Parallel World from the Future
On Parasyte: The Grey Apr 9, 2024
If you're confused, or comparing “Parasyte: The Grey” with the original, you should not. “Parasyte: The Grey”, as far as the hints they dropped in multiple episodes, is set in the same universe as the original Parasyte.

In other words, this is not your regular adaptation, it is a spin-off. It is called a “shared world”.

“Parasyte: The Grey” is set in Korea and tells the story of what happened when Parasytes landed in Korea. This is why there are a lot of differences, it is not an adaptation, it tells a parallel story. There are also similarities, and that can be easily explained as the world governments sharing information; as well as, humanity today thinks similarly, so we end up doing the same things even without direct contact.

Don't dismiss “Parasyte: The Grey” just because, otherwise, you're going to miss a greatly written live-action TV spin-off of the franchise. Again, based on the hints dropped in multiple episodes, this Korean spin-off exists in the same universe as the original material. It is, however, unclear if they directly based on the manga (the original), or the recent two-part Japanese movie adaptation.

If you're going to ask me, I think “Parasyte: The Grey” is closer to the two-part Japanese movie adaptation than the original manga and anime adaptation. But, that's not important. The important thing is, for the 3rd or 4th time, as per the hints, this series exists in the same universe as the Japanese story.

I changed my mind. I think DaMi is still alive. The title of Season 02 is “Resurrection”.
a. They showed us very early that DaMi is actually dead. That was what is called misdirection. They set us up very early that DaMi is officially dead, only to surprise us near the end that she's actually alive.

b. How come there was a video of that water well scene? What if, after they shot that scene, someone saved DaMi without Matthew's knowledge?

c. Who can possibly fund SAVE? DaMi's grandfather. Either he was also still alive; or he already had other plans in motion, that no one else but him was aware of.

d. Who can possibly develop a security that is far better than LUCA? DaMi's adoptive father. What if while he was on the island, he was also secretly developing SAVE?

It is also possible that he is alive as well (not the mask version). He probably used the tower incident as misdirection. Or, someone saved him.

e. SAVE is strictly about facts and uncovering and exposing facts.

Who was the #1 victim of fake news? DaMi.

Who could have setup the idea of SAVE? There are only three potential people with such a very strong desire to fight back:
1. DaMi
2. Adoptive father
3. Grandfather

What if one of those three are still alive and the real person behind SAVE?

SAVE got funds from the grandfather. SAVE technology was actually developed by adoptive father. The real CEO is DaMi.

The current face of SAVE is also very suspicious. He has a deep interest in the people involved; and he already knew who were the players he needs to target. If he was just a jealous guy because of MoNa, why bother with everyone else?

For a jealous guy, he is far too careful and calculating; and it's too obvious he's targeting the suspects related DaMi. Is someone behind him with a deep interest in the DaMi case?

Could it be the grandfather? The adoptive father? Or, DaMi herself?

His moves to marry MoNa were also very calculative. He was a bit shaken when MoNa revealed the entire truth about her life. He already had an image of MoNa as an evil bitch, and suddenly, that was broken.

Maybe he discussed with whoever is behind him? Maybe to grandpa, papa, or DaMi?

After a few weeks, or months, they finally got married. It really smells of calculation. Because Matthew showed no one can outwit him, and he's ready to go back to killing again, everyone else who wants Matthew dead have to up their game.

Getting married to MoNa is helpful for the SAVE team. A good way to get inside Matthew's circle and tech without him getting suspicious. At the same time, SAVE more likely is aware that Matthew wants his security technology.

Not to mention, SAVE probably realised they can now cultivate MoNa to be their secret tool. They'll keep MoNa unaware they are fueling her hatred, because, it is well known MoNa can't be trusted if she gets cornered. So, yeah, that marriage is no doubt a calculative move from by SAVE.

Which only brings back to, why. For a jealous guy, he's doing all these calculations and misdirections just to get MoNa?

There is definitely someone behind SAVE. Someone who is more invested in the digging the truth and exposing the truth. Someone who was a victim of fake news. Someone with the deepest grudge against Matthew but knows full well Matthew is no easy target.

There's only one person that truly fits that bill: DaMi.

That's why it's called “The Escape of the Seven: RESURRECTION”. Because the final reveal will be, DaMi is alive.

That's the most evil revenge I've ever seen. It cannot even be compared with any revenge novels.I wouldn't be…
The only thing that was good was, she changed her mind in the end when the mother woke up for a few seconds.

Good thing for her, it was her only saving grace in that moment.

Yet imagine if Mone's mother did not wake up. She will push through with it.

The one glaring problem with long dramas is they tend to be replete with stupid characters, in an effort to pad…
Family dramas are “long”. Actually, this one is already short for a family drama. ;) That's 30 minutes per episode. Or, 60 episodes if each is 1 hour each.

