He finally free from suffering but why am so sad that he still holding that pouch.
Exactly!!!! All she did just protecting her son but she never protecting Cheng Xu from her son. And when he tried to protect himself, Ming Yu just strategizing behind him ......

Also, if not he was dying, I believe Ming Yu would never snapped out from her delusion. She was very much caught up with power, however much she denied it.

I remember back then, a FL centric drama was pretty much the trend. At that time, ML was a little more than decoration that only purpose was to give his love to the FL. It was very rare for a FL centric drama back then to delve deeper to ML character development.

It is a remake. The ending is set. Is Xiaozhuang mishi popular back then? If yes, then perhaps they just want to replicate the success. But unfortunately, this time around most of the audience is more sympathetic to the ML, so this sad ending is ........

She used love to coerce Cheng Xu makes lots of concession for her son benefit. Now her son is just as lovesick as Cheng Xu, and died following his lover. Yea, a karma indeed.

Perhaps something happen that enlightened him of his stupidity? Well, guess this remake makes an effort to redeem the young emperor character unlike with the original

Cheng Xuan also died??? Before Cheng Xu even? .............Seems the drama will deviate a little from the original.…
Him surviving while still pining over Ming Yu will be pure torture for him. Unless he find solace in other place. Also, I don't want to see him "running errands" for the bratty emperor anymore. I am so so mad watching episode 40-42, and that while I cannot truly understand their conversation.

I will need to rant again here once we get the subtitle for episode 37-42.

Hahahahahaha!! I am fine with Cheng Xuan die. But I wish he dies after Cheng Xu. It will be too sad to leave Cheng Xuan alone with that beast of child emperor.

This is how XC died?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioD4CyriLoQ

Seems the drama will deviate a little from the original. At least it seems FL will be with ML in his final day.

In a way, with both brothers died, it will serves both her and her son right. Let them fend by themselves.

I think the FL likes to justify all her decisions as being done for the 'greater good'... but really I just think…
At this point, I don't even want them to be together in the so called next life.

I know this is the impossible but I still wish the emperor turn out to be XC’s son. Even XC die or not at least…
No, the bratty of emperor doesn't deserve to be Cheng Xu son. My blood already boiled watching his antics.

Finally catch up to episode 36. Also took a peek to episode 40-42 raw.
I shall pronounce it now:
I hate Helan Ming Yu.

Stupid, self-righteous woman!! So she thought that the end justify the means all along. All her chummy acts toward the emperor now make sense.
Watching the raw, I even calling her an inept mother now. Spoiled rotten as child. Is is a wonder that he is so rebellious even after growing up?! Double-faced father, self-righteous mother, what an apt recipe for a disaster of son!

Hahahahahaha!! I want to see Ming Yu progressing from woman in love to bitch who manipulates and uses her lover for her own gain. So that I can hate her justly, haha. So I need to watch the entire series ...

I also want to see Cheng Yi interpretation when he finally realizes that all his sacrifice all these years is all for vain. Based on clips I have watched, this drama will deviate from the original regarding that scene. In the original, it was the ML own initiative to sacrifice himself.
In my opinion that scene and then his death, will be the pinnacle of ML in this drama.

In a way I already give up on FL character and acting.

It is so funny that most of us here wishing ML early death, hahahahaha. I, too, hope him to just leave Ming Yu and her son alone. Just let them mess up. No need to care. Just live for himself for once.

I admit that I lost my interest at episode 22 because of boring harem story. I just continue watching today (up to episode 29 now). Too many harem scenes, not enough political scenes.

Ming Yu by episode 29 has not grated on my nerves yet. But based on comments here, I will rant against her soon enough. Currently she is only annoyed me by her neither cold nor warm attitude toward the emperor. Any normal man will think she was playing hard to get. What did she wish to achieve with that kind of attitude anyway?!
I already hate all other woman though, including Ming Yu maid Zhen Er.

As wonderfully as Cheng Yi plays the devastatingly beautiful, self-sacrificing, all-around "good guy," I would…
Ooooo, that would be interesting to watch indeed!

I belong to category B. Actually I don't mind pain as long as there's a happy ending. Although this is a remake…
I agree with you regarding the difference character development trajectory between ML and FL. But, I have to say that it more or less is correspond with what happen in real life. Male usually get stronger after fall in love because he has this urge of protecting his love. Female on the other hand, once she falls in love, feels that she has someone to depend on so she subconsciously lowering her "defense".

FL that have my praise in all my years of drama watching is not that big in number, hahahaha. There are only two that I have no complain at all regarding their character from start to the end. Others, either annoyed me in some part or I just dislike their character development.
1. Mu Ni Huang from Nirvana in Fire
2. Ru Yi from Ruyi Love in Royal Palace

Xuan Ji, I agree that she is one of the better group in my list. But, the acting made me biased toward this character ...... Moreover, the way she was led by nose by her father and Hao Chen (after Si Feng identity revealed) didn't sit well with me.

You spoke my mind. I watched Bu Bu Jing Xin when I was in my teenager (or early 20s). I remember that I rooted for RuoXi at that time. And felt sad for her predicament in the end. But now, I find myself criticize her for her selfishness and her predicament in the end, partly is her own undoing.

It is because as I grow up, I learn that both man and woman should uphold their own integrity within the society and being a woman (as weaker side in physical mean) does not exempt us from taking responsibility of our deed. That's why I hate FL character that only know how to become damsel in distress and let the ML shouldering her mess. There is time when FL needs to stand up for herself.

These years, I have my own share of raving toward FL character in lots of drama. I find today's drama like to make their FL badass from outside but damsel in distress within. So annoying.

Title Stand by Me
So our theory is right then, the reason why Cheng Yi's costume like that is because he still has filming schedule…
What? Variety? I don't like it when an actor has too much activity beside acting in the middle of filming. Because it might affecting their concentration.

Hopefully his company will not make this into a habit.
