Beautiful and tragic story

Many spoilers ahead.

Can’t believe at first I didn’t want to watch this drama, but now it’s probably in my top 5 watch of 2025 so far. I watched more than 20 2025 dramas so far and not many succeeded to keep me really interested, waiting for more eps. I was waiting and watching mostly everyday for this one. I was glued to my TV for the last 6 eps. Made me feel hapiness and sadness. A cried a lot, that says how much I was attached to this drama and it succeeded for me

The Good for me :
- Such a good group and friendship, I enjoyed and like every characters. Their bond and friendship was great to watch. I got attached and felt for the characters
- This drama has many good love story :
1) Baimu Yao x Du Niang Jun : not much to say for those 2, there were there for a such short time, no time to get attached or feel anything for me. But he sacrificed himself for her clan and for her in the end, we can see they loved each other.

2) Yang Yang x ? (man I forgot his name and can’t find him in the cast list, anyway you know who I mean) : ep 8, such a sad episode. The second tragic love story, they just wanted to be together. Zhang Ruo Nan acted very well, I felt her pain. I hated her family, they bullied him even on their wedding day and caused his dead. That was satisfying when she cuted ties with her family and left. That father was the worst. We never say her again, be we knows she’ll alive and should live a few years.

3) Dongfang Huai Zhu x Wangquan Hong Ye : I loved the leads characters and their love story very much. I felt their love, they loved each other so bad, broke my heart at the end. I think their story flow nicely, at first as mask man and then slowly working together and falling in love. They confessed, got together around eps 16-18 ? I don’t remember, but I think it was at a good time, almost middle of the story, I appreciated that. They were cute and I think they had chemistry. The little moments, holding hands, hugs, spending time together. Like at the end of ep 28 ? the marriage proposal or when they did the firework for his sister. She was like ‘’you want to watch the fireworks with me’’. He responds ‘’no I don’t’’, she says ‘’Yes you do’’ their smiles and playful talk, ah I want what they have. They made me smile and cry. They had a pretty healthy and mature relationship, good communication in general, helping, supporting each other, working together throw hard ship. Strong, powerful and great couple. No breakup, a bit distant close to the end which is totally understandable after both and mostly him losing so much. I will talk about the ending below for everyone

4) Wangquan Zhui x Yang Yi Tan : loved these 2. They were cute and also loved each other very much. From childhood companion to friend to engaged. I also appreciated the little moments and when they finally got together. For them too, also middle of the story ? They loved and wanted to protect each other. They never got to get married

5) zhang Zheng x Quing Mu Yuan : another interesting couple. I liked his background, thought that was interesting. They didn’t have much time together ☹ She never gave up on him. the couple that had maybe the less horrible kiss.

6) Jiu Huo x Ji Lan : I liked how they gave almost an episode on their backstory. It made us understand more the villains and how they became like that, how the Black Fox came to life. He did everything to get her back, sacrificed, but in the end he lost her a long time ago. Also the betrayal, she has been dead long ago. He had no will to live anymore and I felt it when he said he wishes for her to be free. We could somehow appreciate these 2 in my opinion even if they lead to our beloved characters downfall, I’ll get back to it when I’ll talk about the villains.

Love in Pavillon has a great main couple and romance, I think that this is one of the things Red Moon Pact failed at.

And 0 love triangle or much of third wheel at all, only that senior who was obsessed with FL, but that was very minimal and very limited screetime in general

