I think the King already interested in her. Well, perhaps partly it was her fault, should not go out a flaunting her beauty and wit in front of other male (especially when she was still single). I find it weird that she never told her sister about her infatuation with Cheng Xu. Sisters usually talked about something like this.

That's why I said that I hope ML dies as far as possible from her. Just left her with all her progeny to fend for themselves. She is just not worth it.

I believe we will see this attitude change after she gives birth to her son. It is a karma that the son is bad king.

I think Ming Yu just don't love him enough. Right after she thought he died, she considered herself marrying the King (even though it was to save Cheng Xuan, I don't believe she could not think other way). I bet if the ML didn't come back that night, she would have consummated her marriage.

Even L&R didn't hurt this much because there is still hope in the horizon. Si Feng always in a way let himself a sliver of hope that Xuan Ji loved him back. In this drama of episode 10-11, Cheng Xu has none of that.

The crying in that scenes was so powerful. There is a sense of helplessness in his acting, as if life has lost its meaning. It has different nuance than his crying in L&R. I praise him to be able to give core difference to his crying.

If he maintained this kind of level of acting until the end, I will swallow any anger toward FL and endure through the pain until the final episode. His acting is too good to be missed.

It is indeed yes to all, hahahaha. Still remember when I watched the batch episode 36-44. I spent the entire night watching in anger, hahaha. But, no worries you will have your temporary relief in episode 48

Regarding Yuan Bing Yuan acting, yours is not unpopular opinion. I think lots of people out there (including me actually, unfortunately) criticized her in this drama. It is not that she is a bad actress but her co-star just that good. So when we watched them together, it creates this unbalance thing that give us an uncomfortable feel. Lots of people criticize the script too. But I think it is not the script or the character fault, but the actress failed in fully used the script to her advantage. Perhaps if the male lead was not Cheng Yi and other actor that less skilled than him, all these critics would not ever happen. She was stellar in early Xuan Ji, her Xuan Ji is naive but not annoying, so I praise her on that. But, she really lacking in emotional scenes.

Maiden Holmes, oh it is ML first drama? I just put it on shelve for now. Currently it is very hard for me to tolerate lesser acting skill from any drama, so fresh from L&R. It is one of the reason I chose to watch Promise of Chang'An despite knowing that I most probably will end up hating the female lead character. Cheng Yi acting there takes all my attention.

Yanxi, ah yes. Actually the female lead choice is the one that shied me away from this drama. Even though I could understand, I dislike how she was together with the emperor in the end. I am of opinion that she didn't really love the emperor. She was loyal to him as her husband, yes. But love? No.

Ever since I watched Nirvana in Fire, my tolerance toward rom com and too fluffy drama has gone down considerately, hahahaha. For the exchange, I am hungry for heavy drama with real plot.

I didn't like Yanxi Palace, hate the female lead (many others think otherwise though). Maiden Holmes, I've only watched clips. I find the acting lacking compared with L&R so it still on my future watchlist only for now.

Even before her mind understand, her heart already knows what she wants.

He has a little brother, though still weak and bring nothing but trouble currently.

Truth to be told, even though I am a lover of heavy drama (Nirvana in Fire is my favorite), if not for Cheng Yi, I will stay away from this drama. I have watched quite a lot of palace drama these years. And all female lead that has lover aside from her husband always ended up annoyed me so much. Because she will most likely choose her son and then "throw" away her lover or take him for granted. On the other hand, the male lead usually really loyal to his heart and if he ever married, will be very cold to his wife even to the point refuses to do any intercourse (based on the trailer, this is most likely what Cheng Xu will do).

In this drama though, I am curious on how the male lead develops. Also I like Cheng Yi acting very much. So I will endure the annoying female lead just to watch Cheng Xu and his military and politic stratagem. Lastly, in this kind of drama, male lead dying is the best ending for me. Because it is the greatest "punishment" that male lead could do to the female lead.

The King is the bad guy. He snatched the throne from ML and contributed on forcing the ML mother to suicide. However, the one that wanted to kill the ML currently was the other brothers (the two brothers that always beside the King, forgot their name).

