It’s worse than I expected

I unfortunately completed this drama but with the help of the fast forward ⏩. When you have to fast forward a drama with 15min run time then you already know it’s a terrible drama,
Funny enough it really could have been a decent enough drama even with the run time but I don’t even know how much a better developed plot could have saved this especially with how bad the acting from Mew was, I wanted to give the acting 1/10 but I ended up giving it 4/10 because the SML did a really decent enough job and shouldn’t be punished for the bad job the more experienced actor did.
If you haven’t watched this drama and thinking should I go for it just to see for myself, I sincerely employ you to not do it.
A lot of people in the comments accusing people of hating on the drama because of Gulf, do you think everyone is a delusional hormonal teenager without a brain like you?, if majority of people say something is bad, then there should be some modicum of truth in it?
There is no ifs and buts about this drama though, it’s really bad, a no plot drama with horrible acting. It was so painful to watch actually.
I obviously do not recommend

Those intense stares/looks. Gaddaman ???

The chemistry in this drama was chemistry-ing lemme tell you. The intensity of the chemistry was the most I have ever watched in any Asian drama even Lighter & Princess ( but Lighter & Princess was still a better and superior drama all around IMO) but I feel this series was let down by the weak make out sessions especially after it still continued after years of dating, I’m not expecting them to shove their mouths down their throats like western shows but the kisses were to tame and so very unrealistic for not only the level of chemistry, passion and love they was portrayed but also the length of time they been dating.
I really liked the no toxic character in this drama, it was really a breath of fresh air, as it’s a departure from one of
CDramas favorite tropes.
Someone in the comment section on VIKI where I watched said that all the characters in the drama were there to propel the leads romance forward and that was such an accurate statement. I liked the camaraderie and sportsmanship that was displayed. I liked all the characters. The eye candy is this drama was overflowing. Special shoutout to our MVP brothers/cousins.
Although i won’t be rewatching this, it was a really good drama and i recommend.

Long but good

That fight scene (if that’s even what you call that) between Joo Won and the big guy in ep19 was trending on ridiculous. Really they were like I will just stand there and you punch me, then the other one will just also stand there and await the return punch. Really what was that scene?. I was mind blown because that scene was so surreal and not in a good way, It left me completely bewildered in an otherwise stellar production effort so far.
Anyways I did enjoy the drama overall. I actually preferred the adults story more than the kids because the kids really didn’t even have a story IMO and their abilities were significantly less than their parents or they were not properly trained, the north attacked because they felt the south were training new generations of talent, they really shouldn’t have bothered because that school was basically useless in training them, anyways as much as I enjoyed the drama at the beginning and midway point, I was ready for it to be over by the last few episodes.
I highly doubt I will be rewatching this but I still recommend if you like this genre because although there were some eye roll moments the drama was overall, really well done.

Quality over Quantity

Wow. Such a good series with matured cast and matured acting. The cast did such a good job portraying their characters. Oh and that chemistry was definitely chemistrying…. I can’t honestly say which was better, their conversations/banters or the way they look at each other, both were simply magic.
I honestly wish CDramas will transition away from the baby/childlike talking FLs and ridiculous cliched/tropey filled plots and give us more matured like dramas like this. I doubt that will happen as it seems the mature plots is not popular with their targeted audiences, which is such a shame as the minority are constantly subjected to a regurgitated load of mess.
I highly recommend this drama

Heads & Shoulders Above the Rest

I want to start by commending the casting director because they did such a fantastic job.
Aside from the script/plot (although I agree it went a little bit sideways in the last 7-10eps) which was stellar, the success of this drama IMO stems from the fact that the casting director and director of this drama didn’t cast any popular “idol” and casted people that can actually act. What a refreshing breath of fresh air to watch a drama where nobody is conscious of their angles and trying to look good instead of actually acting naturally. I totally understand that dramas want to make money and they have to cast this idols and most of them can’t act worth a dime, even to save their lives, but since they are popular and bring in lots of traffic and have fans that will defend their acting until their last breath and swear to the heavens that we haven’t seen acting like that in history and if you dare state otherwise, you are thereafter branded a hater/anti (unfortunately a lot of reviewers fear the attack from the aforementioned mobs so they keep quiet instead of rocking the boat and give their honest reviews if the drama sucked or the acting sucked), this directors are unfortunately forced to work with this very good looking but extremely average actors. Also not just acting, the combination of average and recycled scripts are also part of the problem.
I honestly commend all the actors for a job well done, I can’t emphasize enough what an awesome and stellar job you all did, it was incredible to watch, I want to specially shoutout to the most outstanding character to me and that is Princess Yang Ying aka Prince Li, the Justice this young actress did to her role will go down in CDramaLand history IMO, she was spectacular, she was believable at every point of her journey, I was left in awe everytime she graced the scene, I can’t wait to watch more from her in the future, honorable mention to Yu ShiShan, Alen Fang what a fabulous job you did with that character (and that shimmy was definitely on point)
I wish the last few episodes weren’t so rushed and was fleshed out as the beginning of the drama, it felt like they just threw everything at us all at once but all that being said, IMO this drama is still definitely heads and shoulders above the dramas of its kind this year.
My only complain would be in the romance department, if felt like they gave us a lot without actually giving us anything, the romance started out well but it kinda frizzled out as they became official.
I highly recommend.

