Lol i have one more question. Why Kim Manok had 13% matched DNA with Ghost? If the existence of Kim Manok just…
As for the "layers", very good question! I thought no one noticed that. Hehe.

(Warning, this is long and touching on Science already. ^_^ If it is not easy to understand, don't force it. It's fine if you don't, it can wreak your brain if you force to understand it … seriously.)

It can be loosely translated into "parallel universe" or "other dimensions", however, it doesn't entirely fit the "time doesn't flow" the show revealed (twice at that). A more fitting is indeed "layers", another is "[other] realities". The one I came up with back in the mid-90s is "planes of existence".

In the Block Universe and Growing Block Universe theories, a reality, or the universe, is viewed as one giant block.

- Think of a cube. That cube is the entirety of reality or universe.
- Add dots from Point A to Point B in horizontally until you fill the cube.
- Now if you look at the cube, you have a line of dots horizontally ("width" or "Y axis"), vertically ("height" or "Z axis"), and across ("length" or "X axis").
- The X axis is the "length" of the cube. In "space dimension", it means moving forward and backward.
- The Y axis is the "width" of the cube. In "space dimension", it means moving left and right.
- The Z axis is the "height" of the cube. In "space dimension", it means moving up and down.

If we apply that concept in the "time dimension", what does it mean?

- The "X axis" or "length of the cube" in "time dimension" means moving forward (or backward) in time.
- The "Y axis" or the "width of the cube" in "time dimension" means moving left and right in time.
- The "Z axis" or the "height of the cube" in "time dimension" means moving up and down in time.

This gets very hard at this point. Not even me can fully fathom this, and I've been working on this since the mid-90s.

- The "X axis" is very easy to understand: moving forward (or backward) in time simply means going to the "future" or the "past".

- The "Y axis" is what we usually call "timelines". This is why "alternate/parallel timelines" and "alternate/parallel universes" are one and the same according to Albert Einstein and Quantum Physics.

- But what is the "Z axis"? What does it mean to move "up and down" in time? In the "space dimension", moving "up and down" is like going to the rooftop and ground floor. We moved up and we moved down in "space". How do we apply it in "time"?

Frankly, I have no idea. I've been trying to solve this since the mid-90s and I haven't seen a theory, or a fiction, about it either.

However, this is what the show called "layers", or as I personally call "planes of existence".

In the "space dimension", a layer or a plane of existence can be best explained by what we see "glimpses of".

- You and me, we exist in our own layer or plane of existence.
- Paradise exist on a layer on top of our own.
- Damnation exist on a layer below our own.
- There are sightings about seeing ghosts/souls. What they are seeing are glimpses of those souls who are on another layer. They are moving around us, we just normally do not see them, we only see glimpses.

That's how a "layer" or "plane of existence" is explained in the "space dimension".

How this is applied in the "time dimension" is, currently, impossible to explain. It just is because as per Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity, and all other "Static Theory of Spacetime" (like the Block Universe and the Growing Block Universe theories), posits that space and time are "one and the same" as "spacetime". Even in quantum physics, spacetime is inseparable.

Since "space" has an X,Y,Z axes, if spacetime is inseparable, then time also have an X,Y,Z, axes. Those who doesn't believe in it considers time as a 4th dimension separate from space dimension (X,Y,Z) and they usually write it as "space and time".

Again, a fair warning: do not force to understand it. Our brain does need training to understand complex things, it's like going to school. If we force to understand something, it does cause damages in our brain, and if we don't take a break from it and let our brain relax and heal … well … there are historical records of it people dying or ending up in mental institutions. I myself almost ended up that way.

You can save it, look at it 5 years from now, and you'll have a fresh set of eyes. Even expert theorists do that, they take a break and tackle the scientific problem at a later date.

Lol i have one more question. Why Kim Manok had 13% matched DNA with Ghost? If the existence of Kim Manok just…
Yep, that is correct. The writer and director were ingenious in leading us to assume this way but in reality it's the other way. We should've realized that the 13% can be a distant relative of Man Ok but the way they wrote the script kept that other explanation away from our minds. Even Saek Byeok understood it similarly the way we did.

There are options to explain it but there is only one canon basis for it: Saek Byeok realizing herself that "time doesn't flow". So, even if she killed Man Ok, she only killed one version. There are still other Man Ok's out there.

The third option is, Man Ok already have a son that was not revealed.

