As I take it, actually the one thing that make the original fans angry mainly because the drama change Tang San personality setting. If all of you annoyed when some of us ranting about the way world transmigration is abolished in the drama, I have nothing to say since it is truly rather unreasonable for the original fans to get angry for that. The Tang sect hidden weapon, I personally wish the scriptwriter to find a smarter way to go around it since the current setting will make it difficult for the future (if they really want to make more season out of this IP), but I do understand.

The point that I want to stress in my comment above is how it is impossible for us the original fans to just stay silent and swallowing bad adaptation. Some of us might be ranting more because of the anger (I agree some of the comments might be uncalled for), some of us more reserved. Those are normal reaction when you see the thing that you love butchered beyond recognition in front of you. This is the fate of popular IP being adapted.

And please be noted, that there is also black fans disguising as original fans in order to dissing Xiao Zhan. I take that most of us here familiar with Xiao Zhan scandal last year. If anything, it just make his every drama prone to black fans wrecking havoc in every discussion. Still, this is not the basis that some people could use to determine that all original fans that said bad things about this drama are black fans either.

Now lets discuss the drama just like all of you wanted out of us. The point that you said about teamwork, brotherhood are indeed correct. Douluo Dalu is indeed a novel that put importance in those point. The early part of the novel circulates mainly in the friendship of 7 shrek devil and how their trust toward each other grows. Honestly, this is the part that I love the most from the novel. Not to mention the relationship between Master and Tang San. But, just as every adaptation out there, character personality is sacred and should never be changed. You can change the background story, adding emotional line here and there, as long as the character setting remain intact. Some of us perhaps still ranting but believe me, it will be drown soon enough once the drama still give them the character they love so much.

The drama actually change character setting quite a lot. The problem is when you change the character setting, it will change the flavor of chemistry between the characters that we original fans wish to see in this live adaptation. If anything, live adaptation is excel in this kind of thing the most. We wish to see the character we read, alive and moving. What should the character emotion, expression, etc in certain iconic scenes, we want to see it!

Tang San place within the 7 shrek devil is special. Dai Mu Bai is indeed the "boss" and all of them are seeing him as their first brother. But Tang San is the one who they will look for when they are in problem since he is the wisest. He is the brain and team leader. The dynamic is actually beautifully portrayed in the novel, especially in their team battle. Now, since it is that beautiful in word of text, how much more then if we can see it in live adaptation. This is the sincere wish of us, original fans. But now, the change that the drama introduced more or less destroyed this wish. Yes, I do hear some of you said that Tang San needs time to grow since the transmigration plot is null now. But, up to now, the Tang San depicted in the drama is not Tang San that we original fans familiar with. We are indeed will still get the friendship dynamic in the drama but it is of different flavor that we expected. It is like expecting a vanilla but you get strawberry taste instead. Unfortunately, some us just want vanilla and not other taste.

This type of comment actually will only make the original fans madder. By your logic, any original fans of any adaptation out there should just swallow anything thrown to them in the name of the greater good, i.e the works getting known by wider audiences. Your argument might looks beautiful in a way and I do agree that some of the original fans went too far in their anger, but your way of thinking would never work.

First of all, for an IP to get adaptation, it usually because that IP already has a fandom of certain size. So, Doulou Dalu got a drama adaptation was more or less thanks to original fans. You cannot say to these fans to just accept a bad adaptation. In a way, we are already emotionally attached to this IP for long time and bad adaptation will elicit strong resentment. On the other hand, if a certain adaptation is having a nod from original fans, the effect would be tremendous to the drama future popularity and any continuation project. Nothing defeat a bunch of passionate people.

Believe me, no original fans will ever be glad for a bad adaptation, no matter the reason. Your saying that more people would at least know this IP is only a sweet talking in original fans ears.

Moreover, the case of bad adaptation of xuanhuan novel is a long history. I had my share of raving mad toward Fight Break Sphere (not in MDL) and I do sense that I will join in this drama critic soon enough. My point is if we as original fans are too tolerance toward this kind of bad adaptation, the producer and capital behind will continue to make more of these bad adaptations. The most that you can ask of original fans are to make our critic more civil and restrained from abusing actors. These are reasonable demands. But asking us to stop commenting of how bad this adaptation is, is too selfish of you of drama fans or actor fans. Because everybody has right to comments, be it novel fans with our negative or those of actor fans that want to praise their idol work.

I also heard about TJSS involvement but I will take that with a grain of salt. High chance he had no hand in scriptwriting and just said that the drama has his consent as part of marketing.

I hope the capital will learn from what had happened with The Lost Tomb series not long ago. The latest adaptation: The Ultimate Note, pretty much had universal nod from the novel fans and I saw and see how much fervor those novel fans can go for that drama. Passer by and drama fans then just join hand and the discussion is so very much harmonious.

What I want to say is: original fans is very powerful, especially for big and popular IP. So, instead of alienating them like this, the producer should think of making adaptation that could gain these fans approval. There is no such thing an adaptation is made not for original fans but general audiences only. It is a crazy notion, except the original material is not popular.

Honestly speaking, the success of The Untamed largely was thanks to the novel fans. Both Xiao Zhan and Wang Yi Bo were not yet become traffic at that time.

One of my favorite novel already suffered the same fate; Battle through the Heavens which adapted into Fight Break Sphere. It was an abomination.

The fight between original fans and adaptation fans (actor fans and drama fans) is an old song. It happened multiple times. In a way, original fans have a bad reputation as someone who will always complain. However, not long ago I witnessed how much power original fans can wield when they approve a certain adaptation. I hope the producer could learn from this.

