This series is setting standards I didn't even know existed. Episode 12 really showed us sexual exploitation in the entertainment industry is not always ugly, violent and devastating the way we are seeing in Payback. It's also quiet, mundane and 'voluntary'. The show is really exposing toxic fan culture, the hidden pressures and how companies can protect their artists if they actually chose to. Finally, we are seeing 2 of the most amazing young men -Qintiang and Changyang - proving the kids are alright.
I guess they will both die in the end on the battlefield. There's no way there's a happy ever after for them, not with the poignant disclaimer in the beginning.
We don't talk enough about Lin Zi Yang, the opportunist. He's neither a friend nor an enemy (in the literal sense).…
omg I literally logged in to comment on his character! It's so real and disgusting! His only goal is to keep LuQing happy so he can advance his own interests. I don't think he even tries to keep Xiao Fan away. His theory is Xiao Fan should stay as a mere toy by LuQing's side - there to be picked up or put away -whenever the master's mood hits, without complaint or demand. I dislike that LuQing relies so much on him to clean up his messes with Xiao Fan without realizing how much of a snake he is. I hate how fantastically well-written this character is - people like him are so real.
I hope there is a proper breakaway for Xiao Fan from this toxic circle and healing before he and LuQing gets together permanently. LuQing doesn't deserve Xiao Fan yet- he tolerates how his friend circle treats him, never explained anything about Wenxi, toxically loves him secretly. He really needs a Fan Xiao level growth arc to redeem himself.
Thanks for saying this. The fandoms of these GMMTV pairs are so intense, it is hard to objectively critique their dramas. Even the romance arc was so strange and forced let alone the police work- why was a subordinate so aggressive towards his superior from get go and making him live with him? The only way to enjoy this series is to set aside all expectations and just watch it for the pleasure of seeing Joong and Dunk on screen for 45+ mins. Goddess Bless You from Death did a much better job with similar plot.
I've been meaning to say this for a while. Abo desire was good, they tried something new but lets be real, it…
It is because his character and expressions become softer as the series progresses-less cold, menacing looks; more devotional , romantic looks. If you like him, he will actually look his best towards the ep 13/14 I believe :) That's what it seemed like from the opening and ending credits.

I am more team Shulang, mainly because he's not like other MC's of dark BLs- he doesn't suffer silently. Glad to know they both have their fanbases- that is how it should be :)
I think it's a little deliberate on their part in order to avoid the craziness of some fans like it happened with…
I hope they keep it this way. The Chinese authorities are more willing to turn a blind eye to BLs if any BL doesn't become too popular. These are young , unestablished actors who stand to a lot if there is a government crackdown
I'm π― enjoying this more than ABO, I think the deviousness in this is so much more unhinged and he's such a…
The romanticizing part is where the ML actually participated in the drugging of the MC not once but twice, molested him once, and recorded him twice- all in the name of his love and obsession. I love the show, but these were definitely the low points of an otherwise good novel/series.
From what I heard is that some people don't find the leads conventionally attractive.when it started airing Chinese…
Chinese fans are so used to ultra white filtered looks, they find anyone looking somewhat natural, unnatural. In a way, it's probably good that the series is not widely popular, given how crazy BL fans can be. I am just a little sad You Shu Lang's mature grounded character will not get the appreciation it deserves in this era of mass produced BLs.
I can't believe this series isn't getting even 1/3rd of the attention given to ABO Desire. Both has same premise- lying, manipulative MLs but the plot and characters of this one is so much deeper. Shu Lang is given so much agency. The production quality and editing is also superior. I really don't understand what makes BL audience tick. Also, Chinese BLs really need to move on from romanticising drugging/molesting/recording - whether of side characters or main characters. Thai BLs did and they are now all the better for it.
I can only think of 2 scenarios that could have led to this disaster of an ending:
1. The actors GT & SWL themselves asked their scenes be reduced/cut because of the crackdown on BL series in China. I remember the the authorities cracking down on Revenged Love actors and banning them from working in China while ABO had just started airing. If that is the case, I will refrain from engaging with their pairing as this is probably not what they want for themselves. Sucks but this is the world we live in and I refuse to make anyone feel unsafe. Seeing as how Pei En and Ocean are very much part of the promotions as a boy band, I would like to believe the sloppy ending was their decision and I will respect it.
OR,
2. The production team decided to keep their scenes limited so as not to overshadow the main leads. They went too far and it backfired and now they have created a situation where the main leads are getting more overshadowed than they probably would have if both couple's stories were more balanced. If that is the case, I hope Pei En and Ocean had their contracts reviewed so as to financially benefit from the possibly unintended huge boost their pair gave this show. I am not saying it's the MLs fault in any way. Showbiz is a crazy universe, and it's always the production companies who treat their actors badly. I would hate to think Ocean & Pei En are being exploited but will not be the first time something like this had happened in the BL industry.
Either way, I am peacing out from this series, the BTS they will obviously keep dropping and the follow-up promotions. I am not a shipper- I was heavily invested in GT & SWL's story not in Ocean & Pei En -so the BTS and promotions won't fill that gap.
A show where the ML "won" a boy and then ordered his gang r*ape as punishment in the 1st episode is the most hyped BL of 2025? Really? What am I missing?
Good series but it's not a proper romantic action BL, if that is what one is expecting. It's foremost an action series about a Bangkok boy Sun who happens to be gay and has a little love interest. Peace is not a fully-fleshed character on his own but more like those supporting female romantic interests in heteronormative action movies, mostly serving as a "damsel in distress" with very little agency or character arc. They wanted to do enemies-to-lovers but downplayed the conflict so much there's barely any tension. The romance almost felt redundant by the end.
If there are any Hindi and Urdu speaking fans of this series here - this series, especially Wei Shao's character reminds of the famous ghazal by Mehdi Hassan "Rafta Rafta".
unusual for me to be negative about any dorama butγyes the title is correctοΌ gray and depressing and gay for…
honey most BL actors are 'gay for pay' as you put it. They are all actors, 'acting' as if they are gay and getting paid for it. Even BL actors doing heavy NC scenes are also acting and getting paid and so are 'gay for pay'.