Both the second and third options are weak, especially when we consider the 13% DNA match. It's too low for Man Ok to be the direct ancestor of the Ghost. Based on that, and how the Ghost did not disappear after Man Ok was shot, a distant relative of his is the most plausible explanation.

There won't be a season 2, the ending is perfect. The story ended.I'm not saying it is not possible, but as far…
Yep. The story is from the perspective of the main male character. From that vantage point, the story ended as it should.

About the ending, there are at least two reasons why there are confusions and mix reactions. However, the best is to just watch it and ask questions about it afterwards.

I've been answering the questions here in MDL and in other communities. So, if you decide to watch the show and have questions later, just tag me or something.

I'm also writing an "Explained" article, I'll more like have it published no later than this coming weekend.

Exactly! It is like reading a book, everything are interconnected. Compared to other shows where you often feel watching 2 shows at the same time, in Crazy Love, you are watching 1 show.

Review Grid Spoiler
Q1. A woman from the future created the grid to protect the earth from extremesolar radiation. What did they do? Of course, try to catch her like shes a suspect. Put her in a lab and poke at her just because its fun. Why? Arent the people in the know, supposed to be thankful to her for saving the planet?

A: They explained that it was because the government wants their time travel technology. In one episode they even revealed that they already have a prototype but untested and probably not working yet.

Also, as far as the people in AB are concerned, time is linear. Since the Grid was already installed from their vantage point (remember, as per Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity, time is relative), the business with the Founder/Ghost is done and over, the grid was installed so yeah, they can catch the Founder/Ghost.

Third, the AB doesn't know that the Founder and Ghost are one and the same. They want to catch the Ghost for murder, they are not looking for the Founder.

Q2. The time travelling bit is just a hit and miss, and follows absolutely no rule at all. In episode 7 and 8 Sae Ha's journey to the timeline cannot be explained in paper but i still liked it upto that part. Their mantra is time doesnt flow, and so the sense it seems.

A: Not really. The rules are there, it just is not easy to understand. The first clue is, as you already mentioned, "time doesn't flow". Again, that is what Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity; as well as, Block Universe Theory of Spacetime is all about. These, any many similar real-world theories, are collectively called the "Static Theory of Spacetime".

So, yeah, there are "rules" and it is not "hit and miss". Most especially, it can be explained in paper since the show was based on real-world theories about time.

Q3. Did they imply Sae Byeok was raped by Ma Nok? When and how did that happen? Was Ma Nok related to Eo Jin? How did the Ghost became related to both of them?

A: They did not imply anything. In fact, in episode 10, they did explain it.

When Man Ok died, the Ghost did not disappear. It means that Man Ok is not a direct ancestor of the Ghost. The Ghost, on her mother's side, is the granddaughter of Sae Byeok. The Ghost, on her father's side, is a distant relative of Man Ok (hence the 13% DNA match). Her relation to Man Ok is not vertical rather it is horizontal. Man Ok's distant relative … cousin of cousin thrice or more removed happens to be the Ghost's line on her father side.

Man Ok and Eo Jin are not related. In one of the previous episode, the scientists who explained the DNA relations say that Man Ok is distantly related to the Ghost by 13% DNA on her father's side.

I hope that clarifies it. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

Lol i have one more question. Why Kim Manok had 13% matched DNA with Ghost? If the existence of Kim Manok just…
Q: If the Ghost is not descendant from Man Ok's line, then his death would not affect her existence right?

A: That is correct. At least in episode 10, after Man Ok was killed, the Ghost did not disappear. It can only mean one thing, Man Ok is not the Ghost's direct ancestor … only a distant relative (i.e. 13% DNA match).

Q: If as you mentioned Man Ok's existence is to kill Sae Ha, what is Sae Ha's relation to the Ghost or the Grid that he must die in order for these two to exist?

A: Sae Ha's death triggered a lot of events which eventually led to the reality the Ghost came from, and herself and her mother being born.

1. After Sae Ha was killed, and them witnessing there are more than one (I counted 7) time travelers, suddenly the department of Seon Wool became very important.

If Sae Ha was not killed by Man Ok, they would not realise there more time travelers. Which in turn also convinced the powers-that-be that Seon Wool's department is very, very, very important.

2. Because Sae Ha died, Sae Byeok and Eo Jin had a romantic evening … a year later (in 2022), her daughter Byeori was born. (The mother of the Ghost.)

If Sae ha did not die, Sae Byeok and Eo Jin would not have a romantic evening. Without it, Byeori (the mother of the Ghost) wouldn't be born.

