Beom Seok made me so angry and pissed

Just because he has "unreciprocated" feelings for Su Ho which Su Ho didn't even know, he becomes a trash. Didn't even know who's the real friend. What an ingrate for his own petty and pathetic self. While he has a sad background but I stop feeling so bad for him. Su Ho deserves so much better, didn't lose in the ring if someone didn't cheat. Bunch of losers trying to feel the upper status

Done watching! I loved it very much. I skipped many scenes except Heesu and Seungwon. For me Seungwon carried…
The actress who played Ji Yu sang it herself 🔥

Amidst the controversy regarding on this drama, unpopular opinion, but overall I still like this because it's quite healing for me.

I don't wanna focus too much on what went wrong or should have made correct following the actual adaptation, but I wanna focus more on how this drama made me feel as a gay person. I love the fact that people whom really love you will continue to love you for who you are regardless of your sexuality. Nothing has change, embrace yourself and confess and who knows, the one you like may end up actually like you too. You never know if you never try. 🥰

Also, superb OSTs for this drama I really love most of them.

It took 5 million years to finish and now I can finally binge it. I did monitor the comments as it was airing…
I would say watching all at once is better than watching once a week.

Felt like dropping but just went ahead to force finish this as someone whom watch this once per week since already in the middle of it.

I’m just starting episode one and I’m a little confused. The synopsis says that Chen Li is the younger brother…
Chen Li is Xiao Zhi's older brother's friend, whom also kinda treated Xiao Zhi like his own brother*

*At first

Seems like the names got mixed up in Sypnosis

Personally, I feel side character acted by Choi Bo Min more handsome than Ji Won if we are talking about dating someone handsome, but maybe that's just me.

Best contract relationship prediction based on their happy faces:

Ji Min x Je Yeon
Chan Hyeon x Ha Neul
Chang Hwan x Chae Eun
Woo Jae x Ji Won

Everyone gets their 1st or 2nd choice

Jimin is fun to watch. I like how transparent he is as a person. Nothing pretentious and he doesn't seem to be in a need to be careful but it's a little tough to manage around Ha Neul since she is interested but he knows he is not as interested. It was difficult to reject someone politely without making someone get hurt.

Rooting for him with Je Yeon just cause Woojae and Jeyeon right now feel kinda force. Jeyeon says she likes Tonkatsu but ended up didn't even order Tonkatsu and their conversation doesn't flow that smoothly as Woojae can't continue a conversation on topics he is very weak in or know little about. Jimin on the other hand is just straight up interested in Jeyeon and can see minor details about her more meticulously at times such as her lips, and he can strike a conversation with her easily, killing awkwardness. But got to give it to Woojae for being able to take that golden opportunity to send her on and off work. Respect, Woojae definitely did make good use of that opportunity and initiative to ask her out.

What does Chang Hwan not able to do? This man can really cook wow. The only major issue is still probably the age gap (mentally). But sending Ha Neul a message is still not being considerate, she is only a year older than Jiwon. Other than the age issue, he is a great man, can take care of the household.

Ji Won seems to be the kind to try to move on quickly when she don't receive a message from the person of interest so that she can soothe her heartache, never felt anything from her with Chan Hyeong so it was a surprise when she asked him out the same day she got "rejected". Chan Hyeong now feels like a rebound for her to get over her initial love interest and to know someone new. It seems to bother Chang Hwan so if that's her strat it might be working.

Cha Eun is sick in the latest whole episode, nothing from her but the care the other casts gave her was heartwarming. Rooting for her with Chan Hyeong.

While Ha Neul is obviously interested with Ji Min, but I think she picked Chan Hyeong so far consistently because she knows Ji Min won't choose her (text message). Chan Hyeong is her second choice because deep in her mind still lingers feeling for Ji Min. I think physical aesthetic wise, Ji Min is more appealing to her although his character IMO, is less as compared to Chan Hyeong since Ji Min is the kind to be able to hurt others easily while his focus is on his own interest. Ha Neul obviously is hurt from Ji Min's gestures but still can't help to stop and give herself more respect.

I can understand Ji Min's bluntness and realness and while I like him, his flaw is very transparent too, but that's something only Ha Neul can help herself since Ji Min has been clear to not choose #2 since it's rude in his POV. Personal choice, and I respect and like his dedication.

