iqiyi learnt from wetv, I expected them to fast track all 8 ep next week, instead we got this, this sucks. I take back "iqiyi is the nicest to consumers when it comes to fast track" D<
for family drama; i'd rec https://mydramalist.com/25162-romance-of-our-parents even though i've never seen it,…
I saw the comments mentioned subscene, could try that, could be subs ripped from netflix?
Oh if you like Steven, for down to earth ensemble cast school drama, you could also try My Huckleberry Friends. His historical drama Young Blood was super fun too. Have fun with the dramas!
I need another comparable drama to see. Anyone who can recommend? I have seen Minning town, remember ace of things…
for family drama, romance of our parents, the 2014 drama for sort of similar to nothing but thirty, ode to joy? rational life (should be on netflix) might work too but it's more idealistic, also less ensemble cast
Just finished it!! What a wonderful journey this has been, carrying us along with the Qiao family from the 80's…
for family drama; i'd rec https://mydramalist.com/25162-romance-of-our-parents even though i've never seen it, cnetizens loves it to bits, little rough getting subbed episodes though, there should be subs at subscenes? for down to earth slice of life featuring ladies working in big cities: remembrance of things past, the beginning is bit depressing but i promise the general tone is fairly uplifting. I heard the subs are little iffy though. for slightly happier slice of life featuring 30+ ladies (the romance is NOT the main point of the drama, it's there though, with a young guy): Rational Life, should be on netflix? hysterical romcom if YAMG isn't grabbing you: the day of becoming you
Well reincarnation plot is censored in China but the screenwriter cleverly modified it to FL being a dubbing actress…
Glad to find a fellow TVB fans, I need to rewatch the classics to rerate those dramas to be honest. Hope you like Cross Fire and Winter Begonia, they were definitely both very unique and amazing.

chinese web novels have fair amount interesting concepts and they've all been around for awhile, but not a lot of them gets adapted into dramas. e.g. romance of tiger and rose use the matriarchy as a plot gimmick so it's pretty fresh, but it's an entire subgenre in web novels.
I personally liked a lot of concepts in JoL. As long as you enjoyed the story, it's all good :)

did it on purpose for extra surprise, I feel like it's been used before honestly? but I can't give you proper examples. closest might be japanese scifi novel/anime shin sekai yori.
I find it interesting how in chinese dramas even struggling secretaries/ writers wear chanel/ysl earrrings and…
mainland is little different, the super rapid economic development caused significant part of the population to be rather materialistic. If you live in a big city, it's not uncommon for twenty something spending most of her pay on brand bags just for the status symbol, or say, use it to fish for rich boyfriends.
Tangently related, a fairly down to earth modern cdrama recently called remembrance of things past touched on this and peer pressure to get plastic surgery and such (appearance anxiety) amongst other things girls living in big cities tend to encounter. I've been told the subs aren't very good though.
Aside from that, your complaint is fairly on point, cnetizens often complain about way too expensive outfits and bags for characters, and even more noticeable, massive apartments for newly graduates or something lol.

Just a note, the joy of life background twist is from the novel, what the drama added was the first 5 minutes of the drama, where ML is working on a thesis and they literally spell out the theme of the story.
A bit mixed feelings with the ending really, it want to show their adventure continue, but rather half hanging…
the head scriptwriter was contracted to write several scripts for another company, big adaptation ip ones (joy of life, douluo continent and sword snow stride) so there's no sign of season two yet. three of the six cast member went on and had pretty well recieved dramas this year, so it'd be harder to get them back for schedule reason too mhmm.
The literal translation is “King of Glory” (hence the book/drama title). But the game is only for China netizens…
Gank your heart's game in the book is league of legends, in the drama, it's mix of LOL and DoTA. It's the same type of games, but those are played on pc, while this one is on mobile, and technically take shorter time + bit easier. The game exist for international audience too I think. The Chinese version is also called Honor of Kings, while the international version is called Arena of Valor
It's doing less well than expected, but this is technically half the story. The modern portion is also the one…
they actually gained members? *squints* Q2's stats were not pretty. I didn't know about the cheaper pricing model for rural areas, that's kind of neat. iirc, tencent's monthly visitor is 550mil-ish, when subbers are like 125mil, that's pretty rough.

tencent didn't have crime crack fast track i think, I watched you are my glory though and that had fast track in selected south east asian countries iirc.
People were pissed when fast track was broadly implemented late '19, Joy of Life got bunch of boycotters for it, but then all the episodes leaked before they finished fast track so that was FUN. With latest serious clean up, people reporting these kind of issues or just scream about it a lot on social media would definitely draw attention.
I've been following stats for most dramas this year so yeah I know they are desperate to minimise losses. What with hit against short form platforms like douyin, and early vip (poor imperial coroner got partially vip'ed before it could finish its non-vip run, and tencent had so little expectation for the drama that there were no fast track option at the beginning, they put it in last minute), I think they are all still losing members, higher prices will just lose them more members lol.

no, they charged for it, it's just iqiyi have a vvip option too (which gives you access to all fast track episodes + tv access). People are unhappy with fast track and they've been screaming about it (mostly at tencent and crime crackdown, since they thought tencent doesn't have fast track oversea), so I did see states media calling it out, I think now you can buy fast track episodes out of order instead in order? lol?
If you think this is bad, forever and ever is going flooded with 2 of the most toxic fan clubs ever. Currently…
oh yeah it's basically 99% sure it got pulled from tv, but idk if it'd still air as webdrama, rip you had to deal with their toxic fans. I'm curious about the other two you have in mind though, maybe in PM? lol
