I have suspicion that he really goes back to filming after today event. His clothes truly rather plain today, hahahaha. Pretty sure I saw pictures of Li Yan with much better clothes than today.

The cast list above has not listed Han Cheng Yu role. But judging from his clothes, perhaps he is of royal blood. Some Wang Ye perhaps.

I belong to category B. Actually I don't mind pain as long as there's a happy ending. Although this is a remake…
Ah Ruoxi .... This is a FL that I thought only love ML in her mind and fantasy and not the real ML. Also I don't like how she used her 21th century mindset to judge her lover way of conduct.

In this drama, I cannot root the kind of FL that seems so flimsy in her love. All her raving about move on grated on my nerves sometimes because we all can see that her heart still hanging on Cheng Xu. But she was sooo chummy with the Emperor. It was not until Xi Qi that she was finally woken up by cold water.

Now that you mentioned it, indeed his costume is most luxurious among others. And Cheng Yi character supposed to be the King , hahahaha.

Lots of happy faces of fans. Seems the event could be deemed as success.

This is one of those dramas where:A. You're a masochist and love the pain that comes with these kinds of storylinesORB.…
I am about half and half. I am an "A" which mean that I do love this kind of tragic story full of pain kind of thing. But I also hate the FL character (usually will stay away from this kind of drama), so that where "B" comes into play. Hahahahah!

Time to wake up from our dream to reality ..... The only way for the audience to be able to bear this frustration…
Exactly! I only have watched a couple of episodes plus clips of Xiaozhuang Mishi. I don't like the FL character, period. Even when her son tarnished the dead ML reputation, she was mostly cool about it even though I understand her reason. But her expression was too cold.

The Promise of Chang An will give more weight to the ML, I think. Because nowdays most people don't like it when one of the lead is only acted as decoration. I still remember like 10 years ago lots of drama actually very FL centric. No depth of ML whatsoever. But, ever since Ten Miles Peach Blossom which gave a certain portion to ML, everything change I think.

Time to wake up from our dream to reality .....

The only way for the audience to be able to bear this frustration is rooting for the FL. If we root for her become empress dowager in the end, then ML pain would not depress us this much because he will only "tool" in her journey to power. But if we root for ML (like most of us do here ... including me), then this will be a painful journey for us.

It is clear that there is no happy ending for him. Currently, I want to see how much pain FL will give to ML and how FL reaction and live after ML died. If she just move on without any remorse (like how she moved on from her love after her marriage), then I might end up hating this character.

I think there will another bigger heart break later on when FL chooses her son over him .....
I am here to see how "bad" he can do it. The episode 10-11 were very powerful already though. Let see whether there are scenes top that in the future episodes.

Last time I cried a lot was in Nirvana in Fire 2 when the ML father died. I want to see a devastated scene acted perfectly to capture my emotion

Hahahahahah!!! I come to this drama with full expectation of knife driven to my heart. I want to see how painful Cheng Yi acting could be. Because this will be worse than L&R. But, his acting is shining in this kind of drama exactly.

I think he forgot that "love" must exist first for someone to be able to feel jealousy. And he knew very well that Ming Yu didn't love him. Somebody needed to teach him how to court a woman, hahaha.

I've been worrying that Xiao Chengrui would eventually force himself on Helan Mingyu, especially when he threatens…
Seeing the direction of the story, I am pretty sure Ming Yu pregnancy will come out from a rape (either by force or by threat). The emperor just a man whose pride is hurt. That with all his position and care, there is a woman who still prefer another man. Not to mention, his conscience must have reminded him everyday that his throne is a stolen throne.

Su Yu Ying teaches us that spoiling could lead to disaster of personality. Pretty sure she grew up spoiled without anybody dare told her not to do something. Hopefully lots of parents of there watching this. Person like Su Yu Ying also exist in reality.

It's really ironic that many husbands still think their wives should love them whole-heartedly but they don't…
The opposite is also true though. There are wives out there who wondering why their husband don't love them enough while all they do everyday is throwing tantrum and only know how to demand, hahahaha. That's why this drama is so interesting. Unlike L&R which gave us perfect lover in the form of Si Feng, this drama gives us example of flawed human being.

The worst of human, that we usually waved off in the real life was shown here. It was so ugly. Xiao Cheng Rui and the empress hypocrisy, Su Yu Ying selfishness, I believe actually exist in real life, too. But, here we see how their act hurting the others so much.

Finish watching until episode 22. Cheng Xu is too kind!! He should have divorced Su Yu Ying!!

This drama is interesting. It shows male and female at their worst in regard of unrequited love. And it is so resounding with real life. The male, represented by the emperor Xiao Cheng Rui. He thought with his power and lavish gift, he could have all woman he wanted, including their heart. He forgot that people heart is can only be given voluntarily, cannot be taken by force. I suspect sooner or later he will raped her, thinking that it would make her yield. He doesn't know, once you take woman by force, you are forever barred from her heart. Nothing you do will matter anymore.

On the female side, we have Su Yu Ying. She has this obsession with Cheng Xu. She doesn't care that he loves another woman. In her mind, as long she married to him, he will care for her. And she thought when she threw temper tantrum by torturing his servant, he will realized his fault and be kind to her. Well, life doesn't work by that rule. Once a man disgusted with a certain woman personality, her beauty will no longer matter. She can be the most beautiful woman in the world and he will never look on her twice.

its depressing... it definitely won't have a happy ending. I spoiled myself by reading wikipedia. Not to mention…
Hahahaha, seems fair enough. The pace certainly not the best. I just wish all of us do not give a bad rating based on genre preference but truly based on the drama quality as a whole. Even more, we are still in the first half of the story.

I understand that this is depressing. But there are people who actually love this kind of genre. I just hope we can rate a drama based on storytelling, script integrity, and acting, and not just because the story not compelling enough for you. I have friend who looks for exactly this kind of tragedy drama. But, because of the rating, she might avoid it thinking that this is a bad drama.

If you don't like the current direction of story and this is not your cup of tea, please refrain giving a rating this early because your evaluation will be clouded by your preferences, not a fair one. If by the end of the drama, you still feel this is a garbage drama, then by all mean give your rating.
