Just finished this and this has to be one of the best dramas I've ever seen. And it maintained the humor and clever writing all the way through, which is unfortunately rare for cdramas!!
Dropped on episode 10, when Chu Zhao is now leading entire military strategy sessions while two hardened generals take their lead from her. 🤣 But I really enjoyed the last 9 episodes! And Tang Xiao Tian is always a delight to watch
I think that is what makes this case different. It goes back 18 years ago, showing how hard it is to solve cold…
that's great that you can. But I think it's implausible, and I think it's bad writing to hinge the climax of the final arc on something that requires such a leap of logic.
I also don't see the relevance of police being trained to notice mundane things. This case requires ordinary people (not police) to have extraordinary memory, which to me stretches reality too much. human memories are notoriously bad even in just a few weeks, so it's quite silly that every single person remembered exactly what they needed to remember 13 years later.
This is rather standard in investigations. Physical evidence is often hard to find without the context that witnesses…
I appreciate your comment. I still think it's quite ridiculous to ask people to remember a conversation from so long ago in such specific detail that it provides critical clues to push the story forward. If we're in 2026, 99% of people can't remember all the tiny details from conversations they had in 2013, for example. It stretches my limits of realism to the point of absurdity, but if it works for you then it works and I'm glad you're enjoying it 😊

except in this case people's memories are all spot on 13 years later. the writer wrote themselves into a hole and then needed to break the realism to fix it. for me that equals bad writing, but YMMV
In my opinion, this might not be the show for you. It's 28 episodes mostly revolving around one case: it has to…
the case itself is really interesting. a mysterious murder where both bodies just disappeared and everyone is suspicious as hell. it keeps you guessing throughout, which is fun. everything around the case is frustrating though. in order to make it last 28 episodes, the writer has to make the detectives really dumb sometimes so that they don't get important clues until much later, even if one of them is always described as a genius. and then other times the writer needs the story to move forward so then suddenly problems just get miraculously fixed lol. that lack of consistency is a big problem, but if you just stay focused on the mystery aspect then you can still enjoy yourself

I've watched up to episode 20 and my opinion is it's good, but the writer isn't as smart as they want us to believe they are.
The show is really trying hard to create this complex, dramatic mystery. But they don't have the skills to do it properly, so they have to break reality here and there and have silly things happen to move the story forward. You need to shut off your brain and not think about it too much, otherwise it all starts to fall apart.
Is it entertaining? Hell yes. But is it a serious crime mystery? That's a no for me. The problem is though that they really, really want us to be convinced that it's some super smart, complex drama - you can look at the interviews and statements they've been giving. So I'm holding them up to the standard they've set for themselves, and it's a fail. But if you don't expect it to be anything special and just accept it as an ordinary show, then it's a fun watch (at least so far.)
so the climax of the case depends on multiple people recalling specific details from conversations a whole 13 years ago? LOL. Talk about jumping the shark...
I really doubt she’s the killer, despite all the theories people are making online. But there’s no doubt that…
yeah, I feel like there's been some subtle manipulation from right when she was introduced to make us think she's good and innocent, and I'm pretty sure they're going to subvert that expectation in this last stretch of episodes
Tbh this isn't as good as people are hyping it to be here. After reading the comments i think most people are…
yep! it's good but certainly not great, especially in episode 17 and 18 which were so illogical that I'm starting to suspect the writing will become laughable in the last 10 episodes. I hope I'm wrong though.
When does it start picking the pace? I watched 5 episodes but need a strong reason to continue.
In my opinion, this might not be the show for you. It's 28 episodes mostly revolving around one case: it has to move slowly to fill the episode count. If you're looking for a tighter story with more palpable tension, this isn't it unfortunately.
This drama is kinda weird for me...😪 They all saying the most hurtful past yet non of them feel sad, they just…
I had the same feeling watching RJL talk about how his mother left him in the fire. Like, okay??? Where is the grief or the sadness or anything in the past 22 episodes? It's like the writers give the characters tragic backstories to flesh them out, but then don't follow through in actually creating multi-faceted characters. LQQ and Ah Sheng are both very one note despite having such complex backgrounds.
here fl's character is a paper tiger....she is righteous but lacks actual power... always needs others help...she…
FL is very powerful, she stood up to all those cultivators already. and it's explained that she's at a low level because of her attachment to the mortal world, but she still has all the techniques from when she was in the higher levels