Rooting for:
1. Ji Min x Je Yeon
2. Chan Hyeong x Cha Eun
3. Ji Won x Chan Hwan (their age gap is for them to get over it. While it's "ick", but I won't be judgy since it's their love life. Whotf are we to be involved if at the end of the day, they can accept and that's all that matters imo)

Nobody is suitable for Woo Jae's laidback character at the moment (Je Yeon saying she likes everything Woo Jae likes so far clearly was cause "Love is blind" and their differences have been made more obvious currently), and Ha Neul's top 2 choices have their own ship.

i thought that was only me....I saw sooo much hype about this drama and no doubt some scenes I saw beforehand…
Hmm, I don't know how to explain. In short, when watching "half way", the story is not talking about the character, but talking about you. How you are treating your parents etc.etc., like if you can see yourself in the characters, you will be able to think that you are actually part of the story. Not looking at a mature bystander point of view in terms of life lesson, but for a mirror to look at yourself and reflect

There will be a huge difference if somehow somewhere you see yourself in character(s).

Maybe not in this drama for you, but for Asians like me, Geum Myeong is the most similar person closest to my character.

You see how she treated her parents (in the past), it's actually quite similar to my attitude when I am focused more on myself, on things that I don't rather than things that I already own/have which are far more fortunate than my parents' times.

If you ever wonder how your grandmother and mother generation lived their life, you will likely learn to be more grateful as compared to the times we are currently living in compared to theirs.

And if you ever be a parent or currently is a parent with kids, please don't show favoritism to one child as there will be negative impact to the one neglected.

Some people say that Ae Sun losing a child (son) should have treasured her still living other son but she showed favoritism to her eldest and favourite child, it's exactly why it's telling us that we shouldn't be doing that. If you think about her son's position, he's actually the middle child and in the real world, there's alot of middle child whom actually said that they indeed were neglected. If you ever be a parent or is currently a parent, this may be something relatable to tell you what is best not to be done to your kids. It's not exactly telling you what you should do, but it's highly advisable for you not to do it (showing favouritism bringing negative impact to the neglected child).

Also, parents worked hard with barely enough and manage to feed us and give us higher education compared to them. When we age to growing up and maturing as adults, they age too. Birth, age, sickness and death happens to everyone. While working hard for the family, eventually Gwan Sik got Cancer and died. He hasn't really lived his life. My Dad passed away with my mum left. It kinda tells me that she is currently still living for me to spend more time with her before the cycle of Death comes. We still can do what we can for the current one we care/love while they are still around with us.

When you are able to see a reflection of yourself in characters, for me I will be able to ponder and self reflect. Unlike other dramas about life lesson, usually you don't take back that personally because those life lessons aren't referring to yours. But this drama is speaking out to those whom can relate as if they are giving us a Wake Up Call.

This drama's High Rating is very reasonable for non-Escapism watchers.

This is a Wake Up Call drama at least for me. Have never encountered anything that hits as close as this to telling me something as if they are putting themselves in my shoes to convey a message about myself that I subconsciously either overlook, I didn't know or I didn't think about before, whether it's about the past or the present. It's not 100% since this isn't anybody's full story, but most of the time while I can sympathise in a drama, this one at times reflect a Mirror where I can see myself in some of the characters. It also makes me ponder about how my Grandmother and Mother generations lived their lives when they were young/still alive.

While I believed this drama is meant to be relatable to many Asians, it's also perfectly fine if you couldn't relate but see this as a 3rd party story and may find this boring. But kindly don't dismiss the High Rating as if it's not deserving just because it's not your cup of tea. There's really no drama meant for Everybody.

I came in to watch the drama without expecting much since the story seems ordinary and mediocre but I am astonished on how this drama still stuck with me despite that it officially ended in March. Parents aren't really superheroes, but we are generally more fortunate than they are in their time if we learnt how to focus on what we have rather than just on what we don't

While we can't do anything about the past, but we can start doing something about our present for the future, and cherish the people we love/care while we still can as we still have the chance to do so before they passed due to the cycle of birth, age, sickness and death

And also at the end of the day, I find that the drama is making me more human than I was. When dealing with people in the real world, I think we are generally more guarded. But here, I could be vulnerable and emotional where the drama is speaking to me and the hearts of many similar watchers "meet". It was heartwarming to hear the stories of others as well as some individuals' version of their real life Gwan Sik that they know. ❤️

what is making this drama so special to have such unprecedented high ratings? didn't watch it yet just wondering
Late reply but basically this drama serves as a Mirror for Self Reflection. Not 100% since nobody is the same, but many times we overlook on ourselves until someone else is there to point it out for it to make sense for you.

Of course, whether if there is any effect/impact or not, it's entirely up to individual. But generally speaking for someone whom can relate, it's a Wake Up Call.

Agree to disagree. Already said so, similarly to why you don't understand the hype, it's the same opposite of why we do.

And I reread my own reply and I don't think I am condescending but whichever floats your way.

Again, no drama is meant for everybody. You are not the target audience, that's okay
