Yes that'll be straight up phobia. Forget dating, if you noticed they're very carefully avoiding important interactions between the two male actors. They even have gl kiss because they're in m/f form but no m/m so far. It's not posible to be there with your love interest all over the place and not percieve beyond their gender. The drama has so many m/f kisses, to balance it out atleast one kiss between ml and fl's male version is absolutely needed.

Yes. Their storyline is the most common trope in omegaverse. If you've read omegaverse before you probebly know how typical these kind of stories were in early omegaverse works. But as most people aren't familiar with this genre stories they would find this relatable and get attached. But as you said people like tropes and their story is full of tropes so there's no deny that the cliche tropes are attracting them the most.

If you read fanfiction you might know that there's tag called p*rn without plot---- that's what they're.They've no interest in stories, acting, plots cinematography, music anything just give them nc scenes and they'll ride the heck out of it. Only this novel go with the virus thing. Don't assume every omegaverse has this element. In most other omegaverse you’ll not find anything like that. It just a genre of it's own. A world of it own. They're other genres similar to this like --- dom/sub verse, esper/guide verse etc. Every other genre has its own world and rules. If not wrong it is started by Supernatural fandom. Some claim it's started by Exo fandom. But Supernatural fandom has the earliest works in this genre. Idk, might be wrong too.
