While both LoYX are written by the same screenwriter, the lengths of the novels they're adapted from differ drastically in length. That might have influenced the dramas overall writing.

At the very end of episode 8. She calls the princess of Xi He "Wang Fei" (Princess Consort) and offers her tea. A custom done by concubines to gain acknowledgement from the main wife, during their first meeting.

While I don't know how exactly the novel ends, I've heard that it's a happy ending for the main leads. Let's hope the same goes for the drama adaptation.

I think it's briefly mentioned that she is the daughter of a respected general who fell in battle. Afterward, she received her title as compensation for her father's meticulous service. In the dream, she marries the male lead as his principal consort (main wife).

Light spoiler: The guy with a white mask is the emperor's brother and a titled prince. I'm unsure about why he wears it. Possibly, because he wants to have some peace of mind and not get involved in court politics after what happened to his mother.

I just finished watching ep 3 and quite like the drama so far. Only I find it annoying that the female lead doesn't fully explain her thoughts/actions to her family. Creating unnecessary drama.

I'm at episode 7 and this drama has managed to surprise me every single episode! I can't think of another drama were the leads compete in an underwater escape act lol.

Although I'm anticipating the drama, considering the length of the original novel (~500 chapters) I'm worried about the ending/rushed plot.

As a fan of the original novel, I was really looking forward to the drama adaptation. Having watched up to episode 12, I'm feeling quite disappointed. The scenes drag (despite the cut length) and the plot is all over the place. The MC doesn't have her priorities straight anymore, causing unnecessary melodrama just for the heck of it. And don't get me started on her personality change from ruthless, competent, and hilarious to bland and confusing. In short, don't watch this drama.

The Chinese government disapproves of Dramas having more than 40 episodes. Often dramas with a larger amount of episodes are produced in one go, but are aired in 2 (or more) 'seasons' to avoid the government's rule. Considering that the novel's length it's likely they split the adapted 70 episodes into two.
