The title should've been "The Military Uprisings in Goryeo". Uprising 1 and Uprising 2.

Well, I guess that's because it's based on a novel, the focus is different.

My answer:A1: This one is so hard to guess. Female-EunHo is struggling between retaining his identity as a man…
In a way, yes, gender identity.

Though I see it more as not accepting one's (new) reality.

---

Just to expound, since I like this topic.

I'm straight male. But if I get body swapped with a woman, I'll live as a woman. If there's a technology to transfer to a new body, I'll definitely choose a biological woman's body as my next body, and live as a woman for my next lifespan. Depending on my experience, I'll more likely extend it to 5 more lifespans.

I'm a straight guy, but I have a deep desire about anything beautiful and pretty, like dresses. I even crossed-dressed once. ;)

It's why the way I see it is not so much related to one's gender preference and identity, it's more on not accepting one's reality.

To put it another way, most people think "pink" is "girly" and if a man wears pink, they're gay. I strongly disagree. A man can find fink attractive not because of their gender preference and identity, rather, because it is their reality. That reality is, their brain is wired towards pink. The problem is, society wants us to believe otherwise.

It's the same with LGBTQ, they simply accepted their reality. It's not exactly about gender, it's reality. It's "This Is Me".

So, like me, people find me weird because I challenge the norms, and they can't "label" me properly. (People loves to put labels these days, which generally results in further discrimination.)

I'm:
* Straight guy.
* Loves pink and blue (more on pink).
* Loves everything beautiful and pretty.
* Loves dresses.
* I side with women far more than men, that some men accuses me of being a traitor.
* And as I've said earlier, I'll pick a woman's body as my next life/lifespan if given a chance to choose, even if I will retain my memories as a man.

I'm an alien! 🤣

that theory would be problamatic since it implies that behaving like a woman must mean being submissive and cute,…
To add to that, in fiction, it's also called as a trope. And in body swap genres, there are tropes that writers often follow. Now because they are discriminatory "women are these, and men are that", rather, that's what is currently known to work with audiences, especially their target audience.

We can't deny that is what society has been since the beginning of humanity. It is only recently that things started so change, and there are still many cultures like that.

So, to properly analyze a show, you have to think from their culture and perspective, and what is generally what society dictates.

If we ignore that, and try to frame it in our "changed" perspective, we wouldn't appreciate and/or understand the story of the author.

Indeed! What if the reason behind why they're comfortable with their new bodies was that, it was their original body in the first place?

Ahh. I finally realised what it was that they did differently.

In most body swap stories, the “male body” with a woman's consciousness/spirit still acts as a woman. While the “female body” acts macho.

In this show, Female-EunHo is acting like he's been a woman all his life; while Male-NaEon is acting as if she's been a man her entire life.

They skipped the entire “do not touch my body” “but I already did” “Nooo, pervert!” and all that, and made them just accept their situation and live as a real man and woman.

It does look like @Outbound's theory is correct.

A fun poll.Q1: Is Female-EunHo going to kiss the 2ML?Q2: Is Male-NaEon going to kiss the 2FL?Q3: Should they switch…
My answer:
A1: This one is so hard to guess. Female-EunHo is struggling between retaining his identity as a man and living as a woman. Female-EunHo sure is showing a lot of signs he is adjusting to life as a woman.

And his love with his handsome body and face is overlapping with himself being a woman, to the point that, for sure, it is already confusing him.

A2: I'll be surprised if Male-NaEon won't kiss the 2FL. For one, she is hell-bent on finding out who tried to kill her, so she will do anything to get what she wants. She even conquered her first shock being in a man's body, very fast, and used it to her advantage.

So I think Male-NaEon will kiss the 2FL. Not because she's attracted to her, rather, to find out who wants to take her out.

However, I think she will start to change her mind on returning to her body.

For example, she no longer has to live with that ghostly shadow, whatever it is. It's no longer her problem. She now knows that the ghostly shadow is attached to her original body, not to her consciousness/spirit.

