Title In Family We Trust Spoiler
Well, I don't think they had the intention to serve justice to everyone. If they wanted to do that, they would…
Yes, I agree with you the drama did not intend to serve justice to all the characters, and the unfairness was on purpose and always part of the script. And for me, I found this very unsatisfying for various reasons, as I stated in my post.

You make an interesting point about the forgiveness and if things will perhaps explode in the future. I think that things are definitely forgiven for Cris and Patsorn, and the decision was made to put everything behind them and move on. I can see things exploding between Mei Mei/Toey/Vegas later on though. You could see Toey was uneasy in the last episode.

@NHelena- If you are looking for another drama to sub I vote for Prince Coffee Lab, the Chinese remake of K Drama Coffee Prince. It looks really cute and it got good reviews. But of course, it's your decision. Let us know what you decide on-lots of interesting dramas out there right now.

I was going to make a similar comment. I think with the huge success of The Walking Dead, zombies was a genre…
Yeah, zombies do seem to be embraced by South Korea lately with several successful films. It will be interesting to see how well zombie K-Drama "Kingdom " does when it comes to Netflix at the end of January.

I've always said that Anne Rice has a lot to answer for with a healthy dash of blame to Charlaine Harris as well.…
Agree for Moonlight. Also would recommend Canadian series Forever Knight and
Blood Ties. Blood Ties was based on the books by Tanya Huff, and I loved the books too.

I'll agree with you that the lack of vampire stories in media from Asian countries lies with a cultural context, which only makes sense. People in general are more interested and comfortable in exploring their own folklore traditions so it's only natural that we would see more tv shows and films that explore supernatural creatures/beings/tales which are familiar and easily recognizable to the particular audience. So for Asian countries this is going to mean creatures like the nine tailed fox rather than vampires. It cuts both ways-I mean, how many Europen films or TV shows are there about the Gumiho? However, as you say, this does not mean that supernatural phenomena from other parts of the world cannot be explored by Asian filmmakers (or anyone really). It may be more difficult because it is unfamiliar. Coming up with a good script, acting, directing, production values, effects just relies on talent and teamwork as you point out. I thought the South Korean film "Thirst" (2009) was a well done film featuring vampires.

Title In Family We Trust Spoiler
Although I enjoyed this drama, several things really grated on me here. First, I really could not understand the attitude of Cris in the beginning episodes. She and Prasert had been divorced for years, so he was not cheating on her with Nipha. Her acting like a wronged wife did not make sense, especially since she kept saying that the love she had for her ex-husband was long gone. I also didn't understand why this couple had to live together for over 20 years since the original plan was to exile her from the family. I get that baby Pete was attached to his mother, but I think once he was an older child I don't see why the 2 parents could not have lived separately and Prasert been able to marry Nipha.

My other problem with this drama was I felt justice was not served for many of the characters, and they were forgiven way too easily. The only character who was truly punished was the one who you could possibly say committed justifiable homicide and suffered the most. Everyone else received a free pass in my opinion. They certainly didn't suffer enough compared to what they did/did not do and the suffering they put others through. Yes, I'm taking about Patsorn and Cris. And to a lesser extent, Meimei and Vegas. I would have preferred to see all of the characters face some consequences for their actions. But this theme of "all is forgiven" no matter how heinous the crimes is unfortunately pretty standard theme for Thai dramas and a lot of other Asian dramas as well. It made for a somewhat unsatisfying ending for me in this drama.

Watched this drama with subs on Netflix under the title "In Family We Trust". Overall, I enjoyed the drama. Compared to other lakorns I have seen, this drama was more realistic and understated, which I appreciated. The plot was interesting, and the mystery as well. The drama did a nice job of integrating the themes of gender, patriarchy, favoritism and their effect on family into the overall story and tying it into the mystery as well. Production values were solid. Acting by the entire cast was satisfactory overall, with some actors doing better than others in their roles, but I appreciated that everyone was embracing a more naturalistic style here and we didn't see too much of the over the top, exaggerated acting that is seen in most Thai dramas. It was there but kept to a minimum. Overall, I found the writing pretty good, but some parts were uneven for me as some plot points did not make sense to me and I had a few issues with the resolution of the story. If you like family dramas and a bit of mystery in your plots, this is a drama worth watching.
