCS.

What I want is focus on XCS which as far as I am concerned, I am not getting. What I am getting is a lot of talk by the support roles. The previews suggest that this focus should come in 21 onwards but the very event of Xiao Chunsheng's accident wasn't about him.

It is no problem, I just pull my ratings down in the end, others will keep theirs up. Different people get different things from the same material.

While most people would have said the truth about the mine right away. I disagree with others that paint YCG as…
He lied right from the start. I actually couldn't believe it so I rolled back.

When he leaves Chunsheng in the minefield and reaches his soldiers, he says Chunsheng stepped on the mine, doesn't say it was XCS coordinates, doesn't say it was he who first stepped on it. He then lies again at the debriefing and keeps lying for days while Chunsheng is in a coma.

Then he tells Chunsheng he will apply for a medal, watch XCS face. He is happy and wants it. Then right after Guohua in the train accepts the cheers.

He morally kidnapped Chunsheng in the end but ultimately, it doesn't matter even if XCS says take it. No moral person ever would. Would you lie if someone saved your life? Of course not. But he knew Chunsheng was a good person and he knew he had a clear way to take advantage of that.

Ignore the ratings, Xiao Zhan's dramas get bombed with 1s by a certain other fan group. There is nothing we can do about it.

So it will released soon?
It got its licence in May 2022 and could have aired last summer but Tencent aired LLTG.

Then China introduced new rules and TLP had to renew the licence because the new rules are in effect from June 1st. Which is what you are talking about.

But this show could have been broadcast since May 2022 and it is entirely on Tencent that it didn't. This is a big topic on Chinese SNS now because TC hid under the lie that TLP cannot be broadcast and now they have been exposed. Summarily this doesn't mean anything because Tencent could have broadcast it at any point in the past year and they didn't. Nothing says they will do it this summer, especially as they are already focusing on two other dramas.

The latest episodes are great. We have at last a deep and meaningful conversation between Xiaomey & XCS. There…
It is not just you who are frustrated, everyone is. Since we can follow ratings in real time we know cctv viewers aren't into it either. By now it is pretty obvious what makes the ratings dip and what makes them jump. One absolute certainty is that the second FL2 takes out the violin, people hit that remote control.

I don't want to jinx tomorrow so 🤞

There haven't been any outside troubles since May 2022 when it got the licence. It could have aired last summer.

This is all internal in Tencent and situation there isn't much better now.

Great ratings day.

Ep 17 - 1.6196%
Ep 18 - 1.9143%

That is our highest rating high so far, we have great averages and market share was over 11%. The weekend is yet to come! CVB for episodes 13-14 is 1.528, another great result and breaking 1.5.

Trailer is giving very much Journey of Chong Zi vibes and that is def not a good thing..
It has nothing to do with that. Funny how licence news came and here you lot are again with the same bs from last summer when the first broadcasting announcement came.

So, as some of us have been saying - the drama got the licence in May 2022. It has now passed the renewal too because of the new rules.

So I hope certain people will stop their games of no licence, pre - production, other stuff. This drama wasn't broadcast and isn't being broadcast because of Tencent. They can do so whenever they like and this has been true for more than a year.

Finally, finally 💃💃#TheLongestPromise starring #XiaoZhan and #RenMin has passed the third trial after two…
It passed the trial in May 2022. This is just a renewal because the rules changed.

I think the center is still XCS - it's just that people feel what has happened to him is unfair and that he deserves…
I would absolutely agree with you if the story went as I suggested.

XCS gets equal focus during the accident. The impact is brought up right away, it is a spinal injury, it doesn't take a genius so it is perfectly believable. Chunsheng gets his moment while the story is hottest. Then comes the low blow of what Guohua did, when he is at his most vulnerable. This is all making Chunsheng the active party.

That is a story focused on the ML. I agree with you generally in terms of what the idea of the story is. I just think the execution is terrible, the focus and attention went to ML2 and as far as I am personally concerned that is not what I am here for. It also doesn't make me optimistic about the future because as writers, determining the focus and who is active and who is passive in a story, thereby deciding who the story is about is fundemntal. And right now, the story is actively in ML2's hands. So how am I supposed to believe they will give Chunsheng justice? Is the focus deliberate and if it is then that just makes it worse. We agree on the generalities, I just don't like the execution, not one bit.

The scriptwriter is certainly telling a story, a story about FL2 and ML2.

I don't agree at all that this is about Chunsheng. It will be later on, to what extent we shall see, but as I wrote below the most explosive moment of this drama gave the focus to ML2. All the talk is about *his* decision, *his* choices. What *he* did. The screenwriters could have focused on XCS first and the consequences first and then made it worse by punching low with ML2 choice of stealing credit. They didn't and focused right away and fully on ML2.