Watched for the leads

I watched this drama for both the leads and I was not disappointed in terms of the acting. The acting in this drama was really good.
Was up with the kiss scenes, both ML & FL can kiss as seen in their previous dramas so I’m guessing this was on the director and that was super disappointing, they had really good chemistry only to be let down by such mannequin kiss. Anyways luckily the story was good enough to let it slide. Now the plot was a little confusing at first with all the timeline changes and whatnot but after awhile you get the gist of it.
One of the reasons I didn’t rate this higher is because I refuse to accept the reason giving for why MinJu wanted to kill herself, claiming it’s depression, I disagree, IMO she wanted to kill herself because a boy didn’t like her back, when she came back in ep11 instead of Jun Hee, she was all well and good as long as Si Heon didn’t notice and continued to like her but when he finally realized she wasn’t Jun Hee all of a sudden she wants to kill herself, and also Si Heon and In Kyu were friends with her even before Jun Hee showed up, so that whole monologue of nobody talking to her and liking her was complete BS, In Kyu liked her but apparently that didn’t count because it wasn’t Si Heon, so I don’t agree with the reason giving for why she wanted to kill herself.
Anyways I don’t think I will be rewatching this but I recommend for a one time watch.

Gong Jun, Enough said

I will watch anything that has Gong Jun in it, as he’s my favorite Chinese Actor along with Johnny Haung.
This might sound biased because I love Simon so much but his acting here was so good if I do say so myself. I also liked the FL’s character so much, our marketing genius plus she wasn’t a woe is me character.
There was absolutely nothing I liked about the 2nd FL, she was such an incredibly bland character and for the life of me couldn’t understand what Jian saw in her but to each their own.
The way they glossed over that peace loan incident just so the FL and Gao Yi can reconcile was baffling, no matter how you look at it, his actions or even inaction if you may resulted in the death of her father, I know he didn’t kill her father but he might as well have IMO.
The last part of the drama didn’t make much sense honestly, the FL valued trust above everything especially after everything she went through and the ML characterization has always been open when it comes to business matters especially acquisitions why then did he hide it from the FL, it was for just no other reason than to have more episodes and the drama can have drama but it ended up cheapening the character IMO & it was a shame.
Overall I enjoyed the drama and I recommend

I’m actually so mad

I was going to give this drama 9/10 but not anymore.
The father not being punished or getting any sort of retribution but instead gets forgiven and even gets to have a relationship with her when he was as guilty as the mother and stepsister is so wild to me. So is this drama is telling us that because he didn’t know that she was his child, his behavior is excused. The level of disappointment I feel about this is beyond comprehension. He gets away with everything just like that. Gosh I really am so pissed.
Once again a man’s sin is trivialized while a woman’s sin is accentuated. It’s beyond ridiculous and I am not rewarding this BS.

I guess people still like bad boys.

This series was on my watchlist but it wasn’t quite the time to watch it but the hype and rave reviews made me watch it ahead of schedule and I will say that overall I can totally understand the reason for the hype.
Don’t get me wrong I liked the drama in the totality of what it is and although some arcs weren’t properly fleshed out (I won’t go into details here as someone else already did so read review by #PeachBlossomGoddess for further details if interested) it was still a good drama, aesthetically pleasing drama. I completely agree that ZLH was overacting sometimes but honestly i didn’t mind it at all, I can’t totally understand why people especially the ladies are into his brand of crazy (judging by many reviews I read), his ferocious deranged snarl looks where one for the record books and gave the likes of Wen Kexing ( my favorite male CDrama character tied with Mei ChangSu), DongFang QingCang and Wie Wuxian a run for their money.
My Girl Bai Lu always delivers and that chemistry was off the charts, I wish we got more of them as a couple but the ones we did get was definitely worth it.
As much as I liked the drama for some reason I didn’t crazily love it and I only give 10/10 to a drama I love and will definitely rewatch.
I highly doubt I will rewatch this but never say never.

