The ratings of actual show, the TV ratings, do, as well as Datawin and VL scores. And there TBP is not only doing badly, it's falling. Unless some miracle happens, it won't even recoup its investment, never mind best drama of the year.

No, it's not. Wang Kai's drama has much higher rating, breaking records on CCTV and currently, LYF's is also doing better than this. In fact, Datawin for this drama is already falling. For a production of this kind, to already be falling at meager 2.264 (strong wind is rising at 2.453), it's a very bad sign.
Everyone when this happens, just report, do not engage, do not try to wash. It doesn't help and only makes it worse. Back to regular programming now, with more thanks to mods 🥰

Untamed is not a BL drama. The book is but it is not allowed on screen so the drama is friendship. It's fantastic with amazing social commentary under the surface so it's very worth your time.
It's a different genre, TBP is Sci Fi but it is supposed to be a heavy hitter, I am not sure if you know, Netflix is also making a show based on the trilogy. It's a huge original IP, very anticipated. This is one of the top shows Tencent has been counting on. Airing TLP simultaneously would divert attention so I think we are out of luck. Again.
It's not about bravery. What a way to reduce a complex societal issue.
I sure hope you are a child, and a western child at that because that is childish reasoning of someone who proclaims the Chinese to be cowards and look how easy the solution is without an ounce of knowledge of historical, cultural, societal and governmental context that is radically different in China than the west.

I too felt that way but after 2 eps oh it wil be way way better, this is soooo good really and you would understand…
I figured out why she is the way she is right away, the flashbacks was enough. I still found it beyond uncomfortable. I stuck through the cringe of 2 and now at 4, it is better so thank you (and the upper poster again) too!
It's a pity the start was so problematic because I know two people who dropped it because of it and are not even interested in trying. I get it, time is short and we do not have much of it free but just a bit more awareness from the crew could have had the same message and fewer people backing off. It's a c-drama ailment that I wish they would solve.
The plot of this drama is so unrealistic and farfetched that I am completely disconnected from it. I am not even bothered by the unnecessary drawn out "romance" because I don't care by now.
