All new korean dramas reaches no 1 on Netflix Korea and top 10 global for its first 2 weeks lol. Even Mousetrap outperformed The scandal in both viewership and buzz. The audience score is at 40% for this drama, which is very low for a Netflix original.

The drama has poor reviews domestically, which is what matters the most.

I feel like Cho Yeo Jeong would’ve done a better job as Lady Cho. She’s quite daring and the director wouldn’t have to water down her character.

Whether it’s the media or journalists voicing their opinions, it doesn’t change the fact that this drama has poor reviews. It’s the lowest rated Netflix Original released in 2026 on Kinolights and Watcha.

This director is just incapable of making a good drama. Waste of a star studded cast.

“Son Ye-jin (playing Lady Jo), returning to a historical drama after 24 years, delivers an intense performance, however falls short of replicating the languid yet seductive charisma—capable of manipulating others at will—that Lee Mi-sook exuded in the original work, settling instead for a somewhat formulaic sense of tragic solemnity. Ji Chang-wook (playing Jo-won) also fails to capture the hollow interior of a hedonistic playboy; instead, he gives the impression of a charming romantic lead from a modern trendy drama who has not quite shed that persona.

The most jarring sense of incongruity comes from Nana (playing Hee-yeon). Taking on a historical drama for the first time, her chic, urban appearance clashes with the silhouette of the *hanbok*. All Kdramas end up in top 10 for the first weekend of its release. 2nd and 3rd week will show the longevity of the series. The reviews for this drama domestically are very poor.

No. 1 on Netflix doesn’t mean anything for the first weekend. All newly released shows manages to do that. The favorability rating is at 46% and 2.5 on Watcha. Just terrible all around.

JCW is a talented actor= poor script choices. It’s about time his fangirls admit this, especially those who throws tantrums when awards season comes because he gets snubbed.

JCW is terrible at picking good scripts, and Son YeJin has the same problem for dramas. Her only good drama being CLOY, but that had more to do with Hyunbin.

His fans will finally realize that his script choices are very poor. No wonder he is not on Baeksang’s radar.
