This drama is quite slow burn. And from my opinion, in a nutshell this is a story about how responsibility and love can co-exist, hahahaha. We are not yet reach the climax though.

I think it is better for you to wait for more episode to come out and binge watch it. Because as for now, we are watching the main lead getting attracted with each other and how they grow together in their romance maturity. I like watching the slow burn because it makes the story realistic. But not everyone has the patience to wait weeks for it

Honestly, I am disturbed with one of trailer Yan Dan said to Tang Zhou that he owed her a heart (or half?!). I hope it is only a pretending from her, not her true thought. Because it is not fair to ask Ying Yuan/Tang Zhou to repay her for something that she did willingly (even going against his wish).

Actually, no. It is just in this forum people who empathize with Ying Yuan is louder. I personally prefer Ying Yuan way of love. Because I have seen in real life what happen when your husband is such big public figure with heavy responsibility toward masses. But, there will be some people that prefer Yu Mo way of love, like you.

You cannot really compare Ying Yuan with Yu Mo because both of them has different stature in society and responsibility. It is fate that Yan Dan fall for Ying Yuan. It is just unfortunate their love comes too fast before both of them ready for it. Loving a man like Ying Yuan is difficult. You need to sacrifice more and literally share him with the whole world. You cannot have him for yourself and there will be a time when he cannot prioritize you at all. But love is love, the heart cannot be controlled. Some women will prefer Yu Mo because it is easier. But some will still choose Ying Yuan despite the hardship.

In a way, idol certainly cannot be hold responsible of his/her fandom conduct. But, in this kind of fandom culture that currently trending, some standing or confirmation might still be needed for certain event.

Hopefully no. Because the vibe that I got back then when her fans claimed that she was forced to take this project was that xianxia was beneath her already. And she needed to take on "mature and serious" project to further her career. It is only a vibe, whether it is a fact or not, I don't care.
I am happy if she is nothing like her fans indicate her to be. It is not the first time that fans bring down their own idol in entertainment industry.

Yes, it is one of the reason why people just cannot sympathize toward Yu Mo. Still, I don't think I will be able to like this character even though he is played by better actor. His action in this pas few episodes just suffocated me. I dislike seeing Yan Dan seems to always need to placate him and catering to his need. They are no problem as friend, but as romantic partner ..... just no.

I am not talking about Tang Zhou. Hence, I deliberately wrote Ying Yuan in my post above. Also, those Tang Zhou actions were not done because he love her. He thought since she was a spirit, it was his duty to catch her. The context is wholly different.

People start to discuss on why some of us dislike Yu Mo character. I think some of us cannot truly say why we dislike him. Logically speaking Yu Mo is perfect. He is sweet, gentle, and care so much toward FL. Compared with ML that somehow "only know to hurt FL", Yu Mo here should be the winner. So why for some of us, something just "not right"?!

I think the way we look upon Yu Mo character is depend on what kind of person we are. Some women love this type of man (nothing wrong with this). But some will abhor him. Why? Because Yu Mo love is somehow suffocating for those who love freedom and independent. I personally cannot bring myself liking the kind of love that Yu Mo gives to Yan Dan. His way of love, making me somehow have to please him all the time. I will need to stay beside him 24/7, need to tell him everything of my plan, need to including him in my future ambition, etc. Yu Mo life is pretty much revolving around Yan Dan. Believe me, this kind of relationship for some of us can be so tiring.

On the other hand Ying Yuan gives lots of freedom to Yan Dan to do her things. It is as if their life are never interfere with each other but they support each other in a way they themselves never realize. They are both need each other and don't. Yan Dan and Ying Yuan are themselves when they are with each other.

Based on what I have seen in the drama, Yan Dan character is free and independent. She always fight her own fight with her own way. She might matured later on, but this core personality will not change, only be more tempered. According to her personality, she can never develop romantic feeling to Yu Mo.

The sad thing about Ying Yuan is that he is never given a choice to begin with. He is indeed born with immense power, thus come the responsibility with it. But I don't like how people around him try to use him for their own desire.

I agree that he cannot focus on love alone since as Ying Yuan the world peace literally hang upon his shoulder; he needs to set priority. But I want him to truly want it, out of love to the world, not out of guilt and effort to redeem himself.

Sorry. I think I miss-wording my previous comment. I want to imply that "event though" she has the thought, she will never dare say anything against xianxia. Even more because she is become so popular mainly thanks to Ashes of Love.

Yeah. It seems all the current top actor/actress got their popularity through staring in xianxia, including Yang Zi.

Exactly!! Real life already so stressful. It is not the genre fault that it is used to propel young inexperienced actor/actress these past decade. I personally abhor the practice. Because acting in xianxia is different from modern drama. There is certain body language and demeanor. That cannot be learnt in short time.

Some of her review is good. However, ever since I saw she kind of bashing Love and Redemption, I realized that she didn't like xianxia. I truly don't understand someone who claimed to love TMOPB can hate other xianxia like she did. I don't remember she ever said anything good for any xianxia drama aired after TMOPB. So, I just stopped listening to her review for any xianxia drama. People really need to stop taking her words as bible, though.

I don't know. I love to read comments in Douban forum and video from Station B. It is more often to see comments from Cheng Yi fans and passer-by than from Yang Zi fans. It is peaceful does not mean they care about this drama.

She will never dare to say that. I believe that there are lots of xianxia lover in China and all of them will be very offended if she said that. Therefore, what her fans doing back then actually hurt their own idol.

Moreover, xianxia is one genre that differentiate chinese drama with those from Korea and Japan. I don't think China will ever stop producing xianxia. The problem is that xianxia needs bigger budget to make it looks good. Not to mention its high demand on actor/actress appearance. It is difficult to have all correct ingredient to create great xianxia. I think IS is the first that have good combination of main leads. Usually, either ML or FL will be "wrong".

Well, Cheng Yi and Yang Zi have lots of black fans. So .....
Also, it is the premier. It is logical if people coming there, especially when there is no IS new episode.

Yeah. I read the comment under her video, and there are people who decide to ditch IS just because of her review. Crazy.

I don't think when you are older, you will dislike certain genre. I like xianxia ever since I was a child. Now as an adult, I still love it. The difference is that I am now more critical toward acting skill, because I understand life more so I know which expression is correct, which one is wrong.