And of course, the benefits of being a man in the Korean culture, made it easier for her to do things

A3: No. I don't want them to switch back. I want to see where and how they're going to explore body swap.

They already showed us a lot, like how they easily accepted their predicament; and how Female-EunHo is firing up his neurons in understanding sexuality and being a woman, and is starting to appear to be embracing his new reality.

It is rare to see these things explored. There are a lot of ways they can go to. For example, if they choose to make them permanent swap and Female-EunHo falls in love with 2ML, they will have to explain how and why. I already have an idea, though. :p

Think of it this way, if you were in their shoes, would your mere consciousness be enough to hold on to your previous gender identity? Or, are you eventually going to give in to your new body's hormones, neural pathways, sexual nerves?

Like Female-EunHo. In that car scene, he's probably feeling everything biologically female firing up while thinking, “I'm a man!” I'm not a woman, so I can't explain it, but I think women can understand it well. Your heart starts to race. You start to feel tingling sensations everywhere. Your insides are firing up. Your mind is telling you a thousand things why you should and should not. But the guy's so attractive in some way or another, even if they're not that handsome. Just one kiss. That's all. One kiss and I'll stop.

A fun poll.

Q1: Is Female-EunHo going to kiss the 2ML?

Q2: Is Male-NaEon going to kiss the 2FL?

Q3: Should they switch back, or do you want them to stay as-is?

Exactly!

He nailed his LGBTQ character. I don't know if he is LGBTQ in real-life, but he sure brought the real deal on screen, despite it being still controversial in their culture.

Even the sex toys episodes. That was surprising. This show is surely breaking the taboos of Korea.

Oouch your 3rd statement hurts
Hahaha. The truth hurts. ^_~

For example, studies (years and years ago, I don't know today) have shown that when it comes to suicide, women are braver than men. When women commits suicide, it's a done deal. However, men will leave the door open to make sure someone will find them and rescue them.

In break-ups. Women are more brave when it comes to breaking-up, regardless of how much they love the person. They will call it quits if it's no longer beneficial, or if it is already toxic. But men? They'll keep holding on because the pain is just too much. It wasn't exactly ego or masculinity, although that's often what many assume, actually it's the pain. Women can see their life without a man; and men cannot imagine a life with the girl they love.

And well, giving birth. They grew up their entire life not knowing the pain, and secretly thinking how painful it could be. Yet they go through it. Not to mention, the 9 months process, the changes, and everything.

I think the show also showed it when the ML in the FL's body complained so much about her monthly period. That's just the one of many, and the ML in the FL's body was already complaining.

While at the same time, we haven't seen the FL in the ML's body complaining. Instead, she liked her newfound “freedom” being in a man's body.

Because she's upset that gets punishment by supervisor.
Not really. She's been doing that since the very beginning, she should have learned already her lesson. If what you're saying is the reason, then the FL is acting like a kid for letting herself "upset" over something that already sailed a long time ago. A mature individual, especially in her profession, wouldn't let their personal emotions hamper their ability to get the job done.

3 things:

1. They skipped the obvious body swap reaction “don't touch my body”, etc. But they had two episodes about sex toys. Hahaha.

2. While they made it appear that ML in FL's body unleashed his inner femininity, they still showed how he is not into kissing men, typical of men.

3. At the same, FL in ML's body is daring and doesn't care kissing women. They showed her masculinity. Ironically, which is true. Women are actually strong and daring when it comes to a lot of things men either hates or pretend to be strong.

It's a nice play on gender taboos and sensitivities. The two characters simply opened up and accepted their predicament, but at the same, they still show their original gender-body “upbringing” and stereotypes.

I definitely do not want them to switch back, for the sole reason that I want to see how they are going to handle it.

Is ML on FL's body going to go all out and embrace being a woman?

Is FL in ML's body will still want to return after experiencing the benefits of being a man in Korean culture?

Bring it on!