- I liked the costumes, setting, scenery
- CGI was good in general
- Some were maybe less interesting at time, but I enjoyed the different arcs and the story, character we saw amount the way,
- Other relationship :
1) Dongfang Huai x Dongfang Qin Lan : I liked the bond between the sisters. Heartbreaking when they lost their father, FL did everything to get her out and save her. Sadly they never met again before FL died. She was a bit annoying to me when she was between the leads, but at least the writer did not get far with that and she wasn’t too much.
2) Wangquan x Hong Ye : another great sibling dynamic. Since they were kids, he has been protecting her, he failed in the end. I cried again when he was in the cave with the masks and when he got to her mask, he broke down crying…
3) It was interesting to see the story of FL’s parents with the flashbacks
- The actors : I think everyone did good. I think I will praise a bit Zhang Yun Long. I think he did a great performance and expressed well the emotions
- The villains of the story :
1) Jiu Huo x Ji Lan : strong, powerful and intelligent villains. Black Fox was such an evil villain. Like damn, that was crazy to see, how she made them kill each other. I actually could appreciate a strong and very evil antagonist. I think in the end, these 2 characters were pretty interesting to watch. Some dramas, the villains can be annoying or boring or whatever, that when they appear on the screen, you want to skip them, but I didn't felt this here.
2) FL’s senior : that was a bit of a led down, just an annoying and not really interesting villain unfortunately. Bro was delulu ahah

Ending: (eps 32-36)

First off, I like how it’s a clear ending, still a bit tiny open because the story is not over, Sword and Beloved coming next, but no BS everyone who is dead is dead, no weird open ending (like cough cough Red Moon Pact). I actually liked the ending. ML and their son, hope for the future, every clan and everyone preparing themselves for what is to come next, getting back on their feet. the Black Fox will come back again some day too.

Also I already knew even before the drama started that almost everyone will die and what is the ending, so I was prepared for what was to come and can’t complain about that.

ML tried to go alone, but they still all followed. They were not prepared enough or ready or strong enough in my opinion. All went to sh*it fast, it was doom anyway with the third eyes already possessed. ML succeeded alone in the end ☹ I like the little talk between ML and his father.

Let’s go down one by one :

1) First off, we lost zhang Zheng x Quing Mu Yuan : His death was a bit of a lead down, I was so happy when he resisted the black fox's control, but died pretty fast and easily at her hand. Even her, she tried, but way to weak to defeat the black fox. Anyway, how to live after this, she liked her lover, at least they died together. I wasn’t that affected by their deaths honestly.

2) After that, the Li brothers : damn these 2 got me crying☹ so that is how he came to be in a wheel chair. I liked the flashbacks, how much the older one loved and protected his younger brother. Sacrificed his hand and life work to save him back then. Now younger brother wanted to be the one to protect and save. He decided to become the vessel and sacrifice himself, but plot twist, the brother exchanged his life with him to save him. The talisman his brother gave him was not a life-saving talisman, but a life-exchanging talisman. I liked how they wrote this. His fate didn’t change, he still lived. And like seriously, how he was so close to see Qui Lan again, not nah, they will never meet again.

3) Next, Wangquan Zhui x Yang Yi Tan and the other group member (I am so bad with names) : how tragic, they made Yang Yi Tan kill his love. The little flashback of the life she dreamt for them, sadly that will never come true. He killed their friend. His daughter will never see him come back as a hero, when that dialogue came up… so sad. Then he decides to destroy his third eyes and kill himself, tragic but the way to stop the black fox from controlling him. Now they can rest in peace together.

All those sacrifices, was it worth it?

4) ML losing them, that man is left broken after killing Black Fox. No will to live or continue. Poor FL also suffering and wondering if he is alive. She just wants to go to the pavillon again with him. Then ML shows up, save her and wedding. Concubine was a bit nah, but it was the plan, FL understood and in the end, she's just like an official wife. Distant a bit at first, which I think is understandable, he lost his sword spirit, depressed? broken, name it… She was so glad he came back. They reconcile and FL made that plan with their child. Their child will be so strong. So sad, they love each other so bad, she knew she was dying and wanted to spend the most time possible with him and their child, but that was short lived. ML was so happy to be a father and motivations. When she talked to the child and said he has to stay with his dad and keep him company, because she knows she will be gone and won’t be able to do it (and he lost everyone else), I lost it and cried again. Honestly cried a lot in the last 4 eps. They never got to go together to the pavillon either. Then her last wish, last hug and it’s over. Their story touched me.

