actually for me the only interesting thing is the good looking ML. Personally i am not in to that type of love stories and characters. But I have to agree that the chemistry between the lead cpl is on fire.
Just watching Episode 31. I’ve watched hundreds of C-dramas, so these kinds of plots and scenes are very familiar to me. Yet, whenever I witness the inhumanity behind political games, the ruthlessness of rulers, and the people living comfortably within luxurious inner chambers while ranting. carrying immense power and wealth, with a great burden and a responsibility. The most powerful people may appear to stand above everyone else, but they are often walking on thin ice—burdened by immense pressure, pain, and, at times, profound helplessness. No matter how familiar these stories become, that weight never completely disappears.
Because of my exam, I was not able to watch it from the premiere day. I just started it tomorrow and am currently watching ep 25. Now I read the recent comments here. And think that so... i want to complete this bcs the start of the drama was really good and also i love this leads. But sometimes it started to feel off abt something here.
I'm on Episode 7 now. After a few episodes, this has turned into the kind of costume drama where every scheme hides another scheme. It's basically a plot within a plot
It wasn't unheard of to have multiple wives in ancient China, especially for rich noble men. They just have different…
Yes, I know it wasn't unheard of. But XJY is the legitimate daughter of the Grand Tutor and a princess. On top of that, this marriage was personally arranged by the Empress Dowager.
In most C-dramas, we usually see illegitimate daughters or women of lower status becoming secondary consorts, and their weddings are nowhere near this grand. Even the matchmakers in those cases aren't people of such high rank.
This is the first time I've seen a secondary wife or secondary consort with such a prestigious background and such a lavish, officially sanctioned marriage. That's why I'm confused about her exact status in the Xiao family.
I'm only on Episode 2, and I'm a bit confused. Can someone explain this to me?
The ML already has a wife—the Crown Princess. In what seems to be their first meeting, a little boy even calls the Crown Princess "Mom." Now the ML is about to marry the FL as his second wife. She's not entering the family as a concubine or a lower-ranked consort, but as a legally wedded wife betrothed by the Empress Dowager.
So what exactly is the FL's position in the Xiao family? How can she be a legal wife when the ML already has one?
