I haven’t seen ep 20 yet, so I wasn’t aware of that. He may be feeling guilty then, or he wouldn’t have looked so panicked when she called and told him she was drunk in the pool. Guilt and grief often go hand in hand. He may not have been grieving the loss of love, but he can still grieve because of his inaction (?) which may have contributed to her demise (I still say little sister’s hands are very dirty because of her death).
It’s like watching your daughter grow up and take the world by surprise. After all the torment and ridicule…
Her role in Pearl Girl also. I was amazed by how forceful and yet vulberable she was. I love her acting, but even more as a person from what I have read about her. And, how she seems to take care of her friends and Fu BoHan.
He is going to be a force to reckon with when he is older. Already so talented and LuSi just fires on him.
I was on my way to rewatch ep 20 but got sidetracked. I love this drama so much I just want to cry. No offense…
It’s like watching your daughter grow up and take the world by surprise. After all the torment and ridicule she has endured in rl, she transfers that to this roll incredibly well. Maybe this character gave he the impetuse to kick her agency to the curb? No more bullying, no more playing along because it’s what’s expected of me, no more taking the emotional abuse just because there’s a contract. She’s a resilient young woman. I would love to be her grandmother - I’d be flashing pics and bragging her up everywhere. 🤣
I had a hard time watching him in that role! Ge was brilliant in it, but it destroyed the sweet young man from LR in my mind. The roles were polar opposites.
SHM throwing money at XY is not even about her at this point. This is about him not being ready to be vulnerable,…
He numbed himself after his girlfriend died. And let’s look at his parents and how they treat his son - and his bear sculpture in the rock wall in the garden. He had no real foundation for maintaining or experiencing real love so it was easy to put his emotions into a box called “work” and not have to admit how much love can hurt sometimes.
Ep:20 I think haochen is not shm's biological son and I hope it's true it's all fang lei's plan to trap shm
I agree with you on this. And, it would not surprise me to see that she is directly involved with her sisters death. Think back to when she got him to come to the pool and what she said.
Gotta say william chan acting is sooo good, I'm impressed. This is my first time watching him and damn he acts…
If you like costume dramas, watch him in Novoland Pearl Eclipse. It was the first drama I saw with him in it and he was hypnotic. It’s very good and he looks fantastic in costume and performing martial arts. And I completely agree - he is an excellent actor! (and those dimples 🥰)
He want perfect wife , who easy to control, who can make his family love her, accept his illegitimate son, can…
He’s like her in that he’s not had parental support. He wasn’t tossed aside like she was, but they did ignore him even though he was with them (like the boy). Remember the wall in the garden with the little bear? That was him as child and even now as an adult. He’s too used to staring at the “wall” of parents who do not know how to love and show affection just like her also, and he can’t accept it because he had it and it’s gone. They are very similar, it’s just that she still has the capability to love genuinely and he’s hardened his heart after the passing away of FL’s sister. This is a very deep story on many levels.

this is it exactly. In ep 12 (I think) she tried a soft approach to bring up the lies but using th “I have a friend” example and he flat out told her to tell her friend to keep lying so it does t mess anything up. I think he’s know for a long time that her background is fabricated. The people he has investigated so far have all be tied to her past. He’s a businessman, and his need to know the details are imperative to success.
What a mixed bag. Parts of this drama is top notch. The acting is fantastic, the relationship is realistic and…
That is because the drama is about them rebuilding their relationship, not their jobs. Yes, there were nameless side characters, but the drama wasn’t focused on them it was on the Leads getting past their misunderstandings from the past and falling in love as adults. Same for the 2/FL. There was also the wrecked marriage of the FL’s parents, and how a vice can destroy a marriage, family and business like it did with the ML’s parents. Then there was her best friend (restaurant owner) and her husband who had an age gap but still managed to have successful businesses and marriage. Then the scheming woman who tried to trick the ML into marriage through his family’s money crisis. And the ML’s best friend from school who lost a great woman because he was a bit of a flirtatious jerk. And then the 2ML’s son, who was very mature for his age, needed a mothers influence in his life, and had very little adult contact due to his fathers job.
Everything about this drama is broken people who either wallowed in their misery or grabbed life’s difficulties and wrestled with them until the hard work they did became a happy ending.

All relationships.
