Okay, I finally finished this! And I’ve got to say—damn, why did I finish it so fast? It’s peak! Definitely one of the best adaptations ever made. The production quality is top-notch, and the psychological depth is so good I could talk about it for hours. the OST was also absolutely amazing and its now part of my daily playlist. I honestly thought The Spirealm was my number one in C-bromance, but this drama just took the crown (sorry, Spirealm lovers—this is just my opinion 🥹).
First of all, the plot is superb. The chemistry and acting—IT’S SO GOOD! The casting was spot-on, and the actors truly nailed their roles. ZXC, in particular, was phenomenal: his expressive eyes said it all, making him the perfect Pei Su 🥹🥹. His chemistry with FXB was absolutely through the roof! FXB was also excellent in his role. He carried himself so well as the captain—cool, commanding, and effortlessly charismatic. And honestly, his attractiveness pulled me right in. Like… damn, daddy? (ehem... sorry) I loved how they began as rivals—the Tom and Jerry of SID—but eventually became each other’s safe space, to the point where they couldn’t live without one another. MY PARENTS FOR REAL!
And also, I’ll never forget the scene that felt like a “divorce arc,” as I call it, when things between them almost fell apart. But then FXB/LWZ REALLY turned it around, bringing his “wifey” ZXC back home. At that moment, they were practically like a married couple, and it was everything! (I felt really happy, like a child watching their parents finally reconcile.)
Their case-solving was thrilling, making you feel like you were part of the SPECIAL INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT. The mysteries, the professionalism, the teamwork—it was just the coolest thing. I loved the whole SID gang, and I’ll miss them dearly.
The ending? Chef’s kiss! Finally, a happy ending. In most C-bromances I’ve watched, the story ends in heartbreak, but this one healed me from all those C-traumas. I’m afraid I’ll never move on from this drama. I already miss the bickering and bond of Pei Su and Luo Weizhao—and of course, their adorable little Ping Diguo!
I’m also really thankful for the platform where I watched it. The subtitles were excellent, and I feel so lucky to have found them. Big thanks to the previous commenters who dropped the link—you guys are my life savers!
Guys, are the bl vibes stronger than the untamed, word of honor and the spirealm??
watching it so far, its like the two have become each other's only way of living. it is very good and i do recommend to watch it if you've already watched the other three, Justice in the dark has a high quality production and the visuals is just... *chef's kiss* the mystery solving is adapted so good that even the viewer might feels like a part of the investigation team.
ep 7, The emotions... im still a teen so i really sympathize with Yiyong. the actor is really good at potraying emotions. It doesnt feel forced but natural, and it really captivates me. his experiences are a bit similar to mine, i really should learn to cherish things while it still lasts... Bonus points for the two male leads in this episode too, on a call together while sleeping and then eventually sleeping together? and them developing their bond? i love this so much!
Male lead really looks like Song Weilong at some angles, makes me think about SWL's role as Zhang Ping from the a similar series (but historical) "A League of nobleman." Pu Yiyong and him are a bit similar, just Pu Yiyong is just a bit on the grumpy side🥹
