I agree. Jumping to conclusions before the drama fully plays out can ruin the storyline for that person. As does writing a review prior to the full drama is viewed.

I like to see the story unfold like turning the pages of a good book. You can form opinions and speculate on the motives, story progression and ending, but you never know the full story until the credits roll on the last episode.

Thanks for posting your thoughts on this. I am on episode 7 and they dropped a couple of little hints about the complexity of the ML here that indicate despite being from a rich family, his life has not been what people imagine wealthy people’s lives must be like.

Same here! This role is so diverse. The hardworking girl trying to make a name for herself to take on her dream job who is sensitive and actually very kind. Then there’s the poised, unwavering but respectful fiancé who wants her future MIL’s acceptance, but won’t take her bullying. Then the little girl who wants Prince Carming to cherish her above all others. Such a complex character.

She does indeed. She just keeps getting better, and so livened way she challenges herself by taking complex roles.

I was up very early as well. Yes, it is that good! Zhao Lusi dies not disappoint as anticipated.

This is a great drama so far!! Viki only has 2 episodes up at this time but I can feel that is is only going to get better and better.

Zhao Lusi is absolutely stunningly beautiful in this drama. Her clothing and makeup choices really accentuate her face and figure.

And William Chan is so handsome. His dimples are so cute 🥰

I am up to ep 6 on this drama, and have been very impressed with the script, the actors, editing, production. It is a masterpiece and deserving of much better rating and viewership.They have done an excellent job of creating a mini-drama with each story that blends together to give the viewers glimpse of the difficulties faced at ground zero when covid was first found. It’s very very good.

I am finding the stupudnesss and inane story line rather amusing. It is more comedy than romance, but that’s okay. I just hope the ML can get better scripts and pair up with better FL’s. I really liked his performance in Deep Affectionate Eyes. He’s doing a good job in the comedic role, but I feel he’s being dragged down by the lack of even normal chemistry with the FL.

I am only on ep 10, and I swear the look ML has worn that lavender colored clothing set at least 70% of the time (exaggerated number), yet the FL has changed clothing several times.

I knew Zhao Lusi is quite socially minded. Every roll I have seen her portray has been one of a strong woman who doesn’t hide her femininity but embraces the entirety of a sharp mind and a wise woman. I like that her roles are not the typical pouty female who has to have a man who caters to her all day long. Even her costume dramas show this in the characters she portrays. She is resilient and hard working like her characters, and I would find it fascinating to sit across a table over lots of tea to talk with her.

I will have to keep what you’ve mentioned here in mind when I watch this again and see what else I notice based on your insights. Fascinating! Thank you for sharing this with me.

I appreciate your dialogue as well. I did not notice that about the flowers! The product placement was very subtle and only made it seem like it was part of normal life rather than something they were forced to shove into a scene to satiate sponsor. Iwill have to see if I can get a copy from the library to read the book.

No, I have not read this novel. I did notice at the beginning g of each episode that the little line drawing with the episode number contained an element of what was taking place at the end of the episode. And, the use of flashbacks brought detail into responses each of them had after they got together we’re so well done that one didn’t really mind the flashbacks because they actually filled in gaps rather than just being filler material.

I have not read the book. But noticed the references to it. I will have to at some point because it did pique my curiosity.

Maybe this is a difference also. The films or stories produced here very rarely are accurate representation of the novels on which they are based. There might be a small detail here and there, but never fully depict situations or subtleties as can be conveyed in the written word.

It can be frustrating when people basically tend to look at things based on their own country of origin or the inadequacy of translated text. In the drama they kept talking about an age gap making it sound like he was 20 years her senior when he was only 5 years older than her. That’s not significant at all.As for the research, I tend to do that on things I don’t understand or that catches my attention and knowing my country and laws are different from those that govern China,especially when it comes to things like kissing and relations in dramas. Where Ii d it is very different - there is very little not portrayed on film and one of the reasons I have stopped watching TV here.In Prisoner of Beauty, Liu Yuning was asked about the scenes where his and Song Zuer characters were intimate, and this is true of all adaptations where the book is differently represented. POB was *very* spicy in the intimate parts, and it was LYN who said that if they had portrayed those scenes exactly as they were written, the entire cast and creweoyld be in jail.This is why I try to tell people to look at the drama differently than the book, because, unless the book is 100% fluff, it cannot be the same on screen.They had to change the age gap so that the drama was not promoting anything illegal, and did not cause backlash for everyone involved.Hopefully people will be able to think things through a little more before they take an excellent production and cast disparity on it because they ignore cultural differences.I am glad I was able to help you sith trying to make things clearer.
