This was sooo fun. The chemistry is great, and the production quality is so good. While I love how closely they're sticking to the anime I feel like they're adding too much of it too soon. It's taking away a bit of the mystery for me. Also I hope they focus a bit more on Akin's POV in upcoming episodes. I want to see more of his petty aloof whiney kitten side. All in all, this is going to be a good drama, sad that it's only 11 episodes though. Maybe 12 can be a special episode??
Well....it's still enjoyable for me but gmmtv has a way with tanking series with really good premises so we'll see as the show gets further along. For now, I'll watch it with more amusement than seriousness. I mean, his sweat revived this vampire....like, eww. Would it have killed them to make it his tears, it's just as cringey and less gross. The garlic bread was hilarious though and Gawin is so freaking adorable! Joss is handsome but I need them to flesh out his character a little more before any conclusions can be made.
I hope AouBoom can really showcase their acting chops and chemistry here. So far they've played very sweet lovey dovey roles with each other but for something like Only Friends, they're really gonna have to dig for a schmuchy toxic attitude. I hope they can pull it off and if they do I really hope it paves the way to a series where they're the focal point. Soooo upset for OhmLeng though, they had so much potential it's just sad. I mean Ohm and Nanon haven't even been in a series together in dog years and Ohm was always paired with a bunch of others from the get go of his career and Nanon has done mostly straight roles (he did good getting out of the toxicity of BL pairing wars) so seriously, get the fuck over their pairing already. Hopefully the both of them can recharge and when they have a comeback (together or apart) they can give a huge middle finger to the haters.
As much as I have loved this series, the finale was rather disappointing. It was longer than the other episodes and yet they did nothing with it. It was such a golden opportunity to tie together all the loose ends rather than have horny prison arc (which I did like, a lot, I admit) but damn, they got 5 years and the mother just....bribed her way out? Which is fine but she was the villain for heavens sake, make her a little more menacing and if she taught them everything on how to be killers shouldn't she be aware that they could overpower her measly two guards? And Pepper's character was soooo useless that I don't even know why they bothered with him in the first place. If he had made a cameo at the end, showing up to help all of them escape the mother's clutches, my god that would have been so cool and a perfect way to full circle his complicated relationship with the brothers and the mother. It feels like a lot of missed opportunities and potential. That said, I still enjoyed it. It's still better than a lot of others I've seen but it could have been more. Ultimately the actors and the way they portrayed their characters is saving grace and most enjoyable thing about this series. They gave it their all, they could make you laugh, cry, roll your eye and be annoyed and that was really a treat to see them all together. I hope some of their future projects have a bit more sense and don't involve a cast that they ultimately will do nothing with.
This episode was so perfect at showing the complex emotions each character was going through and damn did PerthSanta rise to occasion. First of all to everyone complaining, they're literally playing 19/20 years olds so there's no use expecting them to deal with their issues like emotionally mature 40 year olds. Gun has been "sunshine" for a long time and that's incredibly burdensome because when you're not feeling it, everyone is in your face about why you're not happy. He's trying to be understanding of someone he loves by hiding his hurt and by locking the door it was really good because that showed Yotha that despite him waiting, he wasn't allowed to just come and go as he pleased. As for Yotha....as someone with divorced parents and who has witnessed more toxic relationships than I can count, that has personally put me off love as well, Yotha was veeery relatable. You don't want the relationship your parents had and the one person who made you take a chance broke up with you on the basis that it wasn't love at all. That's gonna mess someone up. He doesn't know how to deal with his true feelings of love for Gun in a healthy way and as much as he was hurting Gun he was also hurting himself just as much. Honestly it would be boring if things were just cleanly resolved and as much as the angst kills me seeing Santa perfectly capture the contained heartbreak was amazing, he and Perth are gonna go so far together and I can't wait for their other series. AuoBoom as well, whew, damn can they steam up a room together. I hope that with obvious and increasing interest in them they'll start to get more roles together, they deserve it soo much
It baffles my mind people's negative reaction to this episode. Granted you're entitled to feel however you want about what you're watching but I have watched some truly, truly bad BLs that people have raved on about it being the best they've ever watched. This doesn't even come close to bad. Sure there may be a few missteps or things that you may have to suspend disbelief on but still, come on, its a romance show about hitmen, how realistic is it gonna be anyway? This whole idea that Kant and Style should be so much more prepared and two steps ahead of the literal professionally trained killers is ridiculous. They're both ordinary civilians in over their head on a task they never should have or wanted to be involved in and they're supposed to be what? Two super spies that can solve any problem? Get real. As for Bison and Fadel...yeah, they're killers, and have a predisposition for violence and mayhem but they're not unfeeling by any means. They both were betrayed by the people they tentatively dared to fall for and had their worst fears realized. Getting some measure of "revenge" by making Kant/Style fall deeper for them is literally the actions of hurt little boys. As for it only lasting a day....Jesus, sometimes plans don't freaking work out the way you want them to as has been shown many, many times. Bison literally has a history of acting before he thinks and jumping the gun. No show is going to be perfect, not every single box is going to be checked, characters are sometimes going to act in ways that are a little unsatisfying, but that just makes them human to me. And honestly the phenomenal acting and amazing chemistry make up for every little thing for me. So to anyone dropping this series....sucks for you I guess, I'll continue to enjoy my Wednesdays quite happily.
