eh, at least on cnet, most people criticising FL aren't part of fandom. If fandom was all the chinese viewers, SSS wouldn't do well. I think she's ok, she could be a better, a different actress might do a better job or they might not, that's fine.

A significant portion of people watching SSS probably only watched one other historical last year, and that's My Heroic Husband, so there's not much point comparing it to most other dramas.

duboku :P the recap isn't super interesting most of the time, but I find it more engaging in some of slower ep *cough*ep1*cough*. There's no recap between 21~25 for some reason. Trivia, the guy recapping is Yan Hexiang, Guo Qilin's partner is xiangsheng.

Shame it's not on wetv, this would be good opportunity to promote shuoshu a bit, like tientsin mystic did.

it's not due to episode limit (which is a suggestion by the way, not a hard limit) that they are splitting it into seasons, it's this type of dramas (male centric qidian novels) are usually split into season to lower the investment risk, the story are usually too long to film in one go. (see ever night which started s2 before 40 ep was fully in placed, also see fight break sphere that never manifested its s2)

one and only/forever and ever is functionally one drama (from a production pov), the novel didn't have enough content for 50 ep, and author/scriptwriter filled in gaps, then split the story to bypass the reincarnation restriction.

I think the drama is too far above Zhou Yutong or Wang Churan to reach tbh, even if I think they are both far better fit, since the age difference with ZRY isn't as stark. I think it's too early to even talk about cast change, when S2 isn't even set in stone and so far has no script :P

I like Song Zu'er, she endeared me despite her role being kind of annoying and infuriating in The Bond, I'm not huge on Eagle Flag, but I think that's more on the script than her. That said, she also look too much like a kid next to ZRY, there's no reason to jump from one kid to another.

DVDs and BDs aren't popular in China anymore so they don't usually release official dvds, people that want them tend to wait for Japan to release them, cos Japan tends to release DVDs for dramas they import as well.

It's not recommended to share your account due to security reasons, but if you have a friend that likes drama, sharing is fine. I'd suggest against giving it away to random people online since the account might be tied to your email/real phone/credit card or other payment system.

they haven't filmed them and I'm 90% sure there's no script unless they got someone else to write s2. It's too expensive and too big of a gamble to film all of it at once.

when they ban stuff, they never outright say it though :P

I'd interested in Reset since I like time loop and time travel, and I like the two directors (directed If There is No Tomorrow and Madhouse respectively). I'm a huge daylight fan and tend to watch most of their dramas even though last few years most of them don't really work for me, I liked Surgeons and their Candle in the Tomb though but that's early works I guess. Jing Tian I liked in Rattan, but I'd pass on this tbh. Jin Dong's is a different drama, I think his spy drama might have got a license too, but they are waiting for a slot. Mirror Twin Cities I'm passing on unless there's positive review.

Lei Jiayin have two upcoming dramas too, but they are set in like 70s or something and sound like not my thing. What else, oh Li Gengxi (SSS FL)'s sport drama is airing soon, I believe this one isn't a fluffy romance, and it has Hu Jun, I may or may not watch it. There's hardly historical this year I'm looking forward to tbh, I'll probably watch stuff I missed last year and start classic espionage drama binge or something. Oh right, I have to watch Enemy. oh Hunan TV aired something else instead of Imperial Cuisine (the Yu Zheng historical featuring Xu Kai and Wu Jinyan) rip, not sure if it'll make it for CNY slot, hopefully.

Daylight ent's new drama airs the day SSS finish airing, Jing Tian and XWZ have a drama ready to be dropped too, so I think that's next week, Mirror Twin City is probably the week after? waiting for the kids to be home and perfect for CNY slot. Tencent has a Jin Dong drama that has a license slated for CNY too, but it's a tv drama, so idk if it can win the fight for CNY slot.

they just dumped another document today talking about regulating BL dramas so probably not seeing it any time soon unless the platforms want their heads on the chopping board.

DLDL is a bigger IP than SSS, but the donghua does far better. Views DO matter, but there's no real cost estimate for either dramas so you can't really gauge if they made money, and how much money they have to make to make s2.

there's a cultivation (applicable to most xianxia/xiuxian/xuanhuan novels) wikitionary, but it's useless here because SSS doesn't use it. SSS's power level from lowest to highest is rank 9 ~ 1. At 1 there's four realms, Jin Gang (Vajira), Zhi Xuan (idk how to translate this), Tian Xiang (Celestial), and Di Xian (earthly deity?)

JoL share the same producers as MHH, JoL and SSS' producer difference is only on the platform side, JoL's delay is mostly because the script wasn't ready. The scriptwriter's schedule from late 2017 at the least (JoL s1 filming start, likely start writing 2016 cos ZRY had script of first 3 ep when he accepted the project) till mid 2020 (SSS filming start) is JoL s1, Young Blood s1, DLDL s1, SSS s1.