-- Combining it all:
1. Sae Ha's father must die, otherwise, he will just delete the code or shutdown the Grid program (for whatever reason, probably thinking "compromised").

2. Man Ok must witness his father murdered for him to lose his mind.

3. Man Ok must survive and on the run so he can kill Sae Ha

4. Sae Ha must die so Seon Wool she gets more authority and personnel for her department.

5. Sae Ha must die so Sae Byeok and Eo Jin will have a romantic evening. (not really romantic but you get the idea) so Byeori will be born.

Bonus:
If we assume the Ghost's age is the same as the actress's, then in 2091 she's 40, she would have been born in 2051. Byeori was born in 2022 so she's 29 years old in 2051.

It would also explain why Sae Byeok's DNA is a perfect match for the Ghost's mother side, she's her grandmother.

Byeori probably got married with some distant relative of Man Ok, which would explain the 13% DNA match with the Ghost (and matching with the father side is less accurate the bigger the generation gap between the two subjects tested).

Lol i have one more question. Why Kim Manok had 13% matched DNA with Ghost? If the existence of Kim Manok just…
A very good question!

The answer is … no one knows.

According to the scientist, it's 13% because of the possibility of generation gaps. They might be distant relatives.

Initially, we understood it as somehow a descendant down the line. Maybe Sae Byeok's daughter married a descendant of Man Ok. However, as how episode 10 ended, it would appear that the 13% was indeed as the scientist explained, a gap in generations … horizontal instead of vertical.

Sae Byeok's daughter probably married a distant relative of Man Ok, which would explain the 13% on the Ghost's father side, while there is no doubt about Sae Byeok (Ghost's mother side).

Do you think disney will give us season 2?
It will depend on a lot of factors.

If Disney likes the feedback, the ratings, or it exceeded their expectation in sales, then they probably will order a sequel.

Or, if the writer and/or director pitches a sequel, and they convinced Disney to give them the 'go', then yep, season 2.

As far as the funding/budget is concerned, in this case Disney, it will more likely depend on the feedback, ratings, and sales (if they received more subscriptions because of it).

Either way, season 2 or not, they made Season 1 standalone. If it gets a sequel, there are multiple stories they can choose to tell. If it doesn't get a sequel, season 1 is standalone, the story of Sae Ha ended.

1. How did Saeha come back alive?2. Sae Byoek's daughter is the ghost's mom? 3. The ghost kept Kim Ma Nok alive…
That is the common practice in the industry. If the first season (or Part 1 in case of movies) went beyond their predictions, they can order sequel.

The second option is, if the screenwriter and/or director pitch in a very good sequel and convinces the 'funders' or Copyright Rightsholder (in this case Disney), then they greenlit the sequel.

Third is, if the project was pitched in with long-term commitment. For example, Star Trek: Picard was pitched to CBS with a fix 3 seasons even before they dropped hints about a new ST show.

If those with the money orders a sequel, the writer and director will most definitely work on it, after all, it's a go.

However, when it comes to Korean shows, multi-season stories are not a thing. When Korean writers and directors do a project, it is almost always for one season only then they work on a new project … so there's that other factor -- Korean tradition.

But, again, if Disney orders a sequel because the first season exceeded their expectations, for sure the writer and/or director will prepare for it.

Eo Jin answered "You told me" when she asked where did he get the daughter name. How did it happen?
Q: Eo Jin answered "You told me" when she asked where did he get the daughter name. How did it happen?
A: There's a time traveler version of Sae Byeok who contacted Eo Jin of 2022 to pick her, and her daughter, before the other group/faction gets to them.

It is safe to say that in another version of reality, they were kidnapped or killed, so to stop that, a version of Sae Byeok contacted Eo Jin of 2022.

Q.1: What are the identity of Lee Ki Hong and Yoo Jae Myung characters? Is it like international Ghost team from the future who created Grid technology??
A: We'll never know that, and I don't believe it is important. That scene was intended to reveal that there are groups who are either pro or against the Grid. The message there was there is a much larger scheme at play.

Q.2: I think SaeHa at the end is our SaeHa, not the one from parallel universe. Why did he fake the death?
A:

a. The Sae Ha in the 2022 scene is a different version.
b. To clarify, there is no "branch timeline" and no "parallel universe" in the story.
c. Sae Ha did not fake his death. He can not do that, also, he needs to die.

