Korean Drama '' A Killer Paradox '' is an edgy drama that explores the morality of murder, when the victim is a killer themselves. The drama does a great job presenting the main character's journey from guilt, remorse, fear, and acceptance. On that front, the drama escapes from the basic crime dramas and gives its main lead a more humane act.
On the other hand, the rest of the characters weren't as deeply explored. They were left as cells of their descriptions and nothing beyond.
Also, the story, though initially impressive, failed to keep the momentum. The cinematography was enjoyable and original, yes, but, in the end, left a lot of things unsaid, as the shift from one scene to another had a few moments playing off-camera. This technique was nice at first but got tiring in the end.
Also, the sci fi element wasn't explored at all and it was left as a thought.
Finally, the performances were all enjoyable and the relationship between the characters was sweet.
So, overall, six out of ten.

Korean Drama '' My Man is Cupid '' is a fantasy romantic comedy. The concept of the story, though unique, was quite idiotic overall. It wasn't well executed, though the group of fairies offered many funny moments and their chemistry was spot on. A chemistry that, unfortunately, the main couple didn't have. Therefore, their romantic moments were awkward, which was aided by the absorbed behavior of the main female lead who often acted out so strangely towards the main male lead that more often than not baffled him and the audience as well.
Other than that, the mystery case was pretty intense and interesting.
The performances were okay as well.
So, overall, three out of ten.

Japanese Movie '' Kazoku '' is a drama that blends multiple stories of four men and their families. The movie has a brilliant cinematography, with smooth shots and nicely handled light and shadows. The sharp editing also helped with the story's mood, with some scenes bringing to mind home movies.
On the other hand, the movie suffered a lot due to its short length. As it is a film about four different characters and their families, a one hour and twenty minutes run time is too short for the stories to develop properly and for the message to come across. Thus, the whole film felt like a music video, with half-baked storylines; storylines that had so much potential, especially Kenji's and Takeo's.
Finally, the performances were enjoyable and really strong by everyone in the cast.
So, overall, four out of ten.

Korean Drama " My Dearest part 2" is the second part of the popular tv series, giving the story a proper ending. The drama is a turbulence of a story, with a melodramatic plot with many twists. However, this time around, they tended to repeat things and plot twists. They also focused too much on the palace politics and deprived screen time from other main side characters, thus, leaving their stories half baked.
Still, the story was enjoyable and the ending just right for the mood of the drama.
The performances, finally, were great by everyone.
So, overall, seven out of ten.

The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch

Not Good Enough
Korean Drama " The Uncanny Counter Season Two: Cunter Punch " is the second season of the popular supernatural action drama. And, unfortunately, it fails to deliver. The story feels too thinly spread, based only on trying to make the bad guys look more evil and their actions being shocking, rather than following the story of the counters and enhancing their strong bond. Sure, we get some background on some of them, but it just isn't enough to keep things interesting till the end. As the main thing, the world built, was already established, the drama needed an intriguing story to expand it, but that didn't happen. In the end, it was a lukewarm drama with an okay/predictable plot.
The performances, on the other hand, were all great and the CGI enjoyable.
So, overall, five out of ten.

Korean Drama " Song of the Bandits " is an edgy historical drama that resembles the western films. The story is about a freed slave who creates a team of misfits in order to strike back at those who want to take over.
The drama has an edgy cinematography, with beautiful shots and lighting, as well as a soundtrack that feels just right for the mood of the drama. The costumes and CGI were also spot on.
On the other hand, the story isn't well handled, with some twists being repeated and some dramatic scenes not being convincing. Also, some storylines needed more time to be fully developed, when others were tragic enough to keep things interesting and the characters to be easily sympathized with.
Finally, the performances were enjoyable by everyone in the cast.
So, overall, five out of ten.

Korean/ USA Movie " Past Lives " is a drama about what ifs, lost relationships, and identity. The movie has impressive cinematography, with a gloomy New York as the main setting, offering the right space for the melancholic tone of the story. And true, the plot is quite blue, with the two main characters missing chance after chance to be together. At the same time, the questions of identity and home are often set out to become obstacles for them, other than bad timing and bad decisions.
Other than that, the movie seems to never reach that burst that the story needed, whether that was a happy ending or a tragic ending. Also, the time jumps were plenty and messed up the pace and the cohesiveness of the story.
Finally, the performances were smooth and enjoyable by every actor and actress in the cast.
So, overall, five out of ten. It's an interesting movie, but it turns out to be just okay.

Korean Drama " Heavenly Idol " is a fantasy drama about a heavenly priest who suddenly becomes an idol.Right from the beginning, the drama doesn't take itself seriously and it continues with the light, silly mood till the very ending. Thus, the whole heavenly politics/battle of good and evil was set aside and was underdeveloped, especially since it wasn't easy to make the viewer care for them when the rest of the story is a comedy.
The romance was another part of the drama that was awkward. It could easily be omitted actually without any effect on the main plot, as the couple didn't have chemistry as lovers and were better off as friends. Not to mention that their romantic encounters were few.
Finally, the performances were enjoyable by everyone in the cast and the CGI good enough.
So, overall, four out of ten.

Japanese Drama " Mitaraike Enjou Suru " is a revenge family drama. The story is pretty basic and, in theory, it is enjoyable, but it goes astray in the second half. Plus, things get out of hand and the result is so-so, kind of unsatisfying and anticlimactic, but okay overall.
The performances, on the other hand, were pretty enjoyable and everyone handled their characters masterfully. The characters, in addition, were interesting, especially the side characters that really did great and supported the main ones that often were too stereotypical melodrama characters.
So, overall, five out of ten.

Korean Drama " Doctor Romantic Season Three " is the third part of the popular medical series. Following the same pattern as they did in the previous ones, it offers plenty of action packed and emotional cases, while focusing on the doctors and the personnel. In addition, the cast of the second season was back in full speed, with even those from the first season being added, which brought some nostalgic feelings forward. The performances, moreover, were all enjoyable and everyone handled their characters masterfully.
The plot was also entertaining, though the cases and the political intrigue were more interesting compared to the romance part of the story. Actually, the love stories could have been omitted, as they were added in awkward moments, like when the hospital was dealing with a crisis and had to treat dozens of patients at once.
So, overall, seven and a half out of ten.

Korean Drama " The Tale of The Nine-Tailed Season 2 1938 " is the continuation of the story of the 2020 fantasy drama. This time, the story goes back in time, focusing on the family bonds, rather than the romance, which, in this case, was limited as a subplot, which really aided the drama.
The drama, in addition, blended smoothly the action scenes with mythological and historical elements, as well as with more emotional plotlines along with enjoyable comedy.
The costumes were, moreover, spot on and pleasing. The performances were great as well.
So, overall, 8.5 out of 10.

Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist Season 2

Not Good Enough
Korean Drama " Poong: The Joseon Psychiatrist Season Two " is the sequel and continuation of the story of Poong and his team. The drama is more romance focus this time, though there were quite the cheesy moments when it came to the couple.
The comedy was, on the other hand, more enjoyable. Especially the princess was a pretty entertaining character.
As for the mystery, it was okay at first, and offered a few action and suspenseful things, but it got boring.
The performances were, still, great by everyone in the cast.
So, overall, four out of ten.
