Actually no. He is really good as a complicated person, with a terrible nature. A proper villain with a sad past. I was very entertained by him in the novel. I absolutely love the actor who plays him in the drama. I love his scenes so! He has such a dark aura around him. But again to each their own.
I just feel for a strong story, with strong protagonists, strong villains are also required, their fights and mind games become the best part. It was well done in the novel, so hopefully in the drama as well.

Qi Min is the legitimate heir of the throne. His father was the crown prince who died with ML's father 16 years back. Qi Min was swapped as a child, hence presumed dead, brought up with another identity. He hates ML's uncle, as he is responsible for his dad's death. He wants the throne, and he can take any steps to achieve what he wishes to.
He is also father of Qian Qian's son, he hates the child, because he was forced to conceive him. He thinks the child can replace him anytime, because people around him are just concerned with royal blood. He is very obsessive towards Qian Qian, and is a complete madman. Though he had a pathetic childhood, as he was burnt in the palace fire, had a scar on his face, hence wore a mask. It took multiple surgeries to get back his normal skin.
He is physically a little weak due to all those surgeries.

No, Qi Min recognizes him, ML doesn't. ML has never seen him before.

After their initial separation, reunion, confession, then! But that's not a marriage anymore, because he hid his identity, the marriage is considered void, so its like consummation in relationship. They do get married again later.

Hence he wanted to kill his son. That is why Qian Qian ran away when she was pregnant, not wanting to associate with him.
Also though he has a terrible childhood, he is a complete madman. Yes very interesting as a character.

He used to wear a mask before. Plus she only spent one night with him, when both of them were drugged, so the memories aren't that clear. She saved him once when he was about to drown, but again he had his mask on. Except these two interactions, they never met.

Qian Qian calling ML Meifu, then making him act as her husband, then reminding him about how his worth is 30 taels, will forever be funny, lol!

Hi, good to see you here. Its doing good, the characters, pacing all seems correct, the visuals and the direction is top notch.
If you are struck with another one now, maybe you can complete that first. I am saying this because, for around 10-11 days, we have only one episode in schedule. Like express will not be before 26th or 27th, hence, maybe you can complete what you are watching, then start this.
Also because this has a lot of characters with backstories for each with subplots, if you haven't read the novel, then you have to watch with good concentration and minutely.
If you have the time you can start or you can just wait for a week, because honestly I will be very impatient only one episode next week so yeah.

The drama has changed many things, but those are subplots. Changing his arc would change the main plot, climax and aftermath, that would highly displease the fans of the novel, I don't think they would go that way.
