It's entertaining and HMH character is the saving grace but damm our good guys are goated so easily by the eagle lord who's provocation is so dumm and obvious how can anyone fall for it...also the older brother doesn't have his priorities straight...he'd risk the peace of a country for his ego trip of participating against people who don't play fair...and as cool as the blind shooting scene was...it was also beyond ridiculous....
Ep. 7-8: When did the ML fall for FL? Till Ep. 5, there is no scene of him looking at her for more than 2 seconds…
The foundation for him falling was already laid in ep 2....every time she says something that reveals she is not just selfish but cares about the country and it's people he sees in her a kindred spirit...he also said he was surprised....he doesn't want to fall for her but is drawn to her when he feels they have similar goals...there are hints in HMH acting it didn't come out of nowhere.

Actually I think given the story the casting if someone young like Aimi now makes sense...her character is young, sheltered , naive bordering on stupid and unconsidered of her actions...thus fits a teenager on the verge of adulthood much better than an adult. I hope her character has some serious growth and matures throughout the story. Aimis and Hou Ming Has characters in the story are not on the same playing field he is more experienced and mature in spirit ..I think it fits...and a girl being married at 17 during those times is not unrealistic either...still to take account for the actresses age they will probably not have any PDA or intimacy scenes ...I think then the situation is pretty unproblematic. Also people act like HMH is an aging disgusting man....he is in his twenties . And he could pass for early twenties easily...in a drama I think it's much more important if your are convincingly portraying an age than being that age...the real issue is casting minors in mature roles..that's not the actors fault but the production teams...
I agree, sometimes it's definitely his voice and sometimes someone else it's really distracting....in LitC thus also happened but only in a very short scene. Her it switches a lot. I wonder why they don't stick with one voice
I am at ep 7 and everything is so convoluted and complicated...nothing is as it seems but one cant really figure anything out..instead the story constantly needs to tell you the twists retrospectively. It feels it turns and twists just to be twisty ...am I the only one who is totally lost? I think this drama looks beautiful and I like the fox sisters but to me this is a typical GJM Drama visual over substance or a coherent "whose done it" story. Also JJY gentle whisper talking grates me more than Esther Yus baby voice...and thats saying something. Does it get better or should I drop it?
Yes, in GJM dramas, the characters' names and osts usually speak a lot about their fates.
And usually most characters sacrifice and/or die...with this director a sad ending or unsatisfying open ending is almost guaranteed which is why I watch his stuff with caution...FoF ending was so unnecessarily sad and cruel. I hope unlike FoF in the second half people wont die and cry the entire time....

But in chinese drama they aleays stab in the gut...which is certain death in reality because you pierce the intestine...but walk away like they just cut their finger...its annoying and overdone...nobidy walks after such an injury no matter how trained.
At first I couldnt take ML seriously as a general but after single handedly destroying the camp assasin style..I am on board he played the darkness behind the smile pretty convincingly...kind of chilling...I can believe he is a an assasin turned general now...but shows stop stabbing their protagonists in the gut and having them stand up and run for miles afterwards like they just scraped their knee...either stab them and have them almost die and bleed out...or use a less serious wound... this is ridiculous.
I am a bit confused Qian Qian. Does she have a love hate relationship where she loves him back and has feelings for Qi Minand hates him at the same time because he is so ruthless, dangerous, controling and threatening her son. Or does she really hate him only? Because she seems way to hesitant in killing him and doesnt seem repulsed by making out with him even after her son is save. There is no need to play that game anymore or fake anything. He knows she wants to flee and resents him so no need to fake otherwise. Also I need Deng Kai in a DFCQ Typ role as the male lead asap. That being said I dont ship that couple its too toxic.

Really I prefer all the changes the Drama made so far...especially the romamce the constant assaulting und biting was really unromantic and repetitive. All in all so far I think its oretty close to the novel aside from minor changes. But to each their own.🙂