Other points:
1) kissing scenes for every couple were bad
2) Wish they have shown again Qui Lan even if we know she’s alive.
3) The couple in the future: that could have been better and it was stupid how they made her kill herself to get blue eyes back
4) Music was a bit meh at time, but I particularly liked a lot one of the ost
5) I liked how FL found out early that ML is the mask man
6) Had maybe some more boring moments or eps in the first half, but seriously pretty much every drama to me has those. Don't know if I ever watched a drama that had zero boring or less interesting moments
7) they really should not have released Red Moon Pact first

Anyway, to conclude, for me a great watch, likeable characters, friendship and great love story. glad I watch this drama. You need to prepare for the sadness, but I definitely recommend this drama anyway

Love through seven lifetime - beautiful drama

I really love the concept of this drama. I love romance and this dramas gave it. We got to see them falling in love again and they were so cute together. They also have good chemistry and they were together for lots of of episodes in my opinion compared to other dramas. There was no misunderstanding, no break up also.

They loved each other so much, they were truly fated and it’s was beautiful to see also the past when they first meet and fell in love. All the details too, like the red string and the soul protector spell. I absolutely loved that

I really loved the ML, he was so cute and handsome. I love his acting. The FL was good too.

It’s was sad and beautiful, made me cry, smile and laugh. The second couple broke my heart too.

CGI and costumes were beautiful. love the ost

Some negative point for me :
- the kissing scenes were horrible
- the second lead was so annoying for most of the drama, I just wanted him to go away and die. He was always in the way and he was delusional if he ever thought he had a chance. At least he got useful at the end.
- happy ending, but I hate 1 min happy ending, it makes me mad. Like the ML died early in the episode, the could have show a lot more of the happy ending of the main leads. I didn’t care about the others and the people in the heavenly realm, they showed too much of them. I read somewhere that in the novel they get married in the end, we needed more. Also, all the talk about completing their wedding, travel together, etc and we got nothing
- also the ending for the second couple, why ? It’s like an open ending, I wanted him to recognize her and run to her. They both left their way.
- so I don’t know in general the ending wasn’t good enough for me, so…. had to give 9,5 and not 10/10

I would recommend this drama

Not my cup of tea

I think I am gonna drop this for now and maybe watch it in spare time in the background, at least English dub available, it’s easier for that. When I get to the point of watching with English dub while doing something else, it’s not a good sign

After the first 1-2 eps, I thought this could be interesting and I mostly liked it. But I honestly forced myself to watch after that. It is like the story is not clicking to me, it quite boring and I think 16 eps on only one case is not interesting to me. I don’t like much either the main characters and I am not into them. Maybe Kim Jong Hyeon is the character that interests me the most.

I don’t like to compare, but I think a concept like Flex x cop, with in the first half solving different cases every ep was more engaging. Like here we have everything related to one case for 16 eps… I don’t know

Also, could have passed on the cliche of ML having a crush on FL for years. There could have been a way more interesting way to add the romance than this… Should have made them meeting for the first time in ep 1 and the team in general.

I know it’s comedy, but this feel stupid at time and childish? I know ML has trauma and his behavior can be understandable, but I just don’t like him that much. Not my kind of ML

At least the action scenes are pretty good and I think acting is decent

Anyway, to be continued. *** or not, few weeks lager, I am definitely not finishing this👋

kinda mid but still good

it took me a while to finish, I started while it was airing at the beginning. At last got more interesting pass ep 30.
I wouldn’t recommend to someone who wants to watch this only for romance, the romance was mostly a side plot and slow burn. It was more at the end. We’ll get back to it.