The best of the fire fighter show IMO

I didn’t watch A Date With the Future but I watched Fireworks Of My Heart and I will tell you, IMO this one is much better than FOMH, especially in the acting department, the acting in this is very good, the emotions from the actors especially the ones portraying the fire fighters was really impressive. I really didn’t care much for the 2 young newbie fire fighters, they just didn’t do anything for me.
This series was really good until about ep30 or so, it just veered into the ridiculous, so called paparazzi or media people were constantly following Lin and Nan Chu everywhere that they could hardly see each other but he could suddenly go out with Director Lou in ep35 to eat and drink and not one paparazzi in sight, I guess this plot line didn’t need paparazzi to moves things along, deep sigh

This next part is not really only about this drama but CDramas in general.
It wouldn’t be a CDrama without the breakup trope at close to the end of the drama. Then few episodes to the dramas end, viola the couples will comeback together and everything will be magically alright in CDramaLand and they will live happily ever after, and all the things that supposedly plagued the relationship which caused the breakup are almost never even brought up or acknowledged and hardly ever resolved but it will suddenly not be an issue anymore, would you care to be illuminated on the reason why, get your popcorns ready (although I doubt you will have enough time to take more than a bite as the reason is quite short), the singular reason ladies and gentlemen is that the allotted episodes for the drama has been fulfilled and it’s time to wrap up production, oh how incredulously ridiculous.

Anyways back to the drama, I have 5eps left to finish this, I have read the reviews so I kinda know how this ends so I am mentally preparing myself for it.
Although the last few episodes haven’t been that good a viewing experience for me, overall I have enjoyed this drama, I very much doubt I will be rewatching this but there was no way I wasn’t watching this once as it features one of my fave CDrama actor & actress in Johnny and Zhang Jing Yi, so do I recommend for a one time watch? you betcha I do.

Cant think of one ??‍♀️

To say the romance in this drama was muted is an understatement. Even though it was touching it felt very flat and lifeless, I wish they gave the romance life. Also they went extremely overboard with the weird lightening and filter, it was really very obvious and it was distracting at times to watch.
But it was a good drama especially the first half of it. I knew right away who the main villain was going to be, to me it was pretty obvious even though they kinda tried to keep it low key until like ep20 or so.
The irony of doing a drama about including women in the imperial court but making women the greatest villains of the drama is definitely not lost on me or any other viewer for the matter, making the villain that psychotic, unhinged and basically a sociopath just destroyed the very message they claimed they were trying to convey which was women can be and should be officials if qualified. That’s the major reason I took points from the drama.
CDramas and making female characters be extremely vile, vicious, unhinged, wicked, evil and all any of the unpleasant words you can imagine is really very disappointing, the level they make this female characters reach is beyond my comprehension because I don’t know any of those type of women in my life but oh well.

It’s way overrated

I’m currently @ ep4 but I wanted to say this, when your mom tells you that the only reason she gave birth to you was so you could look after your brother, wow, I don’t know how anyone can come back from that, because that’s just so wild and traumatic on all levels.

Update after completion.
Honestly I like the premise of the drama but some details in the execution left me smh. That Ok psychiatrist hospital was just a prop in the drama, there was basically no work done there, it was just for gossip and drama. The three leads had severe traumatic experiences but they didn’t seek extensive treatment, they should be in therapy both individually and collectively before they can become that real family they are seeking, after everything they went through I’m not buying the kumbaya family times without proper treatment for the 3 of them but what do I know. I know that Sang Te met with the director doctor sometimes and Gang Te also talked with him a couple of times too but it felt to simplistic in terms of the severity and enormity of the situation.
I finally decided to watch this drama after a long time of putting it off, if I never watched it, I really won’t be missing much IMO, so I can’t say I recommend or not.
I definitely won’t be rewatching this.

I enjoyed it

People saying that this has no plot, I don’t agree with that. The plot is basically clear. She’s out for revenge for her dead friend, how more clearer can it be? The movie is a revenge drama and doesn’t pretend to be anything more than that. It delivers for me in what it sets out to accomplish. The fight scenes where actual very decent although some suspension of belief is required at time, it had overall good/decent fight scenes.
She took my face and my Lamborghini should be an iconic phrase. Lol.
It’s not something I would rewatch but I do recommend for a one time watch.

