There’s so many short dramas out there and most of the time I’m just relying on random YT algorithm, so really…
A couple of others that have more of the tropes (vibe not similar to The Best Thing) that I think are pretty good are the "Prince of Beijing" and "Prince Too Wild" stories (both feature possessive male leads). While both have numerous versions, my favorite versions are with Zeng Hui as he has great chemistry with his FLs. In Prince of Beijing he's paired with his real life girlfriend Han Yutong who I have found to be a great comedic actress. He and Han Yutong are paired in several other dramas that are good. https://mydramalist.com/779692-prince-of-beijing-circle
thank you for recommendation, where we can watch these?
The comment section on MyDramaList relating to each of the above dramas includes the links to the compiled dramas on YT - look for Jwells comment, she does a fabulous job of finding links for all of the Vertical dramas. On a positive note, these dramas don't have a lot of comments and her comment is usually near the bottom and marked spoiler. Some of the dramas may have been removed from YT, so you may have to work through the list to find one that still works. They are filmed "vertically" instead of "horizontally" so smaller screen.
These type of dramas are my favorite - no OTT storylines, no angst, no nasty characters, no forced drinking by co-workers, no face slapping, no crazy SFL, etc. Just a sweet romance between the leads.
I recently started watching "vertical" Chinese dramas (short 2-3 hour web dramas) where all of the 2 minute episodes have been compiled and are on YT. A couple of these have a similar vibe to this drama. (As a side note, the ratings for these web novels usually run 1 point lower than regular dramas. As rule of thumb, anything above a 7 is usually good - I have yet to see a rating above 8 - similar to regular dramas where a rating above 9 is extremely rare)
The first is based on novel Gong Ni Lan Qing Kong by Ni Zhe Ban Dong Ren. I have watched 4 different versions of this drama. My favorite is Love Above the Clouds / Gong Ni Lan Qing Kong https://mydramalist.com/785874-gong-ni-lan-qing-kong
Another version of this novel which was good featured the real life married couple Bai Xin Yi & Shu Yi Wei (they have also starred in several other very good dramas together). Their version of this drama is Flash Marriage Cold Captain / Shan Hun Gao Leng Ji Zhang Da Ren https://mydramalist.com/780290-shan-hun-gao-leng-ji-zhang-da-ren
Another drama of a similar nature is based on novel Mei Gui Guan Mian by Jiu Jiu Qi There are at least 2 different version of this drama, with my favorite being Every Step of the Way https://mydramalist.com/786508-every-step-of-the-way
Just started watching the drama and am finding it to be very beautiful. I noticed that the FL indicated twice that the ML looks like the ML of My Journey to You (another Zhang Ling He drama) but didn't see that the directors were the same, so calling out that drama seemed a little strange - did I miss the connection between the 2 productions?
If you're interested, I started a Vertically Filmed Actresses List and a Vertically Filmed Actors List to help…
Thanks for all of your efforts! They are much appreciate.
I did have a question that I hope you can help with. Do you know the name of the male lead in this drama as I wanted to see if he had any other dramas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrwn5G74vPo&t=7291s He reminds me of a youthful Shin Song Ruk and Ryan Ren. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Way OTT (which actually I don't mind if the leads have addictive chemistry). Unfortunately, this has all the tropes, drugged ONS, attempted rape, evil family, etc., but lacks the chemistry.
Recently watched the Bai Feng Wen (Jiao Pei Kai) Vertical drama version of this drama. Of the numerous different versions of the drama that I've seen, the Bai Fang Wen version had the most changes to the timeline and storyline than any other version.
This is another version of the "Ex-Wife Strategy"/Penny/Love on the Edge of Divorce storyline. However, this version had made substantial changes to both the timeline and the storyline. Not my favorite version of this drama, but I did enjoy it.
In this version the leads have been unhappily married for 3 years with the ML rarely returning home. ML thinks FL is a money-grubber who tricked him into marriage. On their 3rd wedding anniversary FL requests a divorce. So in a major twist from the other versions of this drama, the ML knows the FL is his wife, but he doesn't know that her other identity is "Penny" the designer. ML spends a lot of time and effort trying to get in touch with "Penny" to design a necklace. ML doesn't find out FL is "Penny" until near the end of the drama.
Fun drama (leads have a ton of chemistry), but I'm not a fan of female leads that spend an entire drama lying to the ML regarding the fact they have other children together and plotting to steal the one child that the ML does have custody of.
Drama has a very somber tone. ML appears to be on the spectrum. I dislike FL's that hide the ML's child from him. The ML has every right to know and be involved with his child. Very selfish and despicable of the FL.

I recently discovered vertical dramas. First time I heard of them was when someone mentioned them in the comment section for Love in the Edge of Divorce and that about 15 different vertical versions of that drama existed. Since then have been looking for other enjoyable ones to watch.
I greatly appreciate you finding links to the various vertical dramas. Thanks!
Very sweet romance that was enjoyable to watch. The leads were very likable and both were highly competent in their careers. Really enjoyed the lack of villains (drama didn't have any negative characters) and the lack of any OTT storylines.

Prince Too Wild also has numerous versions but I enjoyed this one best

I also enjoyed the various vertical versions of "Penny/Ex-Wife Strategy" but probably liked the longer web version with Ryan Ren the best.

I have found several dramas with the husband/wife team of Bai Xin Yi & Shu Yi Wei to be good.

I also like that their twins were normal children, not super genius like in all of the Vertical dramas that I watched where the couple had children...