The good for me :
- the acting from everyone I would say
- the music
- the costumes, makeup and hair. Everything was good and pretty
- cinematography and setting were good
- both FL and ML are very good and interesting characters. Smart, strong in their own way, beautiful and capable. Them working together. I like how they overturn the evil people plans and were often on step ahead. Like against concubine and the aunt. ML can fight.
- no annoying problems or misunderstandings between the leads
- I was particularly interested in ML story. How he rises to his position, getting first place in the exams one by one and become top scholar
- I think my fav thing about this drama is Duke Ying. Probably became my fav character, I loved him a lot. Such a good and caring dad, a good person, etc… Awnn how he cried when she got married. When they first met, how he seemed nervous and rearranging his clothes and hat. Such a good and refreshing character. Also… for a “middle age men” he was hot ahahaha
- the relationship between FL and her father and biological family. How she got close to her siblings. I liked every interactions of FL and her dad
- I love both grandma
- I really loved the mother character, how she both cared for them as her own children. She’s a good mom and good person.
- second couple was cute I guess even if I didn’t really like them much
- The wedding was beautiful, even if trash guy interrupted.
- happy ending, pretty good and decent ending. Wasn’t rushed and it’s good we got to see them with a kid. The last scene with everyone was very good, seeing the siblings and cousins back (we haven’t seen them since first master wife exile I think). Satisfying everyone on good terms and happy I guess (not really the dad for me, but we have to accept it)
- the last few eps were good and exciting for the most part

Negatives point for me :
- I feel like this at some point for almost every cdramas, even more 40 eps dramas (that’s very long), it get dragging and boring at some point in the middle mostly. But here, not gonna lie, I was bored a lot compared to normally even with the great leads characters. I watched a lot at 1,5-2x. The beginning was good, we were getting to know the characters, ML doing the exams, but I was bored and then after ep 30 got more interesting again. 5 eps+ could have been cut and that could’ve help. 40 eps was too long, Maybe this kind of drama was not for me. Felt slow at time, a lot of talking, scheming family members and not much action. little ML actions moments and fighting were good though. I watched before some cdramas maybe a bit more oriented on family and less on romance too, but I was more hooked. I honestly can’t point out why I wasn’t that into the drama. Maybe if I watched it last years or at another time it could have been different, I will never know
- Personally it was too long for the reveal (it dragged for me, but not surprise Cdramas writers almost always drag things), almost ep 30. FL with her biological family was one of the best thing, we could have got 5 more eps of that at least
- ML dad, he was trash, treated them badly for years, no consequences whatsoever, redemption arc. He became just fine all of the sudden and happy with them at the end
- I don’t think the romance was that good. I say some chemistry and enjoyed scenes. They were cute together though. Few peck kisses and hugs, bed scene was cute, they also look good together
- SML was such a lame and annoying character. The actor did a good job I would still say, he’s handsome and a good actor, second time I see him. He was doing the annoying guy with unrequited love in “A date with the future”. The guy had nothing going on except being obsessed with FL, wanted to be with her and force her. It the only thing I will remember him has. Did he even do anything else ? I honestly don’t remember, wasn’t paying much attention since I just find him annoying and uninteresting. He could have been an interesting character maybe if his point was not only being obsessed with FL. he still got some good moments against ML. Every scene was just repetitive and annoying at some point, I was rolling my eyes at the end. Him and FL “running into each other”, the same interactions all over again through the episodes. It wasn’t necessary… But at least he wasn’t that present and FL was pretty clear. I liked how she wasn’t swamped by him and was trying to keep distance and didn’t care about him. He was delusional till the end. Kidnapping her on her wedding night… that was too much…. and was not needed. Ah can’t stand this guy. At least he’s dead, but kinda easy death… and why did they make him die saving her, just nah
- I’m sorry, but the worst things in all of this for me was FL calling him THIRD BROTHER till the very end, even when they are a couple, married and with a kid! it was already kinda turned off for me to enjoy the developing romance because she still called him “brother” after she find out he was not her brother. that was just so weird to me that she called him that till the end, I don’t know why they wrote this
- FL’s voice is not that bad, people were exaggerating. Maybe a bit at first, but got over it pretty fast. not something to make you drop at all

I still rated it pretty high regardless of these because of the positive point

So since the leads are great and the plot is interesting in general, friendship and good family moments, happy ending, I would recommend

started off good, but went a bit down hill for me

I was looking forward to this drama. I was like « something different » and I like fake dating trope.

I enjoyed more maybe the first half, I think it was funny and I liked where it was going. But around ep 7, I started to loose some interest and became boring for some reason even if I still enjoyed the comedy in general. I think the writing wasn’t that good. The romantic story of the leads became less interesting and not that develop well.

