This is so cringey and funny, it's putting the biggest smile on my face. Worradet is so perfectly ridiculous, Nut is doing such a fabulous job. That whiney voice, the brattiness, being so utterly pathetic but serving regardless, I can't wait till he gets his heels.
Despite how good a job he's doing, honestly, no one beats Jade at acting.😂 The voice, the drama, the puking....bro needs a raise.

I understand that and ultimately I didn't have too big an issue with it but it still felt unnecessary. Because censorship is such a huge thing in Chinese productions it just felt a bit surprising that they would put male SA in something that is supposed to be hopefully paving the way to more Chinese BLs. Sticking closely to the novel doesn't mean having to add every single detail.
(I really hope they remake Advance Bravely, that would be so cool, I really want to see what a more modern production would do for something like that)

Oh my gosh! This was waaay more fun that I thought it was going to be. I'll admit the first episode was mighty cringe and a bit stilted but by the second I was enjoying this sooo much. WSW is so funny, pretty clever and yet such a bumbling dork. CC is...a character, he'll grow on me I'm sure and I can't wait to see the second leads get together. I watched the OG years ago and this is bringing back so many memories, Chinese censorship has really come a long way and I seriously hope that this is one of many that will pave the way to more Chinese BLs.
My biggest issue however was the SA in the first ep, it just felt so freaking unnecessary and could have been swapped out for the underlings beating him up instead. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Wow....I sincerely wish them the best. This must have been such a hard thing to navigate but I'm glad they're really committed to working together. Like I said, I always hope that they're good friends who will continue to work together, they have so much potential. Honestly they won't act in another series for awhile, these things don't just happen overnight so Smart will probably have plenty of time to launch his music career. I hope they can move forward happily from now on.

I'm not the type of person delusional enough to think actors are dating when it's clearly just fan-service but I always like to hope that they're at least really good friends who are comfortable around each other and who will work together for awhile. This is so disappointing I have no words.
I don't blame them, they're absolutely not to blame at all, but I feel like I wasted my love on something that just didn't go anywhere and now even the memories taste bitter.
Quite frankly they could have done this a lot quieter in my opinion, a whole fandom name and official "break-up" were seriously overkill. They could have just gone on to do their own things since plenty of actors who did a great show together don't act in another one together until a couple of years later so....they really could have just quietly gone separate ways and not made this whole drama that is tarnishing both their reputations and ruining an otherwise sweet friendship cos they'll now never even be seen together. Like I said....disappointing, man....

Exactly, Gawin and First had great chemistry and Gawin had superb chemistry with Krist in Be My Favorite so I know it's not a question of acting ability or being new to BL like Joss is. They just felt a little bit too forced for my liking, especially since there are tons of other BLs where the chem just explodes. (Top Form for example)
Star Hunter is a good example, I wanna like their BLs but it's hard when their plots go absolutely nowhere despite having really good potential.
I just figured that a BL that took as long as this one to finally release should have done a lot more to ensure that it was the best it could possibly be.

This was so boring. And cringey. But all issues like cgi and plot aside, my biggest problem was the cast.
They just felt too good for a drama this bad. Neo is an amazing actor and to put him in a pissy role like this were he did basically nothing but die to further a plot of nothingness is just an insult.
Mond is also a good actor and they built him up to be an antagonist but once again did absolutely nothing with him but to have a flimsy little death that changed nothing in the story.
Joss and Gawin are cute and they do have chemistry but I don't think I particularly buy them as a couple, good friends but not romantic partners....
Honestly this felt like a good enough drama that newbies just making a name for themselves could have been involved in, not actors of their caliber and experience. It felt like a step back, not up.
Hopefully JossGawin deliver more in Only Friends 2 where they're part of an ensemble and not carrying an entire show.

It's only the third episode and they've known each other for about a week and in that time, his dad has died and he's basically been kidnapped by strangers claiming to be family, I don't think I'd have time for chemistry with someone either. Hopefully they get more chemistry as they start spending more time together where they're not running for their lives.
As for the dad....I feel like we need a longer scene of them together but they're both understandably awkward around each other and Khanin has been honest that his other dad feels more like his dad than Tharin does. And Tharin has thought that his kid was dead for years, how is he supposed to relate to a 22 year old stranger that's clearly unhappy around him?