Tang San personality in the novel is indeed interesting. But no one tops Li Qi Ye from The Emperor Domination in my opinion, hahahaha. I hope that novel will never get adapted ever. Because I don't think the current crops of actor will able to handle the character good enough.

Douluo Dalu is my first ever xuanhuan novel. I actually think that this novel is not a good choice to be adapted into a drama because of its storytelling structure. If Battle Through the Heaven that has better structure in regards of drama storytelling was butchered until beyond recognition, I don't think Douluo Dalu will be able to escape.

Honestly, I have not watched this drama. I am currently in lunar new year holiday in my hometown where internet is rather limited here at my home, hahahaha. So I will wait until I go back to check it out. However, based on people comments here and there, I think I already get the gist of this adaptation. Some changes are understandable and need to be swallowed however bitter they are such as the origin of Tang sect hidden weapon. But some are rather unforgivable from book fans point of view such as the change in Tang San personality. While I understand that Tang San character needs to "grow up" in the drama, I have seen lots of future clips and sorry to say the vibe that Tang San give up in all those clips is of angsty and emotional young man. Tang San is a calculating and decisive character. He might give in to his emotion once or twice, but is is always done with cold calculation. I hope I am wrong in this because the change in characterization of the lead is the biggest taboo in adaptation.

Also, I think you need to give up on your hope of seeing any Tang sect resurrection in this adaptation. By the pace of this drama, I think we will stop when Xiao Wu identity is opened by Soul Hall. I even don't think we will have Clear Sky Clan storyline here and any other plot further. I instead am curious on how the drama will end.

I don't know whether Xu Lei is involved with Heavenly Palace. Because I get the gist that they kind of part ways ever since The Lost Tomb 1. Anyway, the author involvement will not raise my confidence toward this drama.

I think 24 episodes are more than enough since they only covered 1 book. Ultimate Note only used 36 episodes to cover 4 books.

Heavenly Palace, Ultimate Note, and Reunion are produced in more or less in the same timeline. And we can see the difference between Reunion and Ultimate Note.

To be honest, I somehow feel that Reunion is a kind of Alternate Universe for The Lost Tomb series. The Wu Xie in the Reunion is not Wu Xie that I have known in the entire main series and The Tomb of the Sea.

As I have said before, Xu Lei said that the web novel version of Reunion is a more or draft version and he will add the element from the drama to the novel later on. At this point, I have no hope to the Restart novel (the base for Reunion drama). In my mind, The Lost Tomb series ended at Ten Years Later novel.

I hope so. Reading the comments in bilibili and douban, I get the feel that the books fans feeling toward Xu Lei mainly already cold. And the main drive for Reunion popularity was not books fans but actor fans. On the other hand, the main drive for Ultimate Note popularity is books fans.

As I see it, Zhang Qi Ling holds a very special place within the heart of the majority of the books fans. So when they see how Xu Lei treated this character in Reunion drama, they just rioted. Ultimate Note just like adding oil to fire. I think the main reason why books fans love Ultimate Note so much is because Xiao Yu Liang acting. They love this actor interpretation so much. From all comments that I have read about him, 99,99% is all praise.

Huan Rui produced The Lost Tomb 1 (with Li Yi Feng as Wu Xie and Yang Yang as Zhang Qi Ling) and The Lost Tomb 2 -Explore with Note (with Neo Hou as Wu Xie and Cheng Yi as Zhang Qi Ling). Heavenly Palace is a direct sequel of this The Lost Tomb 2. Ultimate Note actually following story after Heavenly Palace.

I cannot say anything about the chemistry since we don't even have any trailer yet. Bai Shu that acted as Wu Xie, I like his acting in Love and Redemption. So perhaps he will do well as Wu Xie. My concern is with the actor plays as Zhang Qi Ling: Zhao Dong Ze.

One thing that set apart Xiao Yu Liang from other Zhang Qi Ling actors is his martial arts and professional dancer background. Those background made him able to make Zhang Qi Ling fighting scene superb and so amazing to behold. The other thing is his temperament and aura that successfully humanize Zhang Qi Ling and makes the audience distressed about this character. All of these make it very hard for any other actor to be compared with him. Moreover, Heavenly Palace was produced around the same time with Ultimate Note so they would not have opportunity to adjust the script or anything to make their adaptation more palatable.

I have no hope that the level of fighting scene will be as high as in the Ultimate Note. Chemistry will up to debate later after the drama is aired. I only hope that Heavenly Palace at least will be true to the novel characterization.

I think everyone agree that The Lost Tomb main series needs a remake with the same actors and production team in order to give a sense of continuation. Before Reunion, the books fans seemed to agree that Xu Lei and his production house will be the one most capable for this. But after Reunion and then seeing what Ultimate Note brought to the table, lots of people have different mindset now.

I hear that there was no advertisement for this drama back then. Currently it comes to people attention mainly because of one of the actor, Xiao Yu Liang, get more popular thanks to Ultimate Note. I am so putting this in my watch list. It seems pretty interesting.

The books fans .... as I see it .... quite mad how the drama that has no author involvement proved to be very obedient toward the original material while the one that has his involvement is pretty much ...... I read the comments in Douban. Most of the books fans claim that the iron triangle in Reunion drama is OOC which I tend to agree. Iron triangle in Reunion feels rather disconnected from the iron triangle depicted in Ultimate Note and The Tomb of the Sea.