I think the leads have good chemistry and look good together. maybe not enough romance for me.

I also liked :
- the friendship between the sisters
- assistant-ceo duo
- brothers duo
- in general I liked the second couple, but I’m not sure them falling in love made sense with such few scenes. they were cute and think had chemistry. the office date was perfect, when they had matching energy by playing the novel’s character. they had a good ending too
- the fake wedding was beautiful
- ML fake proposal was so cute
- I think the acting was good
- SML coming to save SFL and fighting her dad
- few romantics moments between the leads
- 3FL finally ending her relationship and deciding to raise her child alone (with her sister of course). That relationship was just weird and very uninteresting to me.

SML was a bit annoying but not really

FL’s ex, he was trash. they didn’t give proper closure. what happened ? guy is living happily and getting recognition at work (unsatisfying) and what happened with his wife ? who seemed like a decent and kind person, still think it was trash of FL to not tell her she dated him, he literally dated both of them at the same time and wanted to have an affair with her.

The conflicts between the leads in the last few ep were just cliché and unnecessary… don’t talk to me about the stupid breakup in the last ep and 5-10 min reunion-happy ending. that was trash and lazy writing. Actually, the leads in the last ep in general was bad writing to me. Rushed and unsatisfying ending. The leads dated for real for like 2 sec

And feel like no proper ending regarding the brothers and their father(SML parents I could say too) even second couple and his parents

I personally liked it and was looking forward every week for the new episodes. It wasn’t a masterpiece, but light and enjoyable to me. It was mostly a family healing drama

No big angst or problems and absolutely no annoying love triangle. I think it had some good funny moments and the mystery was intriguing me at first with the landlord death and the dad money.

The young couple :
I actually loved them. I liked watching their scenes and the development of their relationship. I also think they got good chemistry. For me, I think it was refreshing to see a couple when the characters meet for the first time and slowly fall in love. Not friends (when they already know each other or were friends when the drama begins) to lovers or childhood friends like we often see.

The parents :
I was interesting in how their story would turned out. In the end, I think we could say they were both kinda bad parents… but they both know they made mistakes

The families relationship:
- I liked the bound between mother and daughter.
- I like Tae Pyeong and his father : I really like this 2 and their relationship, we could see how they cared for each other and I liked their ending/last scene together
- the brother was annoying most of the time, but I think we got to understand why he was like that.
- the development with the 4 was okay. I liked the scenes in the restaurant where they said they believe the dad.

The ending :
- I liked that the dad became the coach for the kids baseball team. Suitable ending for him
- just like Tae PYeong ending, doing what he likes by teaching taekwondo to kids
- the mom doing her thing and the daughter too. They spend a lot of screen time with the jobs of everyone, but it’s okay. Maybe we could have gotten more romance for both couples
- the son : he matured and looking for a job
- the parents ending: I actually liked it and I think it fits. Her wanting to leave alone for now, I think that’s good. They are still dating and they still live in the same building, so not a problem to see each other often. Maybe later on they will live together again after some time
- the younger couple : it was okay. I found it weird Mi Rae thinking though. She wants to date for the rest of her life ? Doesn’t it also mean for her to keep living alone in the future ?
- the last scene, a meal with the family and everyone being happy and the little bickering, I think it wasn’t bad. I was thinking her boyfriend could have been there. The picture with all of them at end :)

Other comments:
- loved the dog ahah he was a paid actor and so cute
- I think the couple with the hairdresser and the tax accountant was cute
- the neighbors were mostly annoying
- the reveal for the secret behind the money was a bit disappointing, maybe I was expecting a big twist after all the mystery. Like the mystery with what happened to the landlord too
- I’ve seen comments, I don’t think the acting horrible
- I like that it was only 12 eps, I think the flow of the drama was good.

worth watching

didn't even noticed it came out today ahah saw the date here, random watch on Netflix tonight

