I know the particular scene you're talking about...she had her hand on his face and he looks at her with no emotions whatsoever. His expression was more like "are you ok? why so emotional" 😂 Geez. I hope he can work on his craft a little more when he's not shooting. I heard he has a no kissing clause on his contract. Not sure how true this is. Maybe this is one of the reasons why he's such a cold fish when it comes to a love scene 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep. I said the same things about RJL in my review. LQ was able to interpret her role well when it comes to their romance. RJL was so stiff the chemistry was non existent. His monotone voice was the most annoying. He looks good in Republican Era outfits. This is the only positive he had going for this show. Lol.

Agreed that he doesn't give off much passion in all his roles, especially here when I feel Li Qin portray her role well and there was no reciprocity from him. I was not convinced he was in love with Dengdeng for one second. Lol. In Forever and Ever, his monotone voice and stiffness were passable because his character was nerdy, cerebral and not very sociable. But yeah, he needs to step up and show some emotions.

I know we're suppose to suspend our disbelief as an audience but I still like to know how something happened or came to be. Lol. I found it interesting that Lu Yan's body did not dissipate like other immortals when he died. It is plausible that A'Xin took him away and sacrificed his life for his master and that maybe Lu Yan still has his memories but didn't go back to Dengdeng because he needed time to recover. The happy looks on his face could mean he's ready to start his new life as a commoner. Who knows. Open interpretation, right? Thanks for your previous input!

Just finished watching it today. For me it was just "meh". RJL is so stiff in this and his monotone voice sounds like he's reading lines straight from the script. I'm not hating on him. I actually like him. My favorite characters are Dahai and Dengdeng's second dad (Uncle). Another drama with open ending. I just couldn't wait for it to end.

Right. 36 episodes is just too long for this drama. I couldn't wait for it to end. lol

I agree that the new Lu Yan seems happy and free but it's only been a year so he couldn't possibly reincarnated?

I agree with you on RJL's acting, especially in this role. Also, I don't know if that was his real voice or not but he sounded so monotone.

Their chemistry was 🔥🔥🔥 It's obvious they were into each other and the kisses were (real) hot. Bai Lu is always beautiful, of course.

The very last episode when Sasa was reading his script. The funeral scene with Xin'er, Shijie and his mother. It didn't make sense to me that it would be Uncle Yu because they already had funeral service for him prior to the festival 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jing Chao is a very good actor. The first time I saw him and his work was in Princess Silver. He was great there. His role was a bit similar to this role, the unwanted/jilted prince who had to rebel for the throne.