Dunno. But in the summary above, it is stated that she will have a son from the king. I cannot think any plot twist that will make he would be ML son. The ML here is very gentleman and the FL is a princess. There is no way they will do sex before marriage

Anyway for a woman who has become a mother, their priority in live will be more or less shifted to her child. Now let see how the drama depicts this. I have epiphany that I will hate the FL character later on. Perhaps Cheng Xu death is the best ending. It would be the greatest punishment for the FL in a way. And by death, he will be released from all his pain. I don't wish for him to have anything to do with his 3rd brother, his wife, and his son. All of them only give Cheng Xu more pain.

Just started last nigh. So far so good. If you like palace drama with all of its harem and politic, then you might want to try this one.

Episode 4 is nothing compared with episode 9-11 .....
But, you will be able to appreciate Cheng Yi acting in those episodes. I say he exudes more pain in that 3 episodes than in L&R.

I watched from Kissassian. By the time I am writing this, they have uploaded until episode 12.

In my opinion, it was not she held back but she acted reserved. Because this is a Palace drama and she acted as a princess. There is etiquette that she must follow even though they love each other.

Starting from episode 10, she and Cheng Yi mainly acted with their eyes. So far, I see that she is able to produce the sad nuance that very much complement the one exuded by Cheng Yi. I haven't felt annoyed (like the one I have felt when I watched L&R) when I watched them acted in angst scene either alone or together.

Watched until episode 11. Will continue later on since this already past midnight in my timezone. First impression:
1. The introduction part is so fast pace. I haven't got my feel with their parents death and we already moved to the next arc.

2. The drama give me Nirvana in Fire vibe. Cheng Xiu here is reminded me of young Lin Shu and Xiao Ping Jing. I think Cheng Xiu will get much better in military later on.

3. Cheng Yi acting amazed me again. Wow, in angst moment episode 10-11, his anguish was so heartwrenching. His crying while drinking wine in the beginning of episode 11 is ..... (I have no word). He really didn't afraid of crying ugly there.

4. Female lead acting is satisfying this far. So far she successfully showed the complicated feeling felt by Ming Yu. I hope I would not end up hating her character later on. Her story reminded me The Story of Yanxi Palace (I was annoyed with the female lead character there).

5. The King really need to die soon. I hope his guilt will eat him up, along with that wife of his.

6. I dread the moment when the female lead get pregnant. Sigh, if I was her, the first thing I will do is drinking poison to ensure my womb is sterile. She should have known that her current husband is a suspect in killing her lover mother. Bearing a child to such a man should made her feel disgusted.

Oh? I honestly think the female lead did a very good job here. I have watched up to episode 10 and her expression was very good. I felt her pain when she had to proceed with the marriage.

Not necessarily. Bai Lin could get that position by merit instead, or power. Xi Xuan perhaps is the successor for the heavenly emperor sit. But with heaven prejudice toward demon, he most likely is ostracized while in heaven so he mainly kept to himself. GOW perhaps his first and only friend in heaven.

Well, if the story is to be continued, pretty sure he would be the successor after his 10th live as mortal. He single-handedly cleaned after the esteemed Bai Lin Di Jun mess, bringing up peace in 3 realms in the end by appeasing the anger of both GOW and LHJD. Don't think there is a greater merit than that.

Also, I have suspicion that the heavenly emperor in a way let everything happen to teach the heaveners too, to let go their prejudice towards demon by showing that their own kind (Bai Lin) could act much worse that those of demon. After Bai Lin death, the heavenly emperor more or less let out an order to prevent any heaveners kill demon indiscriminately.

Xi Xuan is indeed the son. But I doubt Bai Lin. There was not even one comment from heavenly emperor or others that showed that Bai Lin had some relationship with the heavenly emperor.

I even has the feeling that Xi Xuan is the only living kin of heavenly emperor.

Yes, this is plausible. I somehow feel Xi Xuan is somewhat a reclusive when in heaven. So people don't know him. But luckily, unlike Run Yu, his father seems to be quite doted on him.

By the way I cannot find the scenes when Bai Lin said that Xi Xuan mother treated badly in heaven ....

It is Si Feng father for me. His love to his son was very touching.