Could have been great

hated the last few episodes hence the low rating. How tf does a character who talks so much and always has something to say become mute and can’t speak to clarify situations. To say I was pissed off at how Lusi’s character changed in the last few episodes is such an understatement. This chemistry and connection between Chu hua and Shanggan qui que was intense and hot so that’s why I’m left bewildered and baffled at their kiss scenes, it’s was so underwhelming, their lips didn’t even move, I guess I can blame that on the director. Another reason for my low rating. All in all really enjoyed the beginning and hated the ending.

Should have dropped

Review @ ep20.
So this was on my watchlist because I like YangYang but dang.
There is so many things wrong with this drama and IMO the only good thing about this drama is the visually appealing casts and their camaraderie with each other and also some of the emotionally charged rescue scenes.
So far this drama doesn’t really care about details/continuity and also getting proper procedures right. I am by no means a medical professional or a firefighter but even I can tell a lot of things that has happened so far didn't seem right and is so unbelievable and unrealistic but I guess the emotional tug of it is canceling out the lack of realism for a lot of people.
Then let’s get to the main leads, I love YangYang but the constant stoic frowny face was not giving at all. Sometimes his expressions were over the top and not adequate for the corresponding scene.
That face worked in Who Rules The World because he was supposed to be shrouded in mystery as Prince Feng Lanxi with the alter ego of Hei-Fengxi, it didn’t work that well in You Are My Glory but the script/plot in that one was better and also the chemistry/maturity of the characters covered up for it. I guess YangYang equates serious/intense with Stoic/frowny face.
But in this one I can barely feel any chemistry between the leads (which is surprising considering the rumor that they are dating). We are being told that they have this epic love that has made both of them stay single and maybe even celibate for 10years but I just can’t see it in the present time, we can’t see why they like each other because they end up fighting after almost every conversation and don’t seem to have the same life ideals and values. Even the flashbacks we’ve been shown so far doesn't really show me this epic love story, it was cute and all for a high school romance but nothing so life altering in the way it’s being presented in the present time. So honestly it doesn’t really make you care about the lead’s getting together. How many high school romance make it all the way?
The FL is basically suffering from Stockholm syndrome with her family and I seriously get the trauma she is dealing with but some of her character portrayal doesn’t make any sense. She’s very weak/meek towards her mom which is very understandable according to the storyline so far. But I don’t get why she is sassy/bold with the ML one minute but whenever they get into the rinse/repeat rollercoaster scene that has been their interactions for the last 20eps where they have the we can’t together because I don’t have the courage to fight for you but I will be stalking you and asking you why you aren’t seeking me out all the time & fighting for me even though I am the one that can’t commit to the relationship because of my family conversation and she’s uttering this words in the most lowest voice possible with downcast eyes and pathetic/demur demeanor.
I honestly tolerated the pathetic/weak/timid/demur characterization of the FL because of the upbringing she had but my tolerance level went to ZERO after the supermarket scene in ep20. The female lead had always not only stood up to her creepy delusional brother prior to that scene but also even lashed out at him but all of a sudden we are supposed to accept her acting terrified/petrified of him in the supermarket all because of a freaking bag of chips, puhhhhh-lease. That scene made zero sense and was done for no other reason than the ML and the FL’s brother to have a testosterone filled pissing contest and for the ML to be the hero and save the day by rescuing the FL and honestly it was just beyond ridiculous.
I should have dropped this drama but I will complete it with the help of the fast forward ⏩ button and except you really like any or both of the leads or you just want to watch a fire fighting show where you don’t really care about accuracy and correct details/procedures then go ahead and watch this otherwise I strongly advise you to not bother with this.

Updated review after completion.
Even with the fast forward ⏩ this was a struggle to finish. It didn’t get worse by any stretch of the imagination and although there were lots of cute scenes and heartbreaking scenes that tugged at the heart, for me it didn’t get any better either.
Typical CDrama kumbaya ending. It’s so weird that a wedding was talked about so much in lots of episodes but there was now no wedding at the end of the drama, I don’t really understand the directional decision on that but honestly I don’t even care because I was just happy to finally finish the drama and put it in the forgotten pile.
The drama just had lots of doom and gloom and the romance while cute at times was very muted for an adult based drama so it didn’t even balance out all the heaviness of the doom and gloom.
I definitely won’t ever be rewatching this. Like I said earlier except you are a HUGE fan of either of the leads or want to watch a highly questionable “right procedural” fire fighting and error filled medical show, by all means have at it, if not, do yourself a favor and don’t bother with this.
