I think uncle Qi Mu is too obsessed with the Xiao clan and I could see him betraying Qianfan since Qianfan is conflicted in harming his dad & his half brothers.

Apologies, I didn’t realise there were these indications on the future épisodes. It would be nice for Pan’er to have a baby with Qianfan . Both deserve some happiness given their tragic’s childhood.

Uncle Qi Mu seems to be obsessed with taking down the Xiao’s clan.
Whilst Qianfan is holding some grudges against his dad due to the divorce of his parents, he might be conflicted in harming daddy Xiao & his half brothers. I could see Qi Mu turning on Qianfan.

I saw a while ago that Ouyang Xu came back & tried to implement a law that would forbid any woman in the country to own or run a shop if I am not mistaken.

He is really sweet and love the scene at the bridge where he was teasing Qianfan in front Pan’er.

I assume that we will see more politics games being played out from next week the 3 big factions in the eastern capital.
The first one being the future Prime Minister Xiao Qinyan ( Qianfan’s father), the powerful and corrupted clan from what we gather in ep17-18) and is the enemy of the military minister Qi Mu (Qianfan’s uncle from his mother side). Qi Mu wants his nephew Qianfan’s help to right thing wrong at the imperial court.
I’m sure Qianfan will have some difficulties taking his dad down unless his dad will not use some dirty tricks to harm Pan’er.
The other clan and dangerous one is inspector GAO Hu which we have n seen him breaking his daughter GAO Hui engagement as soon as he has learnt that Ouyang Xu took up a lower position by joining the the Taoist temple in the western region.

Let’s not forget the dangerous ennuch Lei Jing (Qianfan’s boss) who has the trust and protection guarantee from the empress after having served her over 30 years.

In addition, I have no doubt that’s Ouyang Xu will back. He may use GAO Hui to destroy Pan’er & Quianfan love. There was a scene of him tricking pan’er to going to his place and he tried to strangle her.

Any thoughts on the storyline in future episode? I saw a short scene of the ep 24 where Qianfan was with his father and looked very worried a and I am not quite sure what.

My understanding is that his birth father comes from a modest background when he married his mum. His father is a bit like the SML, very ambitious and would do whatever it takes like collusion with bad people, framing people wrongly to get into power. In contrast with Qianfan Gu, his mother maiden family, they are well off, his grandfather has been a high rank official in the eastern capital and so is his uncle (you could see him
In ep12) are honest with integrity and they do not regard his father highly. The main reason that Qianfan is taking his mother’s maiden name is that the Gu doing have a heir, his uncle does not have a son so he is using Gu name after his father left him as a child if I am

Yes. I am loving this drama. It is very refreshing to have our Pan’ee & Quanfan have a normal/mature relationship and not a toxic one that we have just watched from

I love it, such a delicate way to make tea. Her dance is mesmerising, you could see so much love, all her expression in making tea is very liberating for her I think.

That is my assumption between the episode 1 & ep12 when Qianfan met secretly with his uncle, the high ranked military official and give him the evidence that the ennuch Lei Jing ( Qianfan’s boss) colluded with the officials at Jiangnan county where her family resided. His uncle then told him to just lay low for a while before striking. I was wondering whether Qianfan may have found that her father was framed by Lei Jing. He may be able to clear her family’s name?

I saw that on Weibo and loving the scene.

I just love it, the music, their sweet smiles & intense look at each other just make my day 😍.

I think in the ep21 preview, Qianfan has warned his father Xiao Quinyan to not interfere in their relationship and brought Pan’er to his mum’s tomb to introduce her to his future wife. The scene is really sweet, just love it.

So, I’ve kind of re-watched the episodes and realised that in the 1st episode where Pan’er & Qianfan have first met and she purposely dropped the tea cup she was about to offer him when she heard & saw the gold badge of the Capital Security office.

Then, she kind of put the laxatives in their tea afterwards and hehe had to reveal her identity to Qianfan. I was wondering whether her hatred of the Capital Security Office had something with Lei Jing, the eunuch (Qianfan’s boss) being corrupted & colluding with the officials of Jiangnan where Pan’er had her tea house and blamed it on her father. That perhaps explains the reason why she was sent to be a slave/prostitute of officials.

In episode 12 where Qianfan secretly met with his uncle GU , high ranked military officer from his mother side giving him the evidence of Lei Jing’s collusions with the officials of Jiangnan (Pan’er’s father wrongly being framed by Lei Jing?). Perhaps, Qianfan might be able to clear her family’s name and marry her afterwards.? Thoughts?

I can’t wait to see how he reacts when he finds out. I’m sure he will try everything to destroy Pan’er.

My limited understanding of Chinese history is that the Song Dynasty ruled between 960 to 1280. During the period 960-1129, the capital of the Northern Song was the north city of Bianjing ( the drama’s tittle is referring to sometimes) which is called Kaifeng today. After having lost control of some part of the northern part, the Southern Song dynasty established the capital around Hangzou. Part of episode 6 occurred in Huating county which is in the east of the Gansu province. Now, from this episode Pan’er was heading to the capital but then the official at the Huating county that intervened in the court case against Zhou She and helped Pan’er was mentioning that he would write a referral letter to the Zhengzhou’s music academy for Yinzhang. I conclude that the capital was Hangzhou and the drama occurred during the Southern Song Dynasty era. I would welcome any native Chinese fans to correct me if I am wrong.

Agreed, for a smart scholar, he would not even try to dig a bit deeper and understand Pan’er feeling. What he wants is to marry into wealth and status whilst using & playing with Pan’er feelings. There was a scene where he was truing to strangle Pan’er and kill her in future episode I assume.

Every Thursday to Sunday if I am not mistaken with 2 episodes per day.

The dialogue between Pan’er & Qianfan in ep3 is absolutely hilarious when he got exposed by the boat captain for jumping in the water to save Sanniang. He was trying to care for Pan’er as he thought she was pregnant and she just honestly told him that she lied to the captain that the baby was his and just casually mentioned what is wrong with telling a few lies to save him & her friend. He just casually replied back we’ll let him be the father. Their look at each other, gesture & conversation are quite subtile to me.
