Sorry, I phrased that incorrectly. Li Chu was a descendant of Li Shimin. What I meant is that Ren Jialun already has experience playing emperors/heirs of the Tang dynasty.

I’ve heard something similar too. But for now, both Ren Jialun’s team and he himself are staying silent, so I’m treating all this information very critically. If it does turn out to be true, it will be really interesting, especially since Ren Jialun has already played a descendant of Li Shimin. I would gladly watch such a project.
After *Fate Chooses You*, we’re expecting his modern detective drama *Abyss*, which is also produced by a strong…
Yes, in China people don’t really pay attention to that. There are other actors for kissing and “hot” scenes. Ren Jialun is loved именно for his acting skills. That’s why he wasn’t blamed for the failure of *Love and Crown*—everyone knew what was happening during the filming of that drama and what sacrifices he made to leave his agency. He’s also adored for the kind of person he is.
Even without promotion, FChY already has almost 2.5 million reservations on iQIYI and over 1.6 million on Tencent. And Tencent only bought the drama about a month ago.
I really hope for a good storyline (I even read the novel) and great special effects. And of course, I want a happy ending))

I also really love historical dramas and dream that Ren Jialun will star in more of them. But I think he’s tired of the accusations about the lack of kisses, hot scenes, and happy endings, so he wants to distance himself from projects like that. I’ll probably cry while watching FCY, because it might be his last drama in this genre.

I don’t think it’s worth expecting romantic dramas from Jialun anymore. He’s already tired of them. I think he’s aiming for more serious projects. But I could be wrong. Aside from Love and Crown, his dramas last year were very successful. Both TDHR and Silent Tides have already been broadcast multiple times on China’s central TV channels in 2026. As for endings, in China there isn’t the same fixation on happy endings as in the English-speaking world.
I want Allen ren to do more serious dramas after this but I really hope after this atleast he takes one modern…
After *Fate Chooses You*, we’re expecting his modern detective drama *Abyss*, which is also produced by a strong team. The original novel has been published and holds a 7.6 rating on Douban, along with many positive reviews. Unfortunately, in the English-speaking sphere, this genre isn’t as popular as xianxia or pseudo-historical dramas.
As for historical works, this is one of the biggest concerns among Jialun’s fans—that he might stop taking on this genre altogether. However, during a New Year livestream, Dage reassured fans that if there’s a good script, he wouldn’t mind doing a historical project. In the same stream, he also mentioned that a script he liked is currently being refined, though he didn’t reveal any details.
I agree wholeheartedly. One and only is one of my favorite dramas because of how deep their love for each other…
I also really love the drama *One and Only*, and I absolutely adore TDHR—that’s why I’m expecting a great story here too. I’m very happy that I’ll finally see Jialun in xianxia again, but I also feel a bit sad because this might be his last drama in this genre. Although he did promise that if there’s a good script, he would gladly take on a historical or fantasy series again.
It’s been a year now that people who are waiting for this series keep writing everywhere that we’re going to get a happy ending. And yet there are still those who keep repeating the same thing — that Ren Jialun always dies in his dramas, never kisses, etc., so it’s not even worth starting.
I’m curious about one thing: if everything about this series is supposedly so bad, why do these people come here at all? Once again, there’s no rule anywhere in the world that actors are obliged to kiss just because the script includes a romantic element. I also don’t understand these “escape from reality” viewers who only want sweet endings.
People, there’s plenty of content out there that gives you exactly what you want. But there is also a huge audience that cares not about happy endings or kisses, but about a good story—no matter how it ends. Let us enjoy what we like without your complaints and whining.
Came here to see any progress with the airing date but didn’t expect snarky comments already taking up space…
Don’t pay attention to those comments. Those people either have nothing to do or are acting on someone’s orders. The drama is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2026, with predictions pointing to late April.
he turned to demon in ep 39 coz he killed first ancient demon , qiong qi and gain much power when he killed another…
Thanks. So will he stay alive and conscious, without dying or sacrificing himself, etc.? After last year’s The Blossoming Love, I really don’t want to watch another ending like that again.
Please tell me how the Bing Zhu arc ends. I paused watching at episode 7 because of the holidays, and now I don’t know whether I should continue. The latest video with Bing Zhu doesn’t look encouraging.
Everyone, those who know the plot — I have a somewhat strange question, considering the story. They say the male lead wasn’t exactly a saint when it comes to women, unlike how he appears so far. According to the script, will He Xiang also have several wives, or will Jialun stay true to himself and once again play a man devoted to only one woman?
Love & Crown is the drama that RJL forced to film by H&R before his contract ends last year. He has been…
Thank you for the explanation. I know the reasons why Jialun took part in this project, but I still feel very sorry for the time and effort he spent filming it. People are once again calling him an actor who always dies in his dramas, and because of that he keeps getting criticized. And I’m not even mentioning those kisses.
Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of modern dramas or those with political themes. I prefer fantasy and historical genres much more. I really hope that in Fate Chooses You his character will get a proper happy ending. I also hope that Ren Jialun won’t reject historical scripts in the future — he is incredibly natural in the roles of generals and emperors.
I’m very disappointed with the ending. It was the hope that the main characters would get at least a drop of happiness in the end that kept me watching. I don’t want to criticize the plot — it’s no worse than the plots of other recent popular dramas. But the execution, editing, and the illogical resolution of many arcs make me throw up my hands in despair.
I have zero complaints about any of the actors. They gave everything they had, especially Ren Jialun. But why were the platform and the production team so cruel to them? That’s what I don’t understand. Even without a happy ending, there should have been logic and a consistent chain of events — something the viewer can clearly follow instead of having to guess what happened and why.
Now I understand why Jialun stayed silent about the drama. I wouldn’t want to promote something like this either. It’s sad that all the negativity will fall on the actors. They’ll get stuck with the label of always playing tragic roles.
I don’t even know how to watch Fate Chooses You now. I don’t think I can endure another torment like this for an actor I love.
