The thing I liked the most about the first season was that we finally got to see KimmonCopter play characters with the roles reversed. Ray (Copter) was the one obsessed with and head over heels for Jedi (Kimmon) and he openly expressed that. While Kimmon let it happen and reciprocated naturally. I actually watched their episode more than once. However, in this season, somewhere around episode 4, they kind of mysteriously turn back into Mark and Kit and I don't understand why. Kimmon goes back to being the puppy dog chasing Copter and Copter goes back to being the fussy hard to get boy again. What happened?!?
Watching OhmFluke made me feel like either Until We Meet Again wasn't as good as I thought it was or something was off about them in this series...particularly for Fluke. I don't expect too much from Ohm. He doesn't emote much in one way or another, but I'm used to that.
Overall, I enjoyed that the show really focused on the couples and even though there was an "evil girl", she doesn't get too much screen time, nor does she actually do any substantial damage.
2gether did all that during the middle of a pandemic and with arguably one of the most, if not, *the most* handsome guy to ever play a lead in a BL (Bright). With not much else to do because of the pandemic, high production quality, and a really, really pretty face, it really isn't a wonder 2gether did well, but the show itself....meh. It was mediocre, unnecessarily complicated toward the end and the chemistry lacked. I'd compare it to Bad Buddy. That show was also pretty mediocre, but the story was delivered in a straight way and the chemistry between the actors was off the charts.
It's been 2yrs but i still remember how hyped up I was during the whole "2gether" phase. I was there right here…
I'm glad to see that someone who actually was about the hype actually also realizes how well the lockdown truly favored this BL. Not only that, but the season. This came out in the spring of the same year as Cherry Magic *and* I Told Sunset About You which both came out in October and both did extremely well respectively. If 2gether had released around the time these series were out, I don't think it would have done as well in terms of hype.
I can't say that this was horrible, but it wasn't that great. A lot more time is spent on the roommates in the boarding house than I think was necessary for this truly to have been about the MC and their relationship and that takes a toll considering how short each episode is. Maybe skip this one for now if you have other BLs on your list and come back when you're in a dry spell.
was a shame itsay was my first BL cuz it set the standards so high, all other BLs feels abit meh when i watch…
Well, in addition to the insanely great production quality, cinematography, and acting, I think it might also be because ITSAY is BL in that a it's a gay love story, but it's not "BL"-BL in the sense that there's a element of fantasy or heavily romanticized surrealism that goes with it, you know? The entire series 100% plausible and deals with regular, middle-class people. Nothing about this show really steps away from what life is like for an average gay teenager and that's very endearing.
