I wasn't expecting much, but it was still very interesting. Despite leaving many loose ends, the script itself is fairly competent in developing the new incarnation of Jinga. That ending probably won't ever be followed up, and we won't get many future explanations either... but it was still enjoyable to watch this spin-off. Inoue Masahiro, as always, knows how to deliver solid performances as Jinga (I'm even starting to like/get used to his overacting). The effects are okay, nothing too spectacular in terms of tokusatsu. I would recommend it only to fans of the character Jinga or Garo enthusiasts.

Well, that was... something. Aside from the final fight scene (the most entertaining part of this special), the rest felt simplistic and rushed. The acting is atrocious. I think that's the problem with casting pro wrestlers as lead actors. However, the actors who make up the story are equally bad. Nothing makes much sense, and the background effects are lazy rather than artistic. Watch it only if you're a die-hard GARO fan.

So we have GARO KAMI NO KIBA. It's an overall fun movie. As always, the fight choreography is very well done (typical GARO standard). However, the effects seem inferior to those of Goldstorm, which is 2 years older! I'm not sure what happened, maybe some issue with the film's budget, production problems... they're not as polished in some scenes. Of course, it's always good to remember that we're talking about tokusatsu, it's not supposed to be Hollywood-level CGI, but it's good to be at least decent. The direction of the film was okay; Amemiya Keita didn't quite put as much effort into his creation this time. Overall, it's a movie made for fans and lovers of the villain Jinga (lol). It's a cool film.

Garo - Goldstorm is the latest series in the Garo franchise following the movie of the same name. It's a very good series with a narrative that, in its first arc, can be a bit drawn-out, but then blossoms into a good story with a strong villain (where the actor's overacting actually works in his favor) and very good special effects. The direction is also solid. The main armor that blends with the shadows has a very appealing aesthetic. It's one of the most beautiful armors in Garo. Nothing in this drama is outstanding; it's just good enough. Overall, a good addition to the Garo series.

This is how GARO should be directed and written.

A very enjoyable movie to watch. Keita Amemiya was born to direct GARO (after all, he's its creator). The fluidity of the combat and the effects are exactly as GARO should be. The screenplay is infinitely better than 'The One Who Shines In The Darkness' that precedes this story. It's not even fair to make a comparison. The idea that eliminating the 'Horrors' while considering the evil they cause would also mean eliminating the greatest source of evil in the human world: humanity itself, is very well explored. It demonstrates this delicate line that the Makai priests and warriors have to deal with. It's very interesting to see the story unfold. For the first time, it made me care about the characters Ryuga and Rian. An essential film for GARO fans.

Well-Crafted Visuals... Nothing More Than That.

GARO - The One Who Shines In The Darkness has one of the most poorly written stories I've ever come across in the tokusatsu genre. It's very confusing, with characters and situations appearing and unfolding without explicit motivation or character development. The work is riddled with dozens of plot holes and inconsistencies; things that seem one way in the first arc of the story take a completely nonsensical turn later on. The effects are acceptable and even well done (considering it's a 2013 tokusatsu series, of course). The acting is mediocre to poor. The overacting of some actors can be off-putting, but for those already accustomed to tokusatsu, it's nothing out of the ordinary. However, moments of extreme, poorly constructed melodrama on screen can be painful and cringeworthy to watch (such as the appearance and death of Ryuga's mother).
The quality of the choreography, as always, is incredible in GARO series. Nothing is terribly unwatchable, just very confusing. The effects carry this series, and the writers are a constant stumbling block to its narrative quality. I would only recommend it to GARO fans and tokusatsu enthusiasts.

"Oh, I want to get big soon."

You may even criticize me for this, but Ultraman Ginga seemed much less tiresome and more interesting to watch than its successor. The UPG team in Ginga S doesn't come close to how well Hikaru's friends connected with him. Perhaps the low budget of the series helped the production team be creative with their choices of monsters and highlighted settings. With only 11 episodes (excluding the special), it strikes the perfect balance for a story that is already fast-paced enough to keep inventing new elements to keep the audience interested in what's happening.

Overall, it's nothing too impressive, but in my opinion, it's better than its successor.

Seven! Seven! Seven!

I watched it some time ago and decided to write this review now. The master Tsuburaya was still shining with his brilliance when producing this incredible work. Ultraseven is not only a great piece of tokusatsu genre, but also one of the best science fiction productions of its time. I must say that the effects are amazing, in my opinion even better than its successor (Ultraman Jack). The actors also do a good job in embodying the characters. It's very interesting to have an alien who disguises himself as a human instead of possessing a host. Dan is a character of great depth.

What impresses me the most about Ultraseven is the quality of storytelling and the special effects that complement it. Each episode is surrounded by intriguing and captivating mysteries.

Watch it without fear! This work is among the greats of science fiction, and unlike its predecessor, I didn't find it tiresome to watch practically any episode.

The birth of the Giant of Light

I watched it some time ago and decided to write this review now. Ultraman is born from the creativity of a team, and more specifically, one man: Eiji Tsuburaya. Since Ultra Q, the conflict between monsters and humanity has captured the audience's interest. The effects, miniatures, creatures, villains, and motivations of each character... This series encapsulates the essence of tokusatsu imagination, and it has influenced and continues to influence the entire science fiction genre. Despite having a main hero in a common and cliché form, it's worth applauding how experimental and daring the storytelling is in this series. There is no fear in exploring moral dilemmas and human conflicts, all with a good touch of mystery and action.

In short, if you can overcome any prejudice towards older effects and the episodic and slow pace, definitely watch Ultraman!

Not bad

The first season, titled Ultraman Ginga, definitely felt more enjoyable to me than this one. Despite Ginga S having a much higher budget and a more robust production. Victory was overshadowed by Ginga, which was a negative point for my taste. Splitting the protagonists in two always ends up highlighting one more than the other. The main villain was poorly utilized and ultimately discarded in favor of the "real" villain. And, for God's sake, the dancing and singing to cheer up the heroes at the end almost made me die of cringe (that idol sings poorly, to say the least).

However, Ginga S manages to be a good starting point for the Ultras that came after it. It has a fast pace, good fights, and a decent utilization of characters given the limited time available. It's definitely not as bad as I've heard people say.

Decker!

The action in the latest Ultraman series is incredible! And now, with Decker, it's no different. The characters have much greater depth compared to Trigger. Kanata isn't just that perfect hero with the motivation to make everyone smile; he tries to develop his motivation throughout the series while dealing with the dilemmas of humanity and fighting monsters. The effects are simple but captivating and vibrant as always. The direction, camera angles, and miniatures are done with great dedication. The homage to Dyna may go unnoticed, but it's there. I'm excited to see what the new Ultraman series can bring us in the future! I highly recommend Decker to all tokusatsu fans as it's fun to watch!

Pull the trigger!

Once again (just like Z) the production and effects carried the series. The fights are sensational and very well choreographed. The plot is poorly developed and could be better, especially in the first half, but overall it managed to work within its premise. Characters can fill a bit underdeveloped, but they are still well executed. I actually appreciate the fast pacing of the new Ultra series, so the pacing wasn't a issue. The development and speed of events is satisfactory, but in fact some things could be better explained.
Overall : 7.