I really want to like this drama but 120 episodes wow. The step sister and mother what a pair. I hope this isn't…
It's 30 minutes per episode. So 120 is only 60 technically.

And for a family drama, it's already short. ^_~

Anyone got a relationship chart? I'm not confused. LOL.

1. Su Ji is half-sister to the other doctor and her stylist, possibly from the union of her mother and the guy from the cleaning scene?
2. Su Ji is also half-sister to her adoptive family, the second family of her father.
3. If #2 is correct, then her “adoptive” father is actually her biological father?

What makes it confusing was that:
a. Her mother was preparing Su Ji's brithday food when she had an argument with Su Ji's grandmother.
b. Her mother told her grandmother that she's going to leave Su Ji in her care for two weeks while she work.
c. However, next scene was, Su Ji ran from a house looking for her mother. With the mother hiding and watching her. BUT, was it not the house of the restaurant she was left and later adopted? The one she's living with now?

d. So, what happened to Su Ji's birthday food her mother was preparing? What happened to Su Ji's mother telling her mom to take care of Su Ji?

e. Does it mean the grandmother in Su Ji's “adoptive” family is actually her biological grandmother?

f. And the grandmother Su Ji's mother is living with currently is the mother of that cleaning guy she was with when she fell and almost died?

OMG. How much were all the camping gears HyoYeon and Sunny brought in #NoWayHome (#노웨이홈) E01? HyoYeon also brought a fireproof cloth to protect the grass and avoid an accidental grass/forest fire. First time I saw one.

Some said this story was based on a real life couple. If it's true, then it's pretty much useless to make theories. The fiction parts are more likely just the little details. But the way to characters make decisions were based on real life decisions they made.

OMG! She regressed! That is so very sad and painful. Esepically since he still loves her. He only wants a divorce to get away from her toxicity.

¡¡¡SPOILER ALERT!!!¡¡¡SPOILER ALERT!!!¡¡¡SPOILER ALERT!!!
I love where they are going with this. But before that, feedback on DaMi case.

a. They finally sealed that DaMi is dead.
b. They did justice through her mom.

Now, where are they going with this based on S02E01?

1. One-by-one, each of the characters are set on revenge.
2. Each also have a different reason. It is personal.
3. Because the revenge is personal, they are actually going to clash against each other.
4. Because of it, the main antagonist might actually win again in the end.
5. It is highly unlikely that they will reveal their personal revenge plans. They no longer trust each other. They were hurt by betrayals.

#5 is good because it is with compartmentalisation that they can prevent K from hearing about anything. The fewer people in your revenge plan, the less chance of anyone betraying you.

6. This is a far more interesting setup. Imagine playing a chess with 7 players.

Or, playing Game of the Generals with 7 players.

Or, imagine a world war where there are 7 major factions.

And NONE of those 7 made any deal to help each other.
And some of those secretly helps the other faction; and secretly use information from those other factions for their own benefit.
But at the same time, they don't consider themselves an ally.

They all have the same enemy, but they also are targeting each other, and secretly using each other.

That's going to be challenging to write. You'll have to track the 7 factions and write a compelling story why each of them are doing this and that.

In fact, I already noticed one mistake. If you're going to amputate someone, you put something on their mouth to bite. It has multiple purpose:
a. To prevent them from accidentally biting their tongue.
b. To lessen the pain, because part of their senses and brain is going to focus on it.
c. Protect their teeth.
d. Protect their jaw.

When we are in extreme pain, our natural reaction is to bite hard. Shouting can only do so much, and an uncontrolled shout forces our jaw to open far too wide, which is a very bad idea. Thus, biting is the best way to prevent any unwanted injuries.

For some reason, Ms. Repentant Mother endured it all without biting on something. There were even scenes with her mouth closed, a miracle her teeth are still intact, her gums didn't bleed, and she didn't bite her tongue. She's the perfect human being!

Anyway, those kinds of mistakes are forgivable, and I expect more in the rest of the season. Why? If what they've shown us in episode 01 (as explained above) this story is not an easy one. 7 factions; and obviously, some of them are willing to kiss the feet of K to get what they want, be it revenge or whatever.

Chung Ah Lee, I miss you so much. Finally, the last week.
Yep!

But dang, I have second thoughts on this one. I can't slot in another melodrama, I already have a couple and it's going to be too much. I already dropped Wonderful World last week, can't take it anymore. 🤣🤣🤣 And I don't have enough light and comedy on my plate now to balance it out. Not even Samurai qualifies as a balancer, it's dramatic too. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Glad to see they're learning to write stories with potential for a new season. It doesn't have to 5 to 7 to 9 seasons, like in the West. 2 to 3 is more than enough.
