Qi Jiu's story is a bit disappointing. His endeavors fall flat for me. Even his failure fell flat. His journey is a trip on nice rounded hills. in comparison to Li Zhen's story which is full of jagged cliffs.

I assume he was a junior Marshal. He was given a responsibility which was only mentioned but never really addressed.

I'm from the US. But I watch these dramas mainly for their rich culture. You definitely can't really enjoy Asian dramas without having some kind of understanding of their culture. That can be said about every region of the world.