I wasn't expecting much, but I enjoyed this movie. I read the synopsis and I thought it could be interesting
- I think the idea of the plot in general is interesting.
- the acting was good
- had some funny moments
- For me a bit slow at first and I was waiting for her to find out
- I enjoyed the action and fighting scenes
- I like the part when they rescued the guy. I was like how the hell will they out, but the plan was pretty perfect after all. I'm still sad he died. When he said his wife disappeared after ML stopped working... I was like well damn! but later on it all made sense why it seemed to easy to get him out
- I was truly shocked with the plot twist for the villain, didn't saw it coming
- the ending was okay

It's a good watch to pass time in my opinion, I would recommand

amazing acting and a good action movie

the acting was amazing from the ML to the child. The child actress surprised me. I love the action and fighting sequences. Be aware, a lot of blood. Man was bad ass.

It’s a lot of blood and fights, but also a lot of emotional scenes.
- Like before she was kidnapped, when she was talking the him in the alley, about her mom and other things. My eyes got teary.
- Also, when we saw the accident of his wife death, that was so heartbreaking. It was horrible when we saw the blood running out the car…. Also,
- when the doctor said her mom was dead, the villain face said everything. His eyes were expressive, I just knew he wouldn’t let the doctor cut her eyes out. ML face was also heartbreaking when he thought she was dead.
- their reunion ❤️😭😭
- the ending scene, I was cry so bad.

I absolutely love the bond between him and the child

The mom’s death and the poor kids, that was hard to watch too.

Overall I think it’s a great movie. Good acting, fighting scenes and still really emotional

I recommend this movie

Decent drama, not the best for me. Overrated

This drama was good in general and I like the gaming concept, but truly overrated. I started after many positive reviews and people saying this drama is so good and one of the best

But for me, this was slow. It took them 11 eps to actually have their first real meet face to face and after that they both acted like they didn’t know each other real identities for a few more eps. Then, the confession was in ep 20. I’m not a fan of slow burn, so for me it was to slow for my liking. I was tired of this and wanted them to finally talked, but I got a bit bored after they become a couple. I actually fast forward a lot for the last few eps, I just wanted to finish.

The second lead was bearable too, he looked a bit like a stalker always looking at them from afar, but he was mature and understanding. He looked to old for my liking, FL is in her 20s I think and he looked in is 40-50s. After his confession to FL, when she told him that she was in love with someone else, he was understanding, backed off and was happy for her, he wanted her to be happy. He wasn’t the annoying SL type who didn’t give up and still tried to pursue her when she made it clear. That the good kind of SL and one I can tolerate to watch.

I love that they both have supportive families and parents, they weren’t against their relationship at all and were good people. The first meets were funny too.

There is some annoying character sometimes, like the roommates or the assistant or Taro, Ma,…

Also, the second and third couple didn’t catch my attention, I didn’t really care about them and fast forward sometimes. I also wasn’t really touch or neither cared about Mrs. Ma story. But it was good that she got better and that her friends and Taro helped her overcome her problems. They become a couple at the end too, so again, slow burn…

To finish, the pairing for the leads wasn’t the best for me. Yes I saw their chemistry and they were a cute couple, but I didn’t like them this much together. But, I can say that their kissing scenes were really good and passionate. To be honest, in my opinion ML wasn’t really attractive or handsome. It was the first drama I saw of this actor, but not for FL. I actually like FL better with her costars in « Sunshine of my life » or « Hello I’m at your service » for exemples. I think the chemistry was better and they looked more good together. Maybe I’m biased, but I absolutely love her with the ML in « Sunshine of my life », that was her best pairing for me from the dramas I saw of her.

So, since I didn’t really enjoyed the secondary couples, a bit slow and long, boring at time and the main couple wasn’t my favorite to watch, I can’t give this drama a 10/10. But, still an enjoyable drama and easy watch with a sweet couple, friendship and funny moments. So, I would recommend, this would probably be to many people taste

Disappointing

Damn I’m so disappointed and what a waste of time. I really like it at first, but in the end it became bad. The story line of their past life was boring to me and it was many episodes.

Also the plot turn so bad and annoying. I skipped scenes and watch through TikTok towards the end.

