In the novel, the concubines were set free. It was not removing them. But the concept of harem was removed. And all of them could do anything they want. They were all re settled as they wanted. They could date start businesses do anything they liked. It was their choice. Again on a serious note, I don't know how much feasible this option was, because historically a removed concubine had nowhere to go, she usually wouldn't be accepted in her matrimonial home, she for sure couldn't marry someone else. But because this was a fun novel, they wanted to showcase how FL had motivated them to not live a dull life wanting attention from one man, but do something fruitful. This was showacased a modern positive thing.
When that slave/criminal in the ending of the episode 24, went on and on about how great the fake deity was, it was so irritating! She made my blood boil! They actually show how superstitions make people stupid, these people actually lost their sanity!
The parallel of him watching his grandmother be murdered just the way his father (Dan) once watched his own grandmother…
This is so true! Also the fact that current empress dowager got the ending just like how she gave the ending to the previous empress dowager. Both the times ML was present, that time traumatized, this time, he was the one doing it! Life comes to a full circle anyhow!

Which emperor? The current one, that is ML? Dan is current emperor's name! Zhang San was a middle school child who transmigrated into the novel and took over the role/character/body of Dan! So Dan and Zhang San are the same person now, they have been the same person since 15 years! Dan has been poisoned since childhood, even recently as well. Though the physician said the poisons are healing, since childhood he has terrible headaches. He looses control, has outbursts! Its like a split personality. I think he was fine with FL but when she is in danger, his split personality gets triggered. Just like we saw when he told to bury secret guards for failing to protect FL, and locking her in her chamber. Like he strangled his son at the end of the episode. He sometimes looses control and he was hiding this from FL. So because he looses control he was tied before so that he doesn't harm himself or others.

Its wrong to say he hated his son! He never has fatherly emotions for him! But even after crown prince trying to poison him and FL, he did not send him to prison or killed him! ML put him in a kind of house arrest! He was still a prince, but he cannot meet others! In the novel no, after his house arrest, they do not mention him ever again! There was no mention of ML and FL having a kid either! This is just from the novel's perspective!
