hey SOOOO I have finished watching the drama and Definitely didn’t get enough of my man Deng Kai haha. BUT I would be very very appreciative of any recommendations for dramas with similar tropes, if you have in mind! The three trope checks mentioned in your comment hits exactly the mark for me hehe. Loove me some morally grey and obsessed ML (Oh and can’t express my satisfaction enough about no 2Fl interferences in this drama, SUCH A RELIEF!!)

Hi! Hoping for as much spoilers here hahaFrom the comments, it seems ML was VERY unforgivably scheming and manipulative. Does he become redeemable though? Could you tell me around which episode FL finds out about what he did to her in past for his revenge, and did he GROVEL HARD? I hope he was not easily forgiven cause that is hella unsettlinggg

I see there have been a few versions of this, and as tempted as I am, they are too lengthy in vertical drama standard and I don’t have the advantage of comments section since there are no youtube uploads haha. Could you tell me if there is a strong green tea game in all these versions, or lots of room for misunderstandings and doubts? In plots like this, almost all of them have misunderstandings and room for 2fl interferences stemming from FL’s self-esteem issues & the hidden marriage barrier. I have already spotted at least one potential green tea few minutes into the Wang Xing Wei version, and I was annoyed already lol. Pls let me know if any of these versions are safe in that regard!

Ngl it always keeps me on edge when fiancee arrangement still exists out there. I am guessing for the ML, its not out of his own will but some sort of family arrangement? Is he brave enough to tackle the family then? Also! How is the leads dynamic! Since you mentioned they are on and off, is it like an ambiguous entanglement or just FL pushing away ML for the most part? Firstly, I didn’t even know this drama but your review popped up in another platform and I HAD to look up the drama right away. And I come to find the review again! The way you eloquently and deliciously depicted the ML? I was sat. I didn’t even know what the drama was about but you were way too convincing in alluring me to the character I would LOVE to see come to life in his shades of morally grey and borderline red, lol. Before I watch, help me out here! I’m one of those who would rather not have my blood pressure spiked by exasperating tropes almost rooted in most cdramas. Is there any separation/breakup arc? Are there exes who are a constant nuisance and leads to troubles for our couple? I have noticed there are an awful lot of cdramas with major conflicts being ex-returns or troublesome 2Fl admirers (almost always the 2Fls) who have nothing better to do than latch onto the man and cause rifts 😭 Had enough. Please tell me this is not one of those dramas coz gosh, am I so tempted to watch the ML’s character depth unfold

Yes yes I completely agree! I am glad you pointed all these out. Admittedly nothing will wipe away the countless sins he committed, but everything else also don’t remove the misery of a life he lived. His headspace was in constant turmoil of bitterness and anger as an aftermath of brutality he was subjected to. And when he knelt in front of her, or begged for her love, my heartttt 😭 I think with some, a LOT of therapy (QianQian), there could have been hope.

I think I am one of the very few who held delusional hope for them in this timeline (understandably so. They have been a glaringly obvious case of hopeless outcome). I will just copy paste my pov from my earlier comments haha. Nm if you already read!

But by the end episode, him living as a less unhinged version of himself while being an utterly devoted lover didn’t seem too far-fetched to me. Once he, THE Qi Min has learnt to let go for the very woman he would have burnt and churned up the world for, to me that flickered the tiniest, or a little more hope for redemption even if far away from complete reformation.

As for QQ’s reciprocation (because that should matter of course). Her last reaction gave me that flicker of hope (and also her reaction when he let go of her hand! didn’t miss that!). That maybe had they spent more time together with his craze for power now diminished, with her and only her in his view of world, two hearts could unite. It would have taken time of course, but by now Qi Min should have all the patience in the world for the light of his life. Thats my take! Delusional, I know, but desperate 😭

And I continue to shed tears 😭 I am glad us Qi Min yeraners are uniting here
