Chinese censorship hates bl & bromance....two completely different terms but when it comes to grievances from NTRA side then they fall under same category......they are strictly against bromance & bl....anything that doesn't belong to these genre or subgenre is given a pass ......but if even slightly related to bromance or bl they never gonna get green signal...... Not only you , even I have seen so many drama this year that have used censored themes & stuff that is banned by NTRA but they all got to be released coz they have nothing to do with their ultimate target ⭕BROMANCE /BL❌ A new term has started circulating in the C-drama industry that is brotherhood , nowadays......THIS Term brotherhood means nothing but a censored bromance .......earlier censored bl found a way to pass censorship under the guise of bromance but now they have put embargo on bromance too so basically all those dramas that fall in the bromance genre/subgenre can't see the light of the day unfortunately......Only brotherhood dramas( dramas that show usually one or both male leads having female love interests proving they are straight but still depicting close affinity with bros or the bro-bro dramas based on original scripts) are the only kind of dramas that can slip past censors otherwise not.......The Spirealm is once in a blue moon case......it was low budget adaptation so was justice in the dark .... that's how these two gotta leaked easily .....but other high budget dangais especially costume ones like immortality, Eternal faith , winner is king , the story of bat, etc are all going to be shelved & never gonna get the broadcasting signal before bl ban era ends......... Tbh , I did see tencent & iqiyi producing double male leads dramas this year, but all the ones that I have seen have female characters also in main role alluding the presence of female love interests, for eg: Ya She, Bright time, Pledge of Allegiance, Dashing Youth, etc.... and in other cases like Gui Zhao, Running in like a shooting star ,etc which are double male lead dramas without any probability of sub-romance based on original script & not adapted by any novel in particular ..and in some cases they can be mild male friendship dramas like White cat legend , Live surgery room or even mildest friendship dramas with double male leads pairing but with negligible chemistry like Link Click, tiger & Crane, Silicone Waves, ..........may be series produced through any of these ways can pass censorship, I guess so ..... I haven't come across any Dangai drama specifically mainstream production this year from China itself without collaboration with any other country like Thailand, etc

I kinda hate Shen Tunan's character,....for his ridiculous belief, he took so many innocent lives and destroyed so many families.......He looks more like an antagonist by helping those corrupt KMT officials clean up their mess ........Shen jinzhen was so right when she told WRL that the problem doesn't lie in the policies but the corrupt federalist power hungry mindset....... I really don't want to talk about Shen tunan's political stance with him saying that Politics is an art of compromise ...but why the hell can't he make that compromise with communists, after all he shares same endgoal as them...Why does he considers revolutionary communist ideals as villianous schemes....? I really can't comprehend that...... As depicted in the drama , federalist look nothing more than ravenous monsters greedy for power & money .....they seem to lack conscience and Shen tunan amidst all those corrupt officials is fighting a lonely battle ....In this sort of genre, I definitely don't expect characters to be white-washed with top notch ethical values & green flag attitude but still it's more than evident how CCP was trying to better the lives of the commoners while KMT officials were sparing no effort to raze the nascent communist empire to the ground.......... I too belong to a federalist nation and have witnessed the federalist ideals supporting corruption at its peak so I couldn't help myself feel disgusted at the sight of KMT's sanguivorous beasts squashing the lives of commoners & glorifying the sleazy money in their blood-tainted hands earned at the price of innocent lives........I am approaching the end of drama and I know communists are gonna win but I feel bad for all those innocent lives being taken coz of Shen tunan's sickened obsession with his degenerate belief........ The drama has a great story , besides some romance thrown in here and there which I thought wasn't necessary.......I skipped all the romantic scenes of Shen tunan & lin qiaosong with their respective partners as to me they looked like nugatory fillers .......but since the drama had such a captivating plot & compelling arcs, hence It was worth watching it despite having to skip sometimes........ Also , I appreciate the beauty of Shen Jinzhen & Wei Ruolai's character.....its hard to find a drama, where the young main Male lead & female lead charcters don't share a romantic story line instead a tacit bond of friendship.......it's beyond my imagination why many people can't acknowledge the possibility of platonic friendship existing between male & female characters Even in the drama, except Jinzhen & Ruolai themselves, everyone else was busy shipping them🤣 directly or indirectly.......Characters don't always need a romantic background story or sub plot to portray their emotions ......human emotions can be portrayed in many other ways to show character development like the brotherhood between Wei Ruolai & his rickshaw puller friend Ah' Wen, Wei Ruolai's sibling-coded relationship with Niu chunmiao and his camaraderie with Hao ge & his companions, his comradeship with Jinzhen & other communists and last but not the least..... him being like a big brother to Fang Ling though for a short time and also a famlial little brother to his real bro Wei Ruochan ........All these relationships throughout the drama beautifully accomplish the emotional development of Wei Ruolai's character ........... I loved Wei Ruolai & Shen Jinzhen's character till the end ...they stayed 💯true towards their commitment to serve the nation!!!
Edit: I was hanging to the last bit of hope that Shen Tunan will finally choose the right side and he didn't prove me wrong, coz he actually did turn over the tables at the last moment........If only Jinzhen did be alive to witness the transformation of her brother, she would be so happy🥲😁, ...... Live surgery room was epic transformation of plot from the novel changing romance to bromance 🤩....and MLC was certainly the best of all🌟....The Spirealm was ok-ok to me...it also felt one-sided sometimes but not always so it's was better than this one.....after all that was based on bl novel so it's understandable

Agree bro, in the anime that wasn't the case....it was both side but in the drama it has become one-sided, I first thought it could be because of censorship but then I realise that there is some issue with Jiang long's acting, he was the same in tiger crane also, there also bromance felt one sided.....I don't think so, Jiang long can portray microexpressions needed for conveying bromance.....Glory of Special Forces, he was bit more bromantic with Yang yang but in case of tiger crane with ZLH and this one with BWJ, he doesn't hit off well with both of these two actors, it's good on their part but something missing from JL's side....I have seen lot of bromance since censorship became stronger after WOH...and found that most of the times to pass censorship they show one-sided bromance, so it can't be entirely the actor's fault.....it's just the way it is or else they can't pass censorship ever.....MLC was once in a blue Treasure for Bromance lovers but not every drama can be like that especially in this censorship era .......