The ending was horrible, open ending that I still don’t understand to this day. Why can’t the writers this year give us a clear happy ending or not a 1 min annoying happy ending. No happy ending for all the couple, disappointing too. Also, we were in the middle of the last episode and they were still fighting.

Also, why was the second lead in love with the female lead and he couldn’t just love her as a brother, annoying. We could have had a better storyline, romance for him and the cousin before he died.

The best part for me was the beginning before she left with the « brother » and they showed their last life.

I don’t recommend this drama.

One of my favorite cdrama

I just love this drama. The chemistry was amazing and the love story between the lead was beautiful to me. They got together a bit late but we still got sweet moments before that. I like the second couple too, they were cute. Both couples had healthy and mature relationships. I love that there was no breakups for the couples and for once I found the second leads not to much annoying. I had a feeling from the beginning that they would end up together 😉 I actually cried when she proposed to him🩷

This drama was pretty good, one of my first Chinese drama. I love both the leads and that have good chemistry. The relationship between the leads was amazing. No misunderstanding, trusting each other and working together + healthy relationship. The story was also great and kept me interested. I also think the fight scenes were not bad. I would have like to see more of the second couple.

Yes it’s was a happy ending and they will live happily together, but I was a bit disappointed that they both « abandoned » their country. Both their families, parents died and they ascended the throne, but they both just left. Maybe it’s just me but I kind of did not like that🤷‍♀️
Also he has only some years left… so it’s a happy ending for the years he has left. Not sure I like that. Feel like I read somewhere that this wasn’t in the novel

light and fun BL

I wasn’t sure at first, but this BL surprised me. I’ve already watched a few bl with offgun, so I know this pairing and their chemistry. Also it was a comedy relief when it was airing at first with the other more depressing BL airing at the same time.

I love the friendships and the relationships. Green flags/supportive boyfriends and healthy relationships. No break up also. I also enjoyed the cooking aspect.

Love grandma and samsee’s parents. Fire and Ten parents had development. Ten’s father could be an ass, but he wasn’t a bad guy. He didn’t mind that his son was gay, he didn’t want him to suffer and him being used and in the end, wanted him to be happy. The step mom was weird and annoying.

Prem’s sister and Samsee being in a relationship was a cute surprise, even if I still ship him with grey hair guy (forget his name for a sec ahah), their bickering and dynamic was hilarious. That would have made an interesting enemies to lovers, but in the end friendship, it’s okay.

I liked the comedy and not many problems or drama. Good kissing scenes from her main couple. I also absolutely love Fire and Dynamite. Their dynamic interested me from the beginning. I liked the development when Fire realized that he liked him. Also a cute relationship.

Happy end perfect ending.

Waiting for the next OffGun drama. Also, get Neo a leading role and his own BL, he deserves it. I’ve seen many BL with him as the side character or the second couple. I really like his acting.

Good chemistry, plot holes, unsatisfying ending

Positives points :
- What I love the most about this drama is the chemistry, dynamic and relationship of the leads. I continued mostly for that.
- I love the comedy and the friendship
- the cinematography is beautiful
- the second couple, they are fun to watch

Negatives points :
- the plot was promising, but in the end not that good for me and boring for some eps or moments. I actually wasn’t that hooked after the first 2 eps. But some thing still surprised me, I actually didn’t see it coming that his grandpa was a bad guy.
- Could stand ML’s brother for most of the drama. For me, he was a creep, weird guy for many eps. His comments or reactions regarding FL and mostly his liking for her made me uncomfortable and that was weird.
- the plot holes, feel like things weren’t explained or didn’t make sense
- how the time travel plot is written
- the ending is surely the part that made my rating go down a little. Didn’t like it. Waste of time, why made her stay in the past for the entire ep. It was just sad moments and uninteresting for me since she didn’t want to have a relationship with past him, she loves present ML. I found it weird people wanting her to stay in the past, have a relationship with past him. I just wanted more moments and a good ending in the present. She could have gone back sooner, like 20-30 min before than end so we can have a good and satisfying ending. We also didn’t see her reuniting with her best friend. But no, they went with the 1-2 min reunion. I’ve seen that annoying ending enough in Cdramas. First time I see an ending like this for a kdrama, expect my Dearest ending maybe. For me an ending like this seems like just wanting to dump a « HE » for the viewers. Also, the whole thing with the 2 Tae Ha and the kinda love triangle was weird. Plus, I agree with some comments that they could have made her appear in the pool and recreate the first ep.
Yeah, they added like 2 more minutes at the very end with the wedding. Cute, but still not satisfying. I would have like better to see more of them living happily for like 20 min or with kids or what happens with her career than seeing a wedding again.

