I'm on ep 4. I'm not a fan of the dubbing, and some of the music/sound effects are too jarring for me, but I'm going to see where it goes. I agree so far the story hasn't been anything outside of the usual xianxia in the past several years. However, the scriptwriter has produced some really great fantasy/xianxia stories in the past with some deeper themes, so I'm hoping things develop in a more interesting way later.

She didn’t have much depth in the novel, so we’ll see how they utilize the character here. I hope they give the actress something more to play with or else it’s another annoying second female lead to me.

Very different. While both are essentially revenge stories, romance is not as important here as it was in TLB (which I also enjoyed too). However, I liked the chemistry between the leads here - it's understated and befits the generally serious tone of the drama.

If you like political intrigue, mystery and complex characters (the antagonists are really fascinating here), you should check this one out.
