The movie was quite good but was a bit confusing. Only cause of this one reason, I prefer the drama over the movie. Otherwise, the acting was really good and I'm glad, they kept the OST the same as the drama.
If anyone understood the ending, kindly explain it to me.
Overall, this was a good movie. The acting and cinematography were amazing, but my favorite part was definitely the cook-off scenes. Another aspect that I really liked was how well the movie captured the high-pressure and stressful environment of working in restaurants and it was interesting to see how at times, chefs cross the line when experimenting with different foods (the hornbill scene is based on a true story).
However, I rated it a 7 because the plot was okay, nothing too extraordinary. Throughout the movie, I was waiting for something big or explosive to happen, but it never did. Now, this might be me and my personal taste. Also, another issue I had was with the character development for Aoy. It felt rushed as in one minute she was working in her family's restaurant, the next she joined Hunger as a fry chef, and suddenly she became the head chef. It all happened really fast, so was a bit too unrealistic.
All in all, this was a good movie, just not great (in my view).
welp thats kinda the point of manga, epic battlefield war action. there will be other part of story thats focus…
I see, so the movie is sticking closely to the manga. I haven't read the manga but really looking forward to seeing more of Shin and Eisei together in Part 3. It would be even better if we could see Shin, Kyoukai, and Eisei all together on screen at the same time. That would be the perfect combo!
This was okay-ish. My expectation was for Season 2 to have the same vibes as Season 1, which included thrilling action, bromance and well-executed fight scenes but unfortunately, that was not the case. In my view, Season 2 was basically 80% fight scenes and 20% plot, making it a little lackluster for me.
The actors did a really good job and even the directing was quite good. If only the plot was as elaborate as Season 1, this would have been a solid sequel.
I would rate this show a solid 8.5/10 as I found the ending to be slightly unsatisfying.
While Sumire got the ending she deserved, I felt as though Kiyo did not. Throughout the series, we see Kiyo selflessly taking care of others, cooking, and cleaning for them, but it seemed as though she did not receive the same level of care in return. Don't get me wrong, Sumire was a good person and great friend but their friendship just didn't feel equal to me. Also, it would have been nice if we got a little more background into our main characters.
Of course, this is just me and my personal opinion. Nonetheless, I still believe that "The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House" is a well-executed and well-acted drama with stunning cinematography, beautiful soundtrack, and delicious food. I'm glad I gave this show a chance.
Would recommend this to anyone looking for a break from shows that feature crime, evil characters or jealousy,
Wish I could just forget everything I just watched and watch it all over again. Loved this show!
Also, Song Hye Kyo and Jung Sung Ill (Ha Do Young) deserve a show together as leads. The chemistry between them was no joke. I just keep rewatching their scenes.
This drama had a strong start but a rushed ending.
'Avalanche' had a crazy plot from the get-go and I was all for it but the ending just took away all the fun. It seemed as though the writers lost their point and just rushed to give us a satisfactory ending. I am still trying to wrap my head around the whole 'terrorism' plot, there was just too much happening at one point in the drama.
The acting and the production was excellent. I absolutely loved Fukushi Sota but have mixed feelings about his character 'Saijo'. There were times when I felt as though his character was unnecessary and never really got the opportunity to shine unlike the other characters. But this might just be me.
All in all, this is one of those dramas where people will have different opinions, some might say it 'amazing' while other may say its 'okay.' It really boils down to the viewer.
This drama's just AMAZING and with every episode, it only gets better and better. S1 felt like it was building up to something unimaginable and I believe S2 is where all the action and the actual 'revenge' will take place.
Waiting for March to arrive eagerly and really looking forward to S2.
This drama was the definition of ‘intense’. I had read the entire plot in the past and thought was finally ready for it but nope, no amount of mental preparation could prepare me for the revelations in the last two episodes.
Thought nothing could ever make me cry as much as ‘Scarlet Heart’ but nope, I was wrong yet again.
Honestly, I pitied everyone in the drama. No one’s life was perfect. But the scene that was the most memorable for me was the last two seconds at end, where Kanzo stops crying and suddenly smiles out of the blue. The scene was the perfect representation of the quote "life goes on".
I don't think I'll be forgetting this drama anytime soon (or ever).
This was a brilliant movie to start the new year with. Didn’t realize how much I needed it until I started watching. Definitely a must watch, especially for those who are going through a rough patch.
I personally liked this movie but there are two things I must admit - Firstly, it takes a while to grasp everything that’s happening in the film, as a lot of names & characters are thrown at you at once and secondly, the story becomes more enjoyable as it progresses (somewhere around the middle, to be accurate).
Overall, the movie is neither perfect nor realistic but if you're into the theme of 'crime & investigation' and like the whole concept of 'good guys always win', then this one's for you.
A sad yet beautiful drama about a woman damaged beyond repair. I want to say so much more but feel that anything beyond the above-mentioned will spoil the drama.
It was going really well except in the last 2 episodes, a lot of things happened which made the experience a little overwhelming. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed it and especially liked how each and every character was likable and there were no villains. Overall, the drama was a mic of romance and slice of life.

I have seen the top 4 and they're all truly amazing dramas and are my favourites. Need to check out out the other three 😊