Overall for the romance, it’s a good watch, so I would recommend even if I didn’t like it that much. I was expecting something better before starting.

Could have been even better if

So personally, this could have been even better for mainly 2 reasons, I’ll develop below.

1) Thoughts for eps 1-13 :

Let’s start with some like :
- I find both leads likeable characters.
- Good chemistry between the leads. I enjoy and always wait for their interactions. I have some good scenes in mind, like :
* When he saved her in woods, after her talking to him when he was in the bathroom (thinking it was her girl friend)
* When she was in his house, looking at pictures and all with his parents, that was pretty fun
* when her brother was drunk and they went home together. FL falling, him catching (a cliché, but we still love it), etc..
* In the lab, the scene on the chair
* In ep 13, her drunk. They were cute, piggyback ridding her, the little kiss
- FL is cute, beautiful and ML is handsome, he looks manly. He looked very good in that blue suit (dont remember the episode). He is kind, supportive and has good qualities. Husband material. They are a good match and even the actors fit together
- I appreciate how they showed us early on that ML also « timed travel » and he remembers. In some drama with similar plot that I saw before, we only know FL did and at the end she randomly meet ML again and we are supposed to believe it’s « him ». Makes more sense like this in here.
- also interesting that ML found out in ep 13 that FL went back. But, her saying that if he was the one from the future, she would never never like him, I feel incoming problems
- this has some fun moments and some good friendship moment. I like Gao Rui and FL’s friend who cook.
- It was good seeing FL change her fate, motivation, studying hard and finally getting into the university of her choice,
- As of now, FL is not going in the way of forgiven and staying friend with that snake ex friend
- FL’s family

So now, what is going wrong in this drama that make it loose some point for me :
A) FL’s ex best friend and brother : If you add some side couples, I will include them in my rating. totally unlikable and uninteresting story. Like who wants to see a the romance for that bitch and sometimes they have a lot of screentime. We have seen how she is and what she did in future and all, totally a fake friend who stabs you in the back. Now she has a sad story with the mom and they will maybe try to redeem her. Don’t know what they are trying to do with her character, but I feel 0 sympathy for her. We know the brother is dump and have low EQ, but seeing him go again and again after her is just side eyes. Even more after she tried to hurt his sister and bro doesn’t care, he still wants her. Like come on. Having such a bad second couple is unfortunate. No idea if this is in the book, but another couple instead of those two or even putting more in the spotlight the potential ML’s friend and his cousin would have been better. These 2 are lovely characters and just little crumbs so far, would have been such a better second couple, they deserve more screentime.
B) Lurking SML : bro is not taking the hint. He is still chasing FL and sometimes interrupts the moments between the leads. His presence give nothing to me but annoyance. If I was FL, I wouldn’t spend a second with him after going back in the past. I know he is the one going to see her and all, but she still spend time with him (like in the cafeteria for exemple or her birthday : ML getting her a cake and SML randomly came interrupt their moment and he just stayed with them ???). Let’s see how it goes, I just hope it’s not gonna be like this till the end. Give him another love interest or make FL already proper reject him or something. That was my rant, sorry ahaha it’s just these SML with one-side who can’t take the hint or still continue after being told no, just touch a nerves on me for some reason😅😅😅😅 and if for this character, it feels like his hole personality is going after the FL, what an uninspiring and boring character, let’s see what they do with him later

So, I would probably rate it for now 8-8,5/10

To Be continued…

2) Second half 14-24 + ending :

ep 15 : officialy together. 2 years time jump
