I could say everything is okay, except for CY's dress transition in the middle of the fight. He is fighting, then suddenly the white robe becomes black.
Personally, I usually hate love stories like this 😩. The FL is the widow of the ML’s elder brother — it’s truly a forbidden love 💔. And the second couple? The Grand Princess and her much younger retainer 😳. But even though I dislike this kind of setup, I have to admit the story feels fresh 🌸. It’s not the usual “handsome hero meets beautiful girl, misunderstandings, and love follows” cliché — nor the typical “forced marriage to lovers” arc.
About the political intrigue 🏰 — it felt familiar: wars, traitors, a hostile kingdom, and a mastermind hiding behind a saintly mask 😈. But what stood out was something rare — the entire male line of the ML’s family is dead ⚔️. There’s rebellion, long-buried secrets, and ML and FL working together to uncover the truth 🔍.
And my favorite part? Ding Yuxi 😍. His look as Wei Yun really reminded me of Melody of the Golden Age — so elegant and charismatic ✨.
Oh, I thought that he was someone from Northern Qi. Even if he is handsome, I really do not like the princess and Han Mei duo. Because they have such an age gap. And I do not think we could see him poisoning that way. In the novel, FL was already married to Wei Jun, but here, she was not. Whenever making a drama adaptation from a novel, it always weakens serious matters in the original work.
