Probably her feeling that she's better than/above others ("gao gao zai shang"), her desire for more power & wealth, and her controlling nature made her blind to her children's suffering, or she simply refused to see the problem and admit that she's wrong. I see so much pride in her.

So proud of our girl XQ for publicly acknowledging SY as her boyfriend and confessing her love for him in front of Zhai Miao, her controlling adoptive mother, and the ambush blind date that she set-up for XQ. Her (very public) assurance to SY of her love for him is a very big step forward in their relationship and sends a powerful message to Fu Wen Ying (adoptive mother) - that she is not going to give up her relationship with SY this time around. FWY wanted to embarass SY, but she ended up being put in her place. Way to go, XQ!

On another note, I like Zhai Miao's character -loyal, brave, perceptive, and funny. And the brother-sister interactions and dynamics between SY and ZM are so endearing and fun to watch!

Yes, well said. I also don't understand all the hate. I haven't seen those posts in Weibo (and I don't intend to, knowing how toxic they can be), but reading what others shared here, it's going overboard.

Last night's episodes (27 & 28) have many memorable moments, just like in previous ones. Some are quite intense (SY and MYC's confrontation, XQ standing up to her adoptive parents), while others are heartwarming (e.g., SY's family), swoon-worthy (need I say more? 😍) and funny (e.g., the firefighters' banter and them delivering the new bed). The chemistry and passion between YY/SY and WCR/XQ are so palpable, and their scenes as a couple are so natural and believable. I do hope Mango TV/Viu/iQIYI/Viki will drop more episodes this weekend, including Sunday, so we'll finish the drama by July 24 or 25 😊😍.

Hi! It's true that her adoptive parents raised, clothed and fed her, sent her to good schools, provided for her physical needs and even some wants. And XQ is grateful to them, that's why she doesn't want to disobey them and tries her best to be a good daughter. However, as mentioned by others here, they treated XQ as an investment. And based on what I've watched up to this point (I haven't read the entire novel, just a few chapters), they (esp. the mother) raised her to just follow whatever they want for her (so becoming a doctor is a victory for her, because that's not what her mother wants). They wanted to control her life. Even MYC (biological son) felt suffocated. Not only that, the mother often used guilt to coax her into following her demands. It seemed their actions come primarily from a place of benefits (what's in it for me), rather than from a place of love. Not saying that they don't have an ounce of affection for her, it's just that love/affection is not their primary motivation. So although physically she was not lacking in anything, the same cannot be said on the mental/emotional aspects. And as mentioned in the comments, the mother even tried to harm/kill SY and ruin his future, which is really crossing the line.

Eps 25 & 26 did not disappoint 😊. All the patience and waiting are worth it! Can't say this enough: Love the chemistry, passion, and sweet/romantic moments of SY and XQ 😍! I also appreciate that the drama showed the trauma experienced by some firefighters after the harrowing rescue operation, & how they're recovering. I want to watch these 2 eps again before starting ep 27 later 😊.