Q.3: Eo Jin might not be the father?
A: Maybe, maybe not. But as far as the scenes are concerned, Eo Jin and Sae Byeok did get intimate that night. Since they're divorced, and Sae Byeok was reassigned, Eo Jin probably had no idea. It is possible he only learned of the baby that moment when he showed up in Sae Byeok's home.

Thanks Shael. Believe male viewers understand this complexity much better!
Q: What exact purpose did Kim Manok serve?
A: To kill Sae Ha

Q: If Grid wasn't created and millions of earthlings were killed, then how on earth did Ghost come about?
A: The show is based on the real-world theory called "Block Universe". In the "Block Universe Theory of Time", all possibilities of the "past, present, and future" exists simultaneously. There is only "the now".

As explained by the Ghost, "time does not flow" and in episode 10, Sae Byeok also said the exact same thing, "time does not flow", it doesn't work the way we understood it as "flowing", with "past, present, and future".

There is only one time line, and every possibility already exists simultaneously. What we watched were only a small few of those possibilities.

Einstein's theory of Relativity also comes into play. Time is relative to the observer (in this case, the person or time traveler). We followed only one possibility of Sae Ha's story. There are other Sae Ha who are time traveling.

Q: If Grid was created by the Ghost of the Future assisted by Saeha of the Future, then, why was it necessary to prevent the murderer from getting caught again and again?
A: The Ghost needs Man Ok so he can kill Sae Ha. Sae Ha also needs to die for the future of the Ghost to exist.

This was explained by the Ghost in the 1997 scene where she said, "We've repeated this dozens of times to find another way." Sae Ha, after understanding everything, asked, "how long do I have?" He understood that he has to die too, and he figured out that Man Ok is the one who's going to kill him.

Q: If Ghost kept Murderer free from being captured to result in Saeha getting hit by him, then my question again, what exactly is required from Manok?
A: To kill Sae Ha. If Sae Ha doesn't die, the future the Ghost came from would not exist.

Q: What does AB want to do with the ghost except for the grid?
A: The AB wants to steal the time travel technology so they can finish the version they are creating. That's all they need from the Ghost.

Q: Who is that older guy at the end along with the male ghost (Lee Ki Hong)?
A: I'm a little confused here. The Male Ghost is the one holding the blue device who tried to save Sae Ha from dying. He also spoke in English, "it's not me, can't you see it?"

The scene with the older guy was with an assistant who said that the Grid was erased "from all the times and layers".

If you are talking about that guy the assistant was talking to, he's no doubt a leader of a group/faction with its own interest in either removing the Grid or creating it. It is not clear if they were for or against the Grid (but that doesn't matter).

1. How did Saeha come back alive?2. Sae Byoek's daughter is the ghost's mom? 3. The ghost kept Kim Ma Nok alive…
Q: How did Saeha come back alive?
A: He did not. Every time a person time travels, it creates another version or copy.

Also, the Ghost explained in 1997 that "we've repeated this dozens of times to find another way". The Saeha we know/watched is probably not the first Saeha … he is just another version who tried to find another way.

Q: Sae Byoek's daughter is the ghost's mom?
A: Maybe, maybe not.

The Ghost came from 2091. Her daughter, Byeori, could either be her mother or her grandmother, depending on how many generations there were between them.

Since we don't know the age of the Ghost, we can only assume.

Personally, it's more likely Byeori is the Ghost's mother since the Ghost said she and her mom will never be born if things doesn't happen the way it did (people dying).

Q: The ghost kept Kim Ma Nok alive all these times for what?? To kill him finally?
A: Nope. He needs to live so Sae Ha dies. Man Ok is destined to kill Sae Ha no matter what, just like how Sae Ha's father is destined to die for the Grid to exist; and how Man Ok's father (janitor) also needs to die for the Ghost to exist.

Q: The new time traveller and the leader?
A: I'm not sure what the question is … it's a revelation that there is a group meddling in "all times and layers" (i.e. The Block Universe Theory of Time, a real-world theory.)

If majority of the audience is confused and majority of the questions presented in the show were not answered…
1. " it's just bad writing" -- audience not understanding a time travel story is never the basis if writing was good or bad.

2. "The production team is obviously not sure if there will be 2nd season. If they were, they would announce it right away." -- Not true. You can not just order another season unless those who can provide the funding orders it. You should never ever announced a "new season" if you were not given a green light. You'll never get another project in the industry if you do that.

3. "So setting up this kind of ending when you are not sure you can deliver 2nd season to explain anything about the plot is just bullshit for me." It was a good ending. They explained it. It just is complicated, that's all.