Khao has the most expressive eyes of anyone I've ever seen. The lovesick puppy dogs eyes, the dead look when his mask drops, the heartbreak and desperation....I literally fell in love with his eyes alone. It's soo sad that it took Bison getting hurt for Kant to admit to his true feelings and even though it's heartbreaking, I'm going to look forward to him "making it up" to Bison in ep 8. The way I just know that they're going to have to get raw and real and vulnerable with each other, both of them opening up in a way they've never had to/been too scared to. Fadel and Style....god, they make me so happy I could cry. Style kind of just accepting his fate and saying "at least I won't be lonely when I die" to Fadel threatening him. I think a huge part of him knows that Fadel doesn't have it in him to kill him and we all know that Style never backs down from a game of seduction to get what he wants. This series may just end up being my all time favorite.
Is it just me but I really like the consistency of Fadel having sensitive nipples? In every one of their intimate scenes they always have Style going for his nipples and him kinda melting cos of it. It's really interesting to see a character have a consistent sexual thing they like. I wonder if they'll ever go more in depth about Bison and his masochism....
This was better than I thought it was going to be. Honestly I wasn't sure how much I was going to like it but it was pretty good. A bit clumsy and slow and you can tell that they all need a moment to gain their bearings and get into a rhythm with each other, but all in all it was solid. I'm really glad they didn't use too much special effect sounds for some reason and the music is soooo catchy. I can only imagine the music to come as the series progresses.
Nothing is more annoying than a "straight" guy literally being harassed into liking the gay one (or I guess bisexual in Johan's case since he only dated girls apparently) But Ter literally cajoling North and hounding him to give Johan a chance when North has only dated girls and given no indication that he has anything to do with Johan other than paying off a debt, or that he is bisexual himself, is fucking ridiculous it borders on anger for me. Your best friend is stressed and working a dangerous job to pay back a bipolar asshole who keeps upping his rate and you're, what? Telling him give said asshole a chance and shipping them? That's messed up and I'd want my friend to unequivocally be on my side not some stranger. Maybe it's different in the books and some romantic interest was shown beforehand with North but the viewers literally only have the show to go off on and a straight guy being lowkey forced to confront these nonexistent feelings for another guy just doesn't feel realistic. Also, while it's great they're focusing on other characters, there are still 5 episodes left. Hill-Ter's story isn't done yet and Johan-North are like maybe 2 episodes away from getting together so....how else are they gonna drag this out for? I don't think I can stomach 5 episodes of Hill's asshole grandfather being a bigot and thinking he can control a grown ass man and whatever misunderstandings they'll put Johan-North through for the sake of "plot"
Earth is cute and sassy and has such good fashion sense irl and honestly he's a decent actor....but sometimes I just can't watch him without wanting to rip my hair out (I fully blame the writers/directors though) I'm just sick of him playing these whiney, pouty, insecure five year olds. And if I have to again see him have a tantrum and mess up his hair in frustration I'm gonna lose it, there are other ways of showing you're frustrated. Honestly Santa made the best choice in leaving Wabi Sabi, maybe now he won't be pigeon-holed into boring roles and honestly he just looks like he has waaay more chemistry with Perth than he ever had with Earth and I think that has a lot to do with the fact that Perth is only 3 years older than him as opposed to Earth being 8 years older. Also, love Sammy but whhhhyyyy does she always act these over-the-top annoying roles where she's just loud and pulls the most obnoxiously ugly facial expressions? Girl, you're pretty just stop making those faces! As for the story....I started late to give more episodes but...I shouldn't have bothered, not like much plot has been going down. Considering Perfect 10 Liners follows the same kind of plot point and they're not that far apart in episodes AND they're directed by the same person, you'd have thought that he'd be more skilled at giving each character a chance to shine. I know this supposed to have a part 2 (budget wiling) but even then, you can show the other characters interacting with each other and others. If it's slice of life, then give me the life of people hanging with their friends.... Might let this finish and see how the reviews are later....