I am not interested in that. I want to see focus on the ML right from the start in the crucial turning point of his story, not endless scenes about ML2 and what he chose and will choose in the future. FL2 had more about it than Chunsheng and of course again with ML2. Hell even the accident, so to call it, was focused on ML2, not on Chunsheng who didn't even get his own scene afterwards about what happened but a short nonsensical retelling.

The screenwriter can feed ML2 but I am not interested in that as I said, even less so when he uses Xiao Chunsheng as a tool man to do it. If he wants to do that, make the story clearly labeled as Guohua the ML and then I don't have to bother with it and post about it because I won't watch it in the first place.

We don't agree and that is ok but this is how I see it and what I wanted and want to see.

He doesn't KNOW yet. It's an immense thing to have happened to him, but he's still in the processing phase. Let…
I wrote a post about things I care about. That you don't is none of my business. All I see is that Chunsheng's injury is all about the second male lead.

Where is the scene filmed about Chunsheng getting injured? Doesn't exist. We only get to hear about that, which breaks the cardinal rule of show don't tell. But ML2 gets his moment. So why can't the supposed ML get his? No, instead we have to focus on the ML2 and the ML gets a sloppy retelling that didn't even make sense. Sorry but who is the male lead of this drama? Guohua or Chunsheng? Because the passive one is Chunsheng and the person getting all the focus is Guohua. Why can't the story first focus on Chunsheng, the consequences of what happened and then writers can add ML2'S decision as an additional low punch? That is not what they chose.

No, I don't want to wait in the most explosive moment of this drama for the screenwriter to feed ML2 and FL2 full and plump of milk from his tit while Chunsheng is used as a tool man in their story that should be his. I want the focus to be on the male lead right from the start. If you don't want to, that is fine, but I do.

I wrote above I am willing to wait and I will wait until tomorrow, that's it. But I don't believe anyone in the Chinese entertainment unless I see it. And giving the focus of this entirely to the ML2 when the audience is most pumped sure isn't making me feel any more positive. Like I said, we don't have to agree, you are entirely within your right to enjoy watching it all being about ML2 right now.

Just as I am within mine to not want to and to think it is bad writing.

I want to see that. Not have everything revolve around FL2 and ML2. Is Chunsheng the ML of this drama or not? You can't tell me the focus is on him because it is very, very obviously on ML2.

The problem, for me, is that he is passive. He is the center but only in the sense that the injury happened to him. But what are we all talking about, including myself? Guohua. What are you talking about in your post? Guohua.

It is not that I have a problem with that event, it is certainly a huge issue (I think Guohua will keep the honors and I agree with what you wrote in general) but it is overshadowing the injury of XCS himself. All the talk, and it is natural because it is the focus on screen too, is about what Guohua did and will or will not do.

What I want is scenes of Chunsheng being told he can't walk, his feelings and reaction to that, his thoughts on that. Instead we got his sister telling us the audience he might not walk instead of seeing a conversation between Chunsheng and a doctor.

I don't want his accident to be a plot point for the second male lead, which is exactly what it is at this moment. Chunsheng's big life changing moment needs to be about Chunsheng. Guohua is not the ML of this story.

One last thing about episode 18.
I really need what happened to be about Xiao Chunsheng. Not about Guohua, not about Hongling.

This is a really big event but so far the focus is on Guohua. That for me is not how it should be. Even the conversation about the potential consequences isn't given to Chunsheng. It is given to his sister and friends. We hear it from them.

So where is the focus on Xiao Chunsheng and this giant earth shattering thing for his life? We get a funny scene with him but his sister tells us, the audience what is happening? Not how it should be. I am willing to wait but not for long. I hope the writer will do it justice but in such a way that it is more important for the actual male lead, not people around him.

He has a very short window of time to come clean, but consider this - some time has passed since XCS woke up.…
This is basically what Chunsheng and Amao talked about and Chunsheng already told us how he would be. Even if betrayed he would think it was worth it. I think it is not too difficult to figure out HHL but at least for me personally, Guohua is a bigger issue. Best childhood friends, brothers for life and then this? That is a knife straight to the heart.

Guohua also knows his father, his whole family and knows truly what it all means to Chunsheng so taking away the credit, even if Chunsheng agrees, is not something I could ever, ever justify.

This is solely about Guohua and his character now. It breaks everything or it opens a new door.

I have calmed down enough to say I could write some pretty terrible words about Guohua right now. It isn't just what is mentioned below in the comment by ShortCircuit, it was also terrible how he started talking about Hongling, talk about emotional manipulation.

But I am going to wait for tomorrow because this writer is known to flip things around. It wouldn't solve everything but it would solve some things. Come on Guohua, just for once in your life be a fucking human being.

Waaaaah... I'm telling myself this isn't a romance drama but I need to see those scenes asap.
I can't wait, I am going to enjoy every moment of their story (and probably cry). Nothing wrong with enjoying the romance part too!