I like that the Assavadevathin's weren't portrayed as these altruistic, can do no evil type of royals. They're just as cunning and manipulative as the rest of the competing royals. The grandfather knew that pushing Khanin would have him bolting so he played the kind granpa while forcing Charan to lie to a confused and scared boy. (Which I feel is gonna bite Charan in the ass later on assuming he doesn't tell Khanin in the next ep) I low-key have a theory that the grandpa orchestrated the attack (he was literally the only one who knew) and is trying to use that as a means to get Khanin to compete and maybe pin the blame on one of the other royal families.
I liked how realistic it was, Khanin being awkward around his bio-father (who is probably too soft-hearted for the crown) and I really hope they get closer. (Also his dad seems gay since one of the casts is listed as a step-father? can't wait for that storyline)
Also liked how Khanin immediately stood up for Ava, boy was like, I may have my own agenda and fighting one person is wasier than two but damn if I'm not gonna speak up for woman's rights.
I like the slow-burn and tension between Khanin and Charan, like obviously Khanin is attracted to Charan who definitely feels something for him in return but it's not the immediate focus.
Khanin has been violently tossed into a nest of vipers and Charan is literally the only calm and safe space that he has right now so he's desperately clinging onto the one person who knew him as Kenneth/Khanin rather than the Next Prince.
I also hope they go more into the Emmaly kiss lore (I kinda want Khanin to rebelliously kiss Charan in public and force them to be a pretend couple, the previous trailers hinted at a fake relationship so I can't help but wonder if he'll use the kiss as the excuse)
The first two eps were slow but I feel like they had to be with the wealth of story they were building up towards and it looks like things are finally picking up and other characters are going to start playing a bigger part now. I can't wait until next Saturday!

This was perfect. I love how they had Jin wooing Akin rather than them just falling into bed with each other, that was a nice touch.
And that honey....honey, honey, honey....That was the sexiest scene I've watched in awhile. I loved how it switched from a dark room to that golden honey hue, it was so beautiful and sensual and passionate, very well done.
My one critique would be them making Akin kinda socially inept. As a seasoned actor in the industry for the amount of time that he has been, he knows the game and how to play to the audience and give them what they want so it's weird them portraying him so standoffish/shy/unsure of how to react on a simple livestream.

Definitely, especially if you're familiar with the anime. It's great how accurately they stuck to the source material while adding their own personal touch.

Personal preference exists. Plus I said I hope they grow into their chemistry, not that they had zero chemistry. If you don't like the other series, good for you, don't watch it. Doesn't seem to stop you from voicing your opinion which is literally all I did.

The first 2 episodes were great but a bit fast but they're really getting into a groove now an I'm loving it. The long hair and historical outfits, I'm in love.
Their chemistry is out of this world and I can't wait for the honey scene 😏🍯it's gonna be good.

Both I guess. The characters are a bit off but I honestly just think Joss and Gawin need a bit more time to build some rapport with each other as performers, especially in a romantic sense. (Maybe by the time Only Friends 2 comes out they'll be more comfortable in that kind of role) They look they're good friends in real life but it's a different story when you have to play a couple. Hopefully they rise the challenge.

My problem is that neither character is showing much charisma or personality. Even their interactions with each other are flat and kind of stiff. Maybe it get's better, I certainly hope so and would continue to watch regardless to see if it picks up a bit more.
I don't think or expect everything to make sense just 3 episodes in, but what has been shown so far hasn't been that great as opposed to other's that have had me hooked from the very first episode.
Everything is different though, so I'm still giving this the benefit of the doubt.

I shouldn't have to read the novel in order to enjoy a series, especially if there's no guarantee I'd even enjoy the novel. Also, not everyone has it available in their area and it might be difficult to find, so saying "just read the book" is pointless.
I've watched plenty of vampire stuff and even in ones that don't follow a traditional vampire formula there is still a common theme among them.
I'm sure they'll explain things further in, I'm just saying that what I've watched so far has left a lot to be desired.

It's fine but it's not great and a part of me fears it's not going to get better. It honestly feels like they went through a million rewrites and forgot what story they were trying to tell.
The characters are lackluster and their motivations are flat. Things that should be explained or questioned just aren't. Why do the "good" vampires care so much about peace? Why must Tong be protected only until he's 22? It's not like his blood type changes at a different age, or are the vamps not allowed to touch him when he's that age? Why can the vampires do all the things they're not supposed to, what are their actual weaknesses? Are they literally just extra powerful humans, boring. Explain please....
The side characters (Tonkla) are irrelevant and it's such a waste of Neo's talents to be stuck in a side character role. Nakhan is shaping up to be a pretty comic-style baddie and not a menacing figure which is sad, a story is only as good as their antagonist and he just...isn't.
The sweat thing is weird and kinda gross....
And I might be in the minority here but...Gawin and Joss just have zero chemistry while acting. Outside of acting they're great and adorable together but acting....not so much.
I'll still watch it out boredom and curiosity but so far, Top Form and Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist are waaay better and they hooked me from the very first episode.

In which case it's great they omitted it from the anime and I'm pretty sure they'll do the same here which is the great part about adaptations, you get to make things a bit more healthy and palatable to watch. So people giving shit for a small peck and talking about a scene that hasn't happened in this series and may not happen at all is pointless.

Everyone going on about what a red flag Jin is supposed to be based off of the anime...? Did anyone even watch the anime?? Junta (anime version) was the farthest from a red flag. Pushy, overeager and horny 24/7, but red flag? We must have watched something different then.
He always supported Takato/Akin, took care of him, tried to protect him from evil industry people....what's greener than that?
And there isn't SA (not between the leads at least, from a side character there is a bit of non-con but never full out assault) in the anime Takato was a bit reluctant and embarrassed by the intimacy of being with another man who made him feel so many different things but he was never forced to have sex with him.
Everyone needs to chill, trust me I've seen red flags in all manner of BL things, Jin/Junta ain't one of them.
