Based on what little I've seen, this is many orders of magnitude better than Dynamite Kiss, but it's pure romance / slice of life, not a romcom.

God, just do the white truck on him, he is the most deserving. I would give an extra point to the show in my final review if they did that, maybe even 2. SFL could just live happily with the kid or something. (I know I'm not being nice here, sorry)

They have actually, disrespectful as fork, but it is what it is. They could have totally done it with no one being able to read the opened document from a distance, but it's changed indeed.

This is quite possibly the second most annoying kdrama I have ever not dropped. I've been thinking how they could make it more annoying if they wanted to, a nearly 2 episode long forced separation with a 1 minute happy ending would do it I think..

I think there is a lot variance in general. For instance the Goblin OST is mindblowing.

Korea has a great many very educated stay home moms that would love to get back to white collar work they are qualified for, but cannot because of how carrier breaks are permanent in the toxic Korean corporate culture.

Now imagine such people watching this show & how these supposedly university graduate moms are acting like they were directly recruited from the fish market. Implying & reinforcing that people after a 5-10 year carrier break are no longer intellectuals.

It's not. The second ML is poorly written, the mom division is straight up disrespectful & ML's dad is like omg. There is also the half-sibling, no matter how good the actress is, the character is really poor & ridiculous. The occasionally clever dialog is not enough to ever call this script anything but poor.

Really??? Would you for real pick them over Bogom + IU?

Also while I feel Miss Chu has grown a lot as a main actor in this show & by episode 10 her acting has improved tremendously, but overall on average this is still not that great, with awkwardness aplenty.

I don't care about the quality of kissing scenes very much, I know this is often not related to the actor's kissing skill at all, but rather other factors such as the age rating of the show or what the production team thinks can be or should be shown on the target channel. (maybe even contracts)

Anyway my concern is also the lack of romance genre, because I have doubts that without romance a plot like this could be enjoyable in the kdrama space.

It's not great, maybe a tiny bit better than Would You Marry me, but it's like comparing rotten tomatoes with moldy lemons.

I don't think any actress can easily sell that, an elite 30s supervisor pretending to be a 20 yo that is. Though they could have found someone a bit younger, sure.

The best compromise would've been making her pretend to be a 25yo high school graduate ..

Oh My Venus and Hogu's Love came out in 2015, honestly it has been a better year for kdrama romcoms than 2025.

This plot could work very well, but the ending surely should be two gumiho lovers with baby foxes, not the cliche human ending, but alas all this talk about growing up leaves little hope for that, ay??

Can a human turn into a Gumiho? Can a Gumiho be a successful soccer player, while hiding his identity from other gumihos?

There are so many, I'm literally talking about the best of the best. I'm jelly that you can watch such amazing shows for the first time in 2025, when I have like nothing to watch & due to that somehow I have not dropped Dynamite Kiss of all things. (Business Proposal is fine though.)

For example: Goblin, Hogu's Love, Secret Garden, While You Were Sleeping, I Can Hear Your Voice, Pinocchio, It's Okay That's Love, Oh My Venus, Still 17 etc..
(In secret Garden the second FL defo doesn't want the ML, but it takes a few epis for that to become clear, it's actually quite a similar FL character to the one in Dynamite Kiss)

though this list is about weak love triangles in general & half of it is cdramas, as such there are a few love struck second FL's around that give up quickly or are not too bothersome. For example one of the best romcoms I've seen is Another Oh Hae Yong & in that show the second FL defo wants back in ML's life, but it's a weak effort..

If you can accept shows with annoying second ML's, but not FL's then there is probably hundrends more. The most common triangle setup is 2 men & 1 woman, often there is not even a second FL. Strongwoman Do Bong Sun is the biggest name in that otherwise wretched genre & it's incredibly funny if you can FF button the second ML's scenes.

I'm watching e10 rn, I'm 50% in & I'm thinking good gawd, are they going to turn this show into Jealousy Incarnate?

Really, you have missed some of the best kdramas if true.

Yeah well, this is just as true for cdramas & c-idols. It's just a surprising quirk of Korean society that their entertainment industry is nearly as restrictive as the Chinese one.

It's not an acting issue, it's a kdrama issue. Wouldn't surprise me if some high profile actors had it in the contract that dead fish kisses only. What's even more plausible that the intensity of the kiss affects the age rating of the show as well.

It's all the writing. Sure we could criticize FL's acting -though I think she is rapidly improving- however this is tiny tiny problem compared to the characterization and the dumb strategies to make this drama longer than it had to be.
