Yeah. Reminds me of the third wheel in Oh! Boarding House. Every time he's on the screen, it's just like "Why are you here?"

I can't say that this was horrible, but it wasn't that great. A lot more time is spent on the roommates in the boarding house than I think was necessary for this truly to have been about the MC and their relationship and that takes a toll considering how short each episode is. Maybe skip this one for now if you have other BLs on your list and come back when you're in a dry spell.

The first season got problematic, but this one really was toxic in some ways.

Well, in addition to the insanely great production quality, cinematography, and acting, I think it might also be because ITSAY is BL in that a it's a gay love story, but it's not "BL"-BL in the sense that there's a element of fantasy or heavily romanticized surrealism that goes with it, you know? The entire series 100% plausible and deals with regular, middle-class people. Nothing about this show really steps away from what life is like for an average gay teenager and that's very endearing.

It suffered to the point of anguish on my part as a watcher. I mean, shows like The Cupid Coach and Love Area were categorically worse than this in almost every other aspect, but even they managed to halfway pull a story together with characters who make sense.

I like Barcode so far, but I've seen a LOT of Jeff and Gameplay, so ngl I probably would have loved that as well.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but (I think) I remember, a loooong time ago that there was another actor that was cast as Porchay, but then they later announced that he wouldn't be doing it? Who was that? Was it Gameplay or am I very mistaken?

Squandered potential. While the cute, romantic stuff was nice, it couldn't make up for how disjointed the story feels. Every time the characters make a decision, it makes you ask: why? So many problems could have been avoided/solved in such simple ways, but the characters almost purposely take the hard way. It's cute, but don't expect too much.
