It saddens me, and is making me angry, that people are dismissing real life challenges, discrimination, prejudices, stigma in this advocacy show as nothing but "clichés".
Good for you that you were not born autistic, otherwise, you wouldn't see these things as "clichés" in an advocacy show.
Ironically, these reactions just proved the whole point of the show: discrimination, prejudice, and stigma.
No like what happened to this drama? Why? Why are they going to all the routes I dislike?? Huh??First of all,…
You're forgetting that this is not a fantasy drama. It is an advocacy show thus it will depict what actually happens in real life.
Like it or not, family members, even non-family members, do see a relationship with autistics as "taking care of us". In fact, there are accounts here in MDL leaving such nasty comments like how we autistics should be left in an island; or should not get into a relationship.
These are the things EAW is exposing. Real life discrimination, prejudice, and stigma about autism and against us autistics.

Also, re: break up. I left a comment in another thread that I expect them to break up and later come back together. The break up is needed because it is what happens in real life when us autistics get into a relationship with neurotypicals.
There was also a thread which talked about him coughing blood. We even shared the possible causes. It's obviously serious, why you assumed it was a joke is beyond me.
Also, family drama over the relationship really fits into this one. But I'm just too tired of the family making…

I'm missing the "psychiatrist" in the show. All they're doing is solving cases. As it currently stands, it's just another take on shows like "Secret Royal Inspector & Joy".
the better thing to do is to change nothing. all they need to know is the true, what's the problem with living…
Yeah. It's amazing how each country sees things differently and it's reflected in the existing laws.
There are things I like in Africa too. I can't remember which African nation but there's one wherein children can choose the name they want at a later age without restrictions.
That makes perfect sense, our name is our identity. We should be able to choose our first name, middle name, and last name.
I learned it from my elementary classmates, they have different names (first, middle, last) and it's different from their parents too. They said it's their culture to be given a chance to choose your own name, and majority chooses their own name.
Here in the Philippines, while we do not have that culture, pre-colonial era, we never had last/surnames. We used either just a first name or "son/daughter of". When the Spaniards arrived they introduced surnames … and turns out it was primarily for taxation purposes because they can not understand how pre-colonial local governments were "taxing" the people.
if you don’t have any knowledge about it, refrain from replying

Also, the target audience and cultural basis is Korea. The situation there, as far as what I've read, is not really good when it comes to autism and neurodiversity in general. As compared to other countries where the issues are different or more focused.
However, personally, as far as drama/films are concerned this is one of the few productions who were careful in how they portrayed an autistic. I rank it similarly to shows like "Adam" and "X + Y", to mention two.
I don't think this comes from the western culture because here in France I do know some married cousins... and…
Maybe not entire Western world but when you're Asian, in particular Asia-Pacific, anything from the West is simply Western. Just like how the West calls the anything Far East as Oriental or Americans call anything Asia-Pacific as China. ^_^
EDIT: To add, even though Australia and New Zealand is generally "Western World", they're not considered as one if you're from Asia-Pacific. Hahaha. (Some would even include Israel and Turkey in the label.)

> anybody can take any child as his/her own child.
This is not legally allowed in Western and most Asian countries. Yes, there are adoptions that doesn't go through the legal process but it's risky. In some countries the adoptive parents can even get a criminal record and the child will be taken by the government. In some countries, authorities are not strict unless they're forced or something happened that forced them to implement the law.
> when done, the child is considered a REEL member of the family, from heirloom to rights.
This depends on the laws, and in the absence of any specific law or there's ambiguity, the court will decide.
Here in the Philippines, adopted children can only inherit anything if (1) they are formally adopted (legally registered); or (2) named specifically in the Will (if there is one). In the absence of both … they are not legally qualified to receive inheritance, it will go to the nearest relative legally recognized by law.
> it's not like you need a child so you adopt one
There are people who need a child so they adopt one. This is usually common with couples who find it hard to have a child.

Let's say it is psychiatric autopsy:
1. What is "psychiatric autopsy"?
2. What did Poong do that is "psychiatric autopsy" vs. "ordinary autopsy to help their investigation"?

Indeed, it was not Bu Yeon's energy seeping out, she did it intentionally!

But don't give up, just 12 episodes left. ^_^