It's watchable I guess....but it leaves so much to be desired. The characters have so much potential but they're so viciously shoved down my throat that I can't enjoy their personalities shining and coming forward as the story progresses. Shows these days are all about tell and not show that I can't form any attachments to the story or characters. Like, show me more about how and why Atom likes Matmi and show me more about how he starts liking Kongthap. The plot needs to breathe! It's only the 2nd ep and you already have Atom realizing his feelings.....what's the next 10 eps possibly gonna bring to table?! You have a show that has enough eps that you can flesh out a lot more characters and plot points, unlike the JBL which had so few eps. But while the JBL was short, the emotions were on point and believables cos J-dramas tend to be quite slow paced but heavily put emphasis on character development. Here I honestly don't know why I should care about any of them, if they've already started at the finish line of development then what more can they do story wise? I anticipate it being rife with stupid misunderstandings.....sigh..... The acting is passable, honestly I hope Gemini/Fourth work on something that challenges them in the future. Midnight Chicken may honestly be their best work......
This series was just ok for me. There was nothing interesting or particularly special about it and I only really looked forward to it in the beginning. Tay and New had a comfortable chemistry but it wasn't amazing, passable at best. It's just, I've seen chemistry lately with BL boys and it's off the charts but they were kinda lagging which is odd considering how close they are and that they have another BL coming out. Character wise....Achi was pretty boring and soulless and I get he was grappling with his own insecurities but there was nothing that really gave him that....extra something, like oh, he's hiding a pretty great part of himself but is too shy to show it. Karan was...too green, if that makes sense. Like, give that man a statue and make him a saint. There was literally nothing wrong with him. Which was the problem. I'd have liked to see some natural human flaws in him. Trash talking a difficult client in his head, having a dirty thought about Achi, actually getting insecure about Achi reading his mind and maybe coming to terms that he didn't have to appear perfect to Achi, that would have worked nicely in showing his own insecurities and making Achi feel a bit more comfortable around him. As for the side characters....Pai and Rock were cute but so-so. Jinta and Min....at times I likes them and at others I didn't, i feel like if they'd gotten a bit more screen time and bit more mind reading hijinks then they'd really be more fun but....they were just kinda a bit too cringey after a while. It wasn't bad at all, I absolutely loved it for what it was but the Japanese version is better for me and the anime is also taking the cake right now. Kurosawa arguing with reason and desire is what I'd have liked Karan to do a bit of.
This series is really interesting and it's really refreshing to see a high budget production. Especially one with such an intriguing story. It's a bit confusing at some points though, like certain things just feel like they need more context. Also not that I don't like the supernatural element, (I do, it's so unique and not something you see often) it just feels a bit out of place for the action, thriller, police investigation, vibe they're already doing. The clash of genre's is a bit mismatched. It's great that they're making it work so well for themselves but a When A Snail Falls In Love vibe would have also worked really well. Multiple small cases all leading up to the big one where you need to pay attention to the small ones so they make sense later. Loving the chemistry and acting though, top tier.
I have a crazy theory that Yi's dad is the one who sabotaged the car. I mean he was the one who gifted it to Diao and since he couldn't drive it was never used until Yi drove it. Maybe the dad was tired of Diao's family demanding things from them and since Yi/Diao cheating or separating will result in a loss for them, he tried to off Diao....a week is too long to wait to figure things out.
but will top really love mew?? from his character video, its clearly stated that he have no problem laying just…
I more HOPE he falls for Mew only to realize at the end what he's lost when Mew dumps his ass. Plus I feel like he wouldn't have gotten into a "relationship" with Mew if he didn't like him. I mean sure he's cheating and whatever but cheaters are usually like that, they'll cheat but won't leave their partner cos they still love them or whatever. He probably wanted the whole conquest thing, started liking Mew but couldn't leave his sleazy ways behind and then it'll bite him the ass later on.
From they way the trailer went...I hope Top ends up alone. Like through all the toxic cheating and lying I hope he genuinely falls for Mew only for Mew realize that it's not worth it and dump his ass. Personal theories....Sand and Ray might work things out when Ray gets a nice rejection from Mew and I'm thinking....Nick and Boston would try to be together but Boston would continuously screw up and eventually Nick would leave and then Boston and Top would get together but they'd just be so toxic together that the relationship would end ugly.... I can't wait for this series.....
Would it have killed them to make it his tears, it's just as cringey and less gross. The garlic bread was hilarious though and Gawin is so freaking adorable! Joss is handsome but I need them to flesh out his character a little more before any conclusions can be made.
